Creative and different dungeons, simple combat, humor.

Couple more details I noticed:

The massive structure coming out of the sand in Gerudo desert seems to be a dungeon. The return of dungeons!

Link standing in the room of the final Ganon fight, and it's not destroyed. So flashback, or time travel?

I mean nothing's stopping you from ignoring weapon fusion altogether if that's what you prefer.

Dungeons are definitely coming. I think we see a few glimpses inside a dungeon or two. But glad they didn't show too much.

Looked like a skull kid

Hyrule still looking sparsely populated.

But looks like there may be formal dungeons? Holding out hope

Ganondorf's return is a big W

Looks like a young Rito.

This. x100.

The whiny crap from some posters is getting ridiculous.

I played my entire first playthrough of BotW and never once cooked anything. Ever. Why didn't I? Because I didn't want to deal with that kind of mechanic in a Zelda game. Guess what? I enjoyed the game. Since then, i've realized how easy the mechanic can be, but also how in depth I can make it. Want it easy? Go pick a bunch of Dorian fruit and simply cook one at a time. Want to make specialized potions and foods? Then you can have fun experimenting with different ingredients. It is completely up to you on how in depth you go with that mechanic. I believe fusion is going to be very similar.

Just because there are certain mechanics, doesn't mean you have to explore them in great detail. I guarantee you that people who never played Master Mode have NEVER used the Shieka slate powers like those of us who have.

Also, for others to make claims like "there are no dungeons" have absolutely no basis in anything but conjecture. I agree with you on that scene from the desert, about there being a return of dungeons. There was also another clip that looked 100% like the inside of a dungeon.

That trailer got me pumped for this one. I loved seeing those characters from BotW return to be a part of this story. I love the idea of an immediate sequel with many changes across the world. I'm sure we'll see new buildings and settlements because the people of Hyrule have been rebuilding for at least a few years.

I'm loving seeing all the new mechanics because I'm just thinking about all the cool new uses. I am also in agreement that I'm glad they don't show too much. What I just saw was more than enough to get me psyched for this game. I will not watch anymore sneak peaks or any gameplay videos. I can't wait to pick this up, day one.

My ONLY concern is performance. I'm hoping they have coded this game to run smoother, or at least give us a freaking update to the switch with boosted performance. I'm hoping one of the biggest reasons for poor performance of BotW was because it was originally developed for WiiU.

Your last paragraph is exactly where I'm at. I'm excited about the new game, but concerned its on the same hardware the old one was 6 years ago.

Hardware aside, a sequel to the first one's story is enough for me to buy.

Purchased BOTW 3 years ago and finally got around to actually playing it last week. It's also the first Zelda game i've ever played. Holy **** this game is incredible. I've put in probably 20-25 hours in the past week and still have a long way to go. Hopefully i can wrap it up by the time TOTK comes out

Just finished. What a game. Took me about 70 hours, and it still feels like I only completed about 1/3 of everything the game has to offer. Only completed like 62 shrines and only found about 200 korok seeds. Also made it through to the end without defeating a single Lynel.

Guess the only thing left to do now is pre-order Tears of the Kingdom.

They were one of the best parts of the game. Once you figure out how to fight them they are a blast.

This. We did this and bought the add on expansions. The master sword quests were a lot of fun and challenging. I felt like we squeezed everything out of this game and it is one of my favorites of all time.

Even my wife plays it and she doesn't play video games. That is an accomplishment in itself and a testament to the game's fun factor.

Have you taken a look at the botw second wind mod? The shrines are redone for a new experience, there are new quests/items and, best of all, you can do 60+ fps. It needs a wiiu or switch emulator (I've heard the wiiu emulator is much better for this). Seems like something you'd be interested in with how much you've played.

Excited for the next game but enjoying second wind in the mean time.

Do you guys mind explaining the practical difference between a dungeon and what we got in BOTW? I thought the shrines and the bosses were all in dungeons.

Traditional Zelda dungeons are multiple small rooms that branch off. You have to find a map, key(s), and compass. There is often doubling back once you find one of the above to previously blocked areas. There are bosses to fight that give you access to triforce pieces. Sometimes parts of the dungeon are opened by small puzzles, but usually fighting.

IMO the BOTW divine beats were close enough to dungeons to me, but there need to be way more than 4. The shrines were close to traditional dungeons if multiple different kinds had been strung together: so a puzzle shrine connected to combat shrines, etc.

They are also more tightly themed around a concept than I recall the divine beasts being. Fire, water, nature, air, light/mirrors etc.

Don't forget that traditional Zelda dungeons give you a new tool to use that's relevant for the rest of the game and crucial to finishing that specific dungeon

While we got some time to kill for TOTK....favorite Zelda dungeons?

The ones that come to mind for me:

OOT - Forest Temple (Always loved the music, and being my first Zelda game was my first "real" dungeon)
MM - Stone Tower Temple (Again, love the music, and flipping the temple upside down was a pretty new and unique gimmick)
SS - Ancient Cistern (Really dig the underground prison part which feels like you've descended into hell, and an awesome boss fight.)

Loved Ancient Cistern in SS

Big fan of final dungeon and boss fight in Windwaker, and the Rito (sp) dragon dungeon

Geri do Fortress/Spirit Temple is probably my favorite OOT dungeon

Level 5 in the original. Two blue darknut rooms to get to the recorder and a hidden room to increase your bomb capacity. Set the tone for the bigger and more difficult dungeons later in the game

Guardians aren't too difficult if you just parry their lasers back at them. Every time i encountered a Lynel i was dead in about 2 seconds. I just never took the time to figure out the process to defeat them. It seemed like they mostly popped up at inconvenient times, so i would just sneak around instead of dealing with them.

Looking to kill some spare time between now and the Tears of the Kingdom release. Which Zelda games do you guys think are most worth going back and playing. Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker are the 2 i've been considering. What are yall's opinions?

Ocarina of Time is always the popular opinion because it's the iconic first 3D version. Not to mention, it is a great game.

However, Majora's Mask is an eerie and creepy fever dream of a game about death. It is fun to play after Ocarina, though.

Can't wait for Tears!

I remember as a kid staring at the promo screenshots for Ocarina of Time in Nintendo Power. Being absolutely baffled at the thought of a 3d Zelda game. I imagined being able to explore an open world, come across dungeons and even hunting animals for food. I dunno why I imagined that for a Zelda game, but the thought of a 3d version just blew my mind and I thought anything was possible.

I loved Ocarina though and played it so many times over and over. When BotW came out it made me remember back to my daydreams of Ocarina as a kid.

I can't wait for Tears!
