Ultimately this is a mediocre team and a mediocre franchise. No matter who the talent on the roster is, we've been in the same exact place for 10 years, except for one year of high octane offense under Ruff. The first playoff series against the Ducks was cool, but that's just a bubble team being on the right side of the bubble for once, and nothing more. It amazes me that this team can go from old Brenden Morrow, Mark Parrish, Adam Burish and Jeff Woywitka to Benn, Seguin, and Klingberg, and still be the same exact team in the standings. Something has to give. I feel like this core gets another 2 years and then I wouldn't mind a rebuild. Hell I wouldn't even mind a rebuild after this season, although I know it won't happen with Benn and Seguin just signing extensions in the last two years. It's really frustrating to seemingly have all this talent and then be able to go nowhere with it. In the time that the Stars have been medicore, the Bruins have gone form powerhouse, to bad team, back to a playoff team. The Blackhawks have gone from dumpster team to stanley cup dynasty. The Canucks have gone from mediocre, to Stanley Cup Finalists, to bad, and now to on the rise again. The Sharks have gone from playoff favorite, to choker lightweight team, to playoff favorite, back to choker lightweight team. The Kings have gone from basement team, to two-time champs, back to basement team. All the while, the Stars have remained the same painfully mediocre. Something has to give after this season I would think, unless Nill pulls off a big move mid-season/ at the deadline.
