Koda, tell me your daughter (and her elite club teammates who all wanted to go to the ACC-type schools) wouldn't have had A&M on the final shortlist if MK was coach.
Plus, the first SEC team that genuinely instills a modern possession approach with elite players will dominate the conference. There's a reason why kick/run/bully still wins at many levels, but never at the very highest anymore. The SEC is ripe for a quality technical team to have the opponents chase ghosts every game for 90 minutes.

Important that we get a new coach in place so we can go after the top players in the portal before they go elsewhere, and keep the current players/recruits the coach wants to keep. Heard one of our current players has already entered the portal. I suppose the new coach could bring some players with them, depending on where they come from.
Tell that to the teams that are using last year's Aggie roster to get to win regular season titles, get ranked in the top 15, play in conference tourney finals, and get picked for the NCAA tourney. We've got former Aggies all over teams that will play in the NCAAs. That's not a small fraction of the 2024 roster.

I don't have to tell them as they already know. We had 10 girls enter the portal last year and I'd say 5 or maybe 6 will be playing meaningful minutes for their new teams when NCAAs start in a about a week. That's out of hundreds and hundreds of players who entered the portal. As I said, it's a small fraction of those who enter the portal. The elite players who enter the portal will be grabbed quickly.
There will be some elite players in the portal, but the vast majority won't be great. Most are leaving their current team because they weren't getting much playing time and there is probably a reason for it. Looking forward to hearing who the new coach is and what transfers they can bring in.
Is there any update on the HC search? I've been out of the loop on this for the last few weeks.

Probably going to be a lot of waiting around until teams start losing in the tournament and their season ends
Ole Miss fired their coach today. She just finished year 3 of her 5 year contract. Winless in SEC play the last two years.
Makes total sense. This YTTV and Disney standoff has hampered my ability to watch any women's soccer. I am so far removed

My guess is they sign then portal will open for 30 days once we name a coach or is that just for football?
Anyone know much about Nate Lie? Put together a couple of real nice years at Kansas and has some success before arriving at KU
I'd be looking at Sian Hudson if I'm the AD. She's had great success at LSU. With our platform and resources, I bet she'd be massively successful.

Very impressed by KU this year and he turned that program around quickly.
Looking at the list of current openings below it would seem to me we are far and away the biggest opening out there (with maybe Ole Miss in second) Are there expected to be any openings coming up that would be as attractive as us?
On a personal note, the LA Tech announcement yesterday stings, as my daughter had had a lot of good contact and a long call with Coach Voltz and he was scheduled to come see her play over Thanksgiving. Recruiting is a wild ride.

He is a great guy with a great family and excellent staff as well. Just saw him a last week. He'd be a good fit. He's had lots of success at Xavier and Kansas (in a very short time) without the resource depth of A&M.

She'd be great choice as well. Only concern is over reliance on international players, but that may be a function of recruiting challenges / resource limitations rather than by choice (though she is from Wales, so I suspect we would still see a few intl players on the roster).
I wouldn't mind a reliance on international players. But possibly recruiting in state in Texas would make recruiting and developing high schoolers a lot easier. Then you supplement that with some international studs! I don't like it, but it's the name of the game now. Every Olympic sport is going international. The last two teams to win a national title here on campus, track and tennis have plenty of international talent.
I'm gonna try to watch as much soccer as I can this weekend! Our coach may be out there somewhere

LSU has looked really good this year and could make a nice run in NCAAs, but not sure about Hudson as our next coach. LSU was a .500 team in her 4th and 5th years there and has won exactly 1 NCAA game with her as the head coach (this is her 6th year). Not sure we have the patience for that sort of time table.
Florida coach was fired today.

So no one on here has heard anything? There's speculation elsewhere that an offer is out but that the coach is in the NCAA tourney and we won't know anything until they are done...

That's pretty much what we all,have figured. I'd be shocked if we heard any leaks from our side

Watching the SEC get its teeth kicked in on day 1 of the tourney just emphasizes my point. Kick/run/bully won't win at the highest levels anymore. With the right hire, we could climb the SEC mountaintop quickly.

If true. One would think that narrows it to Bell (or Higgy?), Lie, Stone, or Lenard.
The only homerun hire there is Bell, in my opinion.
Bell is in his 50's....on a run of big 12 titles...seems to have an immediate 3-4 yr window of legit college cup runs
I can't envision him leaving for a rebuild when he's on the doorstep of winning at the highest level
