Wake up call game for sure. Tampa Bay is a great team, but it shouldn't be THIS bad.
I don't think we need a scoring winger any more. We need at least a winger AND a center, if not an entirely new 2nd line. We're essentially playing a 1st line, two 3rds, and a 4th (bordering on a first, one 3rd and two 4ths).

No argument here. But I get sending Gurianov down. There aren't a lot of forward options that wouldn't have to go through waivers, and he hasn't exactly been lighting things up. With St. Louis overtaking us in the standings like they have, the margin for error for this team is thin and they need offense...now.
Teams like the Canes, Bolts, and Jets depress me. That was what we were promised 5 years ago. Young, flashy, offensive-minded, bright future...

I renewed my season tickets this week but informed my ticket guy that if they don't make a major move by the trade deadline and Jim Nill still has a job, that I'd be canceling. Not that it'll do anything, but he said he'd "pass that along". Wasn't an empty threat either. I'm tired of paying for mediocrity, and if they miss the playoffs again, tickets will be easy to come by next season.

The problem is we're a lot further than "one move away". By season's end I'll probably have gone to almost 20 games. Like you I'll probably pay up again for next season - especially for the WC - but watching mediocrity gets real old real fast.
Yeah, this team needs an entire 2nd line. I thought about the Winter Classic, but I think there will be plenty of tickets available.

Just a heads up, my Stars insider seems to think we are Trading for Gustav Nyquist from the Wings.
That would be awesome. Nyquist was a guy I hoped they would go after. If they could get him and one more forward, I would be much more optimistic about this team going forward. But even just Nyquist would be a huge 2nd line upgrade with a good chance of re-signing him.
Yeah, he's a true gaol scorer. Word is it will be for Honka and a pick. Maybe Val but the Wings may see more upside with Honka.
I'm sure my guy is less plugged in than yours (he usually only has stuff right before it happens), but I'm hearing Honka too, with a second rounder. They'll consider using a 1st if the right center can be had, and they'll be spending the next week working that angle. The issues are, they want someone with a realistic chance to re-sign in the offseason (don't want just a rental) and there are too many "buyers" right now. Hoping this week puts some of these "on the fence" teams out of serious contention.

All of a sudden you'd have a new center and winger to put with Benn and the whole team would look different. 2 legitimate scoring lines, a line of seasoned veterans and one of young talent/energy. Put that together with the defense and goaltending (the other night in TB, excluded) and you'll have a dangerous team.
I'll believe it all when I see it, but it's exciting to think it could be happening.

This is almost a mirror image of last season. The difference is, this team is worse. The rest of the conference just sucks this year, so we just may squeeze into the playoffs.

On Seguin's empty netter, he was clearly hooked while shooting. If he had missed, and the ref called a penalty, you could argue it should be a penalty shot. With the goalie in the bench, I believe they would just award the goal automatically. I don't think I've ever seen it happen, but I think we almost did.

After seeing the details, glad we stayed out of that one. 2 prospects, a 2019 1st round pick and a conditional 2020 1st round pick, with no guarantee that Duchene sticks around. Weird for Columbus to go all in like that when they're not even in a playoff spot right now. Not to mention that this is not the year to have delusions of coming out of the East.
