OK, so I finally did the quest down in the depths where it asks you to follow where the statues are pointing... If you haven't done this quest, go do it, now!! No distractions, go do it!

54 shrines and 3 bosses down and I finally did it. The only spoiler I will give is #facepalm
I want to make sure I'm remembering something correctly: Those statues are where you first enter the Depths, right? It's one of the statues you take a picture of.

I keep a short "To Do" list when I play games, and this quest is on there right now. It's so difficult, in a good way, to keep focused on a single goal in this game, since new things keep popping up wherever you go.

I've poked my head around the Depths already a bit and it's been fantastic. There's a creepy, scary, sense of dread and adventure that is just perfect.

Correct. Go down to the depths, take the picture, go back up to Jonah (I think that's her name?) and she'll give you another quest to follow where the statues are pointing.

And agreed, so difficult to not get distracted in this game (which is a great thing). But I've got a bit of regret not doing this quest sooner. I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll leave it there!

How many hours is everyone at? I've got about 45. Only one "story" area cleared, 55ish shrines, 60ish koroks, all but 4 map towers, and a bunch of the underground explored. Still have yet to figure out how to unlock great fairies.

About 48 hours in, I think 25 shrines, and about 10 which are visited but not completed. 1/4 areas completed. (Zora) Started the Rito quest line.

Unlocked the first great fairy and upgraded most of my gear to 1 star. I've seen maybe 1/6 of the Depths map so far.

Purah Pad is fully upgraded except for the final travel medallion upgrade.

This game is just massive.

Also, I gather from your username you're a Wind Waker fan. You notice how the old maps that mark spots in the depths is straight out of WW with the treasure charts?

Told myself I was going to stick to The Depths tonight.

Started in The Depths, 20 min later ended up at the Great Plateau. Spent 4 hours at the Great Plateau

Thats a nice connection didn't think about that. Oddly enough WW might be my least favorite zelda . Still a great game though. I made this name back closer to when it came out and after subsequent playthroughs later in life I've found it hasn't aged so well IMO. That said I have never played the remaster that does fix some issues.

Has anyone upgraded their batteries / energy wells? I haven't even begun to think about that yet; it seems incredibly time-consuming and tedious as i haven't even unlocked most of my map. I spend most of my zonai charges at dispensers that I find, but I've seen YouTubers with like 4-5+ extra batteries. How does anyone have time for this?
I finally did this last night. I thought i had collected a good amount of Zonaite, but i quickly learned that i was mistaken. After exchanging for crystalized charges and taking those to the battery man at the crystal refinery, i had enough for..... TWO ENERGY WELLS... Not 2 batteries, but 2/3 of one single battery.. This is gonna take a while.

so you need to mine 3 zonite for one crystal charge and 100 crystal charges for one energy cell. 300 charges or nearly 1,000 zonite for an extra battery. …that means these people who have 4-5 batteries have collected or mined approximately 4-5,000 zonite already…. I hope their flying contraptions are capable of transcontinental flights across all Hyrule while shooting lasers at everything in their paths.

More than likely that they're doing the duplication glitch on large crystallized charges, right?

I don't know anything about that. Whatever it is, I bet Nintendo patches that up before I ever get to a point where I'm ready to consider it!

So I decided to follow your guys' lead here. Went back to do this quest, then realized when I got there I had already done this. I found my way to this area by entering The Depths from The Great Plateau and rode mine carts to get here

It's really insane how there are so many different ways to approach everything in this game. Frankly don't know how Nintendo did it

My goal for today is to knock those quests out. I did the picture one last night so now just have to figure out where to go. I haven't explored the depths much yet.

Also finished my first temple last night. The rito quest line was a ton of fun. Make sure you are ready for cold temperatures before doing that one! Ran out of spicy pepper food while fighting that boss, and the game wouldn't let me cook more during the fight, and I couldn't figure out how to leave the fight. So I ended up just having to out-eat the cold damage for about 30 seconds while finishing.

New patch update might have fixed the duplication glitch, though it doesn't specify it.

I'm addicted. Every hour at work, all I care about is when I can wrap up, do my 20 min bike ride, and then veg out with TOTK.

Making my way over to Hatena/o Village on horseback is my next plan. Who knows if I'll actually make it there or veer off course yet again

Completed two main areas (Zora, Rito), unlocked three Great Fairies, and have two towers left to visit.

Have to say, if I have one minor complaint about the story thus far, it's that the cutscenes after beating the temple bosses are almost copy/pasted from each other.

Are any of y'all using it? I'm torn on revealing to my son that it exists. On one hand, he'd absolutely love it. On the other hand, I feel like it would take away from the experience a little to just duplicate everything.

I was about to call it a night 4 hrs ago after making it to Hateno Village. Still haven't reached a dungeon yet

Then I realized I could reach the upper levels of Hyrule Castle. I looted the entire place while sneaking around most of the enemies lol
hylian shield and royal guard clothing items

Guess I should make my way over to one of the dungeons now. No rush!

I was also curious if I could trigger the final boss sequence this early on like in BOTW. Nope

I stumbled upon the Tunic of Awakening by complete accident last night and I can't imagine finding it any other way. You'd have to really be looking everywhere which I guess they encouraged by sprinkling Korok seeds all over.

This won't be too big a spoiler since I can't remember the names of anything but I was walking along a really long bridge about 3am. I dozed off and walked off the side of bridge! Woke up mid fall, immediately activated my glider, and began scanning the area for water to land in if I ran out of stamina from gliding. In the distance I saw a three headed dragon and decided to land behind it. I landed on a pillar which just happened to have a hidden button in the middle of it. Landed on the button and it opened up a secret cave with a chest inside that held the Tunic of Awakening. Guess I was supposed to fight that dragon to get it.
