I'm about 10 shrines in, and finally found one I had to look up a guide to. When I saw how simple the solution was, it made me laugh. Have to think outside the box bigtime on some of these!

Had a fun death today while trying to build a contraption to beat that shrine. It had the dragon head flame emitters on the ground, and they were shooting a VERY large flame out. I picked one up and started rotating it, and promptly shot myself right in the face with the flame. Lesson learned. Except that I did it again about 5 minutes later.

Some of the shrines in this game are extremely clever. I am impressed. On the whole I enjoy the shrines more in this game than in BotW and I think the core abilities you have at your disposal are better as well.

That said my only real complaint with the game so far is that it is way too on the nose with following BotW's formula. I was hoping for more "key" areas with good dungeons and instead it looks like the same 4 spots in the same regions in the same Hyrule with shrines dispersed throughout. There's been some good stuff in the depths but it is largely empty it seems.

On the whole I like this better than BotW so far and I loved BotW.

As someone who sucks at combat, the Proving Grounds shrines are kicking my ass. They are a ton of fun though.

This is a great video. These are pretty much my exact thoughts, across the board.

I got to the last construct on my first one of these, and I accidentally killed myself by walking into some spikes I was trying to fuse to.

I'm enjoying the shrines much more this time around with the building mechanic. Ultrahand is so fun to mess with, it's not making the shrines feel like a chore. Some have stumped me, but I've enjoyed the majority. My favorite so far is one that has you play a pretty famous party game.

I am just now starting the main quest, starting with the Rito side. I've spent most of my time exploring and just looking around. I've done 40+ shrines, 10+ towers and 30+ korok seeds. The exploration is just so good.

Yeah I think I'm gonna set the game down for a few days lest I just death march through the whole thing. I've got about half of the map uncovered, one temple down.

I liberated Lurelin Town from the pirates with 8 hearts lol, was a little challenging not gonna lie

Finished zora dungeon up to just having to fight the boss. Decided to go to town real quick and turn in my orbs for a couple heart containers. Stumbled onto the hidden royal passage and spent the next two hours exploring that and the castle… finally went back to dungeon and killed boss. Just another night of totk.

I only had about an hour for Hyrule last night. Plan was to get to towers and unlock a few more sections of the map. Went to one, unlocked it, then spent the next 45 minutes screwing around in an archipelago in the sky collecting flowers, bugs, and herbs and doing one shrine up there. I feel like it's going to be a year before I start any dungeons.

I remember going down there to turn in shrines for more stamina/hearts, right as I was about to make my way to hateno for the first time, and saw the broom lady with a quest about "hearing voices".

The quest was easy enough but, wait, what are these other rocks hiding?!? As you said, 2 hrs later, I'm finishing up the remains of hyrule castle.

This game just magnifies my add tendencies.

After doing the rito part of the main quest, I decided to unlock all the sky towers and collect all the memories. Plus side quests and shrines on the way. We may need a spoilers thread for this at some point.

Defeated my first Talus of totk

Talus heart drops and I'm so excited to fuse something to it, except I don't have any unfused weapons. No problem, I run over to some nearby enemies grab a sword and when I come back the heart is gone. Guess they weren't that nearby.

Auto save back to the point right after I defeat it and heart still gone. Sadness. Lesson learned to carry something unfused before fighting a talus.

Oof. In your menu you can remove fused stuff from a weapon. That's an option next time too. I used one with a shield.

Yeah I'm gonna have to duck out of this thread for awhile as we're creeping into spoiler territory about the games dungeons and stuff. I'll see y'all after I finish the game, cause I already have a lot of theories I'd like to discuss.

About 50 shrines completed, finally unlocked all the towers to satiate my OCD regarding the map, unlocked a couple of great fairies, found the majority of exploration supporting armor sets, and completely upgraded the Purah Pad. Feel like i can finally start back up on the main quest.

That lesson applies to pretty much all miniboss fights.

Was going to ask this. Anyone else play it like this, where I can't do anything until I unlock every tower to highlight the map? I don't care about the story and I don't care about "adventuring" until I get a good lay of the land, even if it's a map I'm familiar with from BOTW. I hate going in blind if there is an option to clear to brush before I do so.

I'd been taking up so much time exploring caves and finding shrines that I totally missed the quest line for autobuild and the pad upgrades until last night.

Also, Great fairy question: , without too much spoilers, is there something else I'm supposed to do after rescuing the guy stranded in the hole and his cart? I did that, and assumed that would reunite the music troupe, but I fast traveled to Woodland Stable and the other musicians are still waiting for him. I need my Great Fairy upgrades, damn it!

Minor spoiler if you haven't completed at least 1 of the 4 main boss areas.

Does anyone know if there is a better way to activate the sage avatars? I have three and it is such a continual PITA to try to find the thunder lady. It is an awesome skill but so hard to not get hit in battle when I run around trying to find her.

Also, Zora guys special is pretty terrible when compared to how awesome Rito and even Gerudo is. Can't wait to see what gorons special is but I'm guessing it'll be the same or worse as Zora's (as in, not good).

I love the Zora one for the sole reason that I'm carrying some Zora weapons with an awesome 2x damage buff when wet. So anytime I want to use them, I just call in Sidon. That said, I absolutely agree with it being annoying having to go into my menu to bring him in. It'd be nice if it was a shortcut in the powers quick menu.

What do you mean by "going into your menu"? Dont you just have to talk to him to activate it? Or is there another way I'm missing?

OK, so I finally did the quest down in the depths where it asks you to follow where the statues are pointing... If you haven't done this quest, go do it, now!! No distractions, go do it!

54 shrines and 3 bosses down and I finally did it. The only spoiler I will give is #facepalm

Has anyone upgraded their batteries / energy wells? I haven't even begun to think about that yet; it seems incredibly time-consuming and tedious as i haven't even unlocked most of my map. I spend most of my zonai charges at dispensers that I find, but I've seen YouTubers with like 4-5+ extra batteries. How does anyone have time for this?

Ok that's probably what I should've done. I've been trying to figure out how to do that because the tutorial was very brief. I'll lift my google ban for this.

I want to make sure I'm remembering something correctly: Those statues are where you first enter the Depths, right? It's one of the statues you take a picture of.

I keep a short "To Do" list when I play games, and this quest is on there right now. It's so difficult, in a good way, to keep focused on a single goal in this game, since new things keep popping up wherever you go.

I've poked my head around the Depths already a bit and it's been fantastic. There's a creepy, scary, sense of dread and adventure that is just perfect.
