Sounds like he looked at "which school has had the most past success " and created his list.
I am not saying we should or shouldn't be high on the list. It is all about a school's commitment to a non-revenue sport in this NIL era.

based on the role not being filled by now, i think there are only 2 realistic outcomes:
1. we're going to really thrilled by the hiring of one of the tcu coaches
2. we're going to be really disappointed with the non p4 hire (maybe DBU coach who is still in the playoffs) or naming of strader as head coach

Well, that's 3 options. lol.
If Strader were getting the job it would have been done immediately after the season when G's retirement was announced. We knew this was going to be G's last year for quite a while, so if Strader were the coach we would have hit the ground running with him.
So it is almost assuredly a coach who is still coaching. It might be a TCU coach or DBU coach, or someone else still in the playoffs, but we are clearly waiting on someone.

I would not be disappointed if it is the DBU coach. He has been very succesful everywhere he has been the head coach. Good offenses and defenses.
I do not know the history of every succesful coach but a great chance that a lot of those at the D1 level got their start at small schools at several levels. New players straight out of college or a few years in the pros who want to coach usually get their start at small schools.
We will just have to wait a bit more to see what happens and then regardless of the pick we will support our team.

Now if it ends up being Tim Strader, It probably would be because Bell was their target and fell through. But if they did go with Tim Strader I think it could be a pretty good move still. Many on the board would be very unhappy, but I think he is a very good coach and could lead a program. Just needs the right opportunity. All good coaches got their break somewhere.

Mentioned in the recruiting thread… Reese Rupe is headed to South Florida. I'm sure we'll see plenty of other girls enter the portal, not sure if any will be on power 5 rosters.

Agreed, A&M isn't hiring someone with zero major head coaching experience. You don't learn on the job at A&M. Having said that, Trev did hire Earley in baseball, so who knows.

If this was college football/basketbsll I would agree with you. I don't think there is the same sense of urgency here where you have to act quickly. I might be wrong though

The longer this drags on, the more it looks like we are still targeting someone whose team is still playing. Bell would be awesome, but I really doubt he leaves, which makes me extremely concerned that our target might be Higgenbotham. Yuck.
Nate Lie wouldn't have been among my top 5 hopefuls a month ago, but at this point I wish we'd just throw a pile of cash at him and be done.

With NIL and portal the need is to move more quickly in each sport. If we are waiting on someone then I am sure contact has been made.
Isn't Strader only in Aggieland because Taylor used to work with him? At least if Taylor stayed in some capacity it would help with future recruits, but I heard he has been offered for other things from another soccer forum.
Nate would be a great hire, but seems unlikely
