Well now Bill Simmons seems to think Dwight will end up in Golden State also. Although this contradicts what else I have read, he thinks the Lakers will do a sign and trade as follows:

Isn't it the same as picking Houston over LA? Good young team made playoffs last year, Lakers are old team looking to (kind of) rebuild. Throw in Mark Jackson who most people say players love.

Not really he's essentially throwing away $15 million by picking GS over Houston

He wouldn't. Don't know why they would say that.


If I'm a team talking to GS, only way I'm paying Biedrins or Jefferson that money without giving any money back is if I'm getting Barnes or Thompson and a pick.

Move the contracts where? Not to LA

People forget that for a Sign & Trade to work LA would have to be happy with what they are getting in return. Does anybody have a firm grasp on what that is? NO. However, it is being reported that they are looking at one of Curry/Barnes/Thompson. Maybe even both Barnes and Thompson.

This thing is too muddled right now to have a clear and concise grasp on what it would take to get Dwight to GS

I thought because the Lakers would be 'signing' him the could sign him to the max amount (they could offer an extra 30 mil and year right?). Then they would trade that contract to GS. Works in my head anyways, but I'm no CBA genius.

That's because you are a Rockets fan hoping for Dwight. There are plenty of teams that would take on a one-year salary of Biedrins or Dick if you start shipping off 1st round picks to teams to absorb them.

You think teams are willing to pay $10m for one of those guys for a non-lottery pick? And they only have 1 pick to give. They need to trade both. Maybe Green+Biedrins/Jefferson+pick would work, but what about the second trade? Gotta give up Barnes or Thompson in my opinion.
