Texas got one of the best transfers from Denver. They are loading up while we are already falling behind in the portal. I'll admit, I'm a fan from the distance…. But I keep up. We're going to be lucky to field a decent team next year. The longer this draws out the more it hurts next season

Such would be a deal breaker every time. Seems too preposterous to be true.
Is this just someone's opinion of what's happening or is there any truth to it? Where did the rumor come from?

#1. You have to have a deal done before you announce the deal. So that is the ultimate reason.
#2. A&M has a culture. Would you like someone to fit that culture or come in and radically change it? Fit and the right hire is important than a costly bad hire. Again, just look to Texas. All the highly rated attacking talent in the world but did worse than A&M and now they are paying two coaching salaries in a sport that is very difficult to win it all. Much better to take our time and hire the right fit.
#3. I stand corrected on the dead period as that is a prohibition on "in person contact only" for the holiday break as I read the rules. Forgive me as I don't have a full compliance department to advise on all the recruiting rules and variations for each sport.
#4. Active coaches are attending various showcases and communicating plenty with recruits, which likely includes our future coach, whomever that may be.
#5. Don't confuse a delayed announcement for the AD not having a plan and keeping the competitive environment in mind. I don't know the AD but have to assume there is a master plan and I assume there is a bigger picture that we don't have insight into.

At this point it's clear we didnt have a plan. We knew our coach was retiring and we didnt have a coach lined up ? That seems like a failure on our part I mean tu just took ucla coach like week ago and other sec programs have done the same within days. Not sure how we expect to rebuild with hiring a coach this late.
Would've been cool if the AD had put some thought into this ahead of time. I guess G's retirement caught us by surprise. /s

The program was set back 2 years by G returning this past season. In theory, he and phil should have rode into the sunset together as the program started the next chapter.
As this search runs past the college cup, it has set the program back at least another year.
Trev knew this was coming months ago. This is a huge failure by him.
