Just finished my 4th of the main quests and I'm glad I saved this one for last. I won't spoil it but holy crap that boss was no joke.

Floating colosseum complete! And without sages. (Mostly because I forgot I had them until the very last fight.)

What a gauntlet!

I always forget to summon them until the fight is over.

hell no. I only have one of them he's annoying asF. He starts blowing wind at me when all I wanted to do was pick up a damn mushroom.

Agree. But he is also very useful when gliding so I keep him out.

I only keep that one active since he helps with mobility. All the others are dismissed.

Everything about the Sages is clunky and frustrating. The mechanic for summoning them and using their abilities is terrible. When you actually need Yonobo, he's nowhere to be found like 60% of the time. Tulin will blow all your loot away if you're not careful and engages with enemies that you're trying to avoid. Sidon is pretty much worthless. Haven't completed the Gerudo Lightning Temple yet, so i don't know about that one.

He's the only one I keep summoned because I glide so much.

I have to agree. It wouldn't been far better if the sage abilities were simply moves you activated like you used to do in BOTW, and not through the menu.

Rather than having them summoned at all times, they just pop in when you use the ability, then they disappear again.

Both happened to me yesterday. I had fed a dog some meat and was following it to a treasure chest. I stopped to pick up a mushroom and accidentally triggered him who activated his wind at the dog. The dog barked at me and ran away without leading me to a chest.

Then I was in the depths trying to sneak past a big scary looking Lynell I was not ready to fight when he took a shot at it.

It's been kinda fun having them in combat, especially the bird guy since he can headshot folks. But they definitely get in the way and also make aiming on moving targets difficult.

I've seen some good ideas posted on Reddit about making the Sage abilities bound to D-Pad Down and moving the whistle to the L Wheel instead of the Map button. Who uses the Map button on the L Wheel anyway?!

Yeah sage mechanics are my biggest complaint especially since I thought the extra move worked well in botw.

I was recently rapid collecting bomb flowers and accidentally triggered bird dude to blow a gust of wind at 3 of them exploding us out of the cave

Up to almost 6 batteries. Gotta say, it's a breeze getting around the Depths on a hoverbike (2 fans + control), especially once you have the Zonaite set. It doubles your energy, so I never even have to worry about energy between lightroots.

I really need to start adding batteries and getting around more like this. I'm still playing like it's botw.

91 shrines, 94 lightroots, 7 batteries.

At this point I'm not sure if I want to keep going until I 100% it, or go ahead and finish the story off. Either way, will probably keep playing afterwards.

Warning, gushing herein

Just finished this masterpiece. Easily GOTY.

The ending cinematics are outstanding. I won't spoil the final boss fight, but it was a multipart rush.

I enjoy that the more recent BOTW and TOTK really allow these games to be about the "Legend Of Zelda", giving Zelda a historical role to play in these games. The plot of this one could easily be a movie.

I'll definitely be replaying this for years to come. Totally worth weeks of my free time

I honestly was liking BotW more than TotK until the final dungeon/boss. One of the most epic final fights ever, and the soundtrack absolutely slapped.

Now that I'm more inclined to look up advanced techniques on youtube, some of the advanced battle technique videos are extremely creative (I know they edited the menu selections for video purposes). Also, I hope they come out with a better system soon, the frame rate of these emulators make it look so much better.

Don't watch if you want to learn these moves on your own:

I've taken a two week break due to vacation and already feel the lure of Diablo 4 and FF16 coming up... I've gotten around 80 shrines complete, played about 95+ hours, and have the four sages unlocked, but I might be putting it down for a bit. I will finish this one where as I never did finish BoTW.

Just finished the main story. 98 shrines and 74 korok seeds. 5 zonai batteries. 130 hours. Lol.

This was the greatest game I have ever played. Just completely blown away. Nintendo is still the king. It makes breath of the wild look small in comparison.

Experienced in its entirety, this is one of the finest pieces of art ever in a video game.

Just so, so good. Maybe once the hype dies down I'll change my mind, but this is hopping over The Witcher 3 as my favorite game of all time.

Also, I feel like Miyazaki has gotta he punching the air rn. This game dunked on Elden Ring, which tried to dunk on BoTW.

Just hell yeah.

Now, I'm going to step away from the game for a bit to digest. Plan to come back and mop up the rest of the shrines and maybe go after some of the armor sets I didn't get and some of the treasure side quests.

I did complete all of the major side adventures.

Ending spoilers:

I love the touch of the game ending exactly how it began. Link reaching out to Zelda, except this time he grabs her. Just so well done

I truly have no idea how they can top this game. How anyone could top this game.

Blue rupee award!

Are you able to still keep playing after finishing the story, unlike BotW? Or do you just have to go back to a previous save file like before?

You could play after beating Ganon in BOTW. It showed a star next to your save file which indicated you'd beaten it already.

Destroy Ganondorf - Complete.

What an epic final battle and ending. So good. Chills throughout. I took so many screen captures. So many "wallpaper" type moments. Amazing.

Also, (massive game ending spoiler below)....

Catching Zelda at the end might be one of the coolest moments in the entire franchise. Was pushing that dive button so hard to get to her. What an awesome way to bring the game full circle.

If anyone is curious on how broken this game actually is, here is one of the recent world records for the game (any% - beat the game as fast as you can). This run was beaten a couple days ago by a few seconds.

The item that causes the most breaks in the game? The steering wheel.

If anyone is curious, botw any% speed runs were about an hour a month after release. It is now close to 20 mins. This is fast but, based on botw, there's a lot of improvement coming.

What an ending to this game. The Ganondorf fight was great. I really thought the music in this game, especially towards the end, was fantastic.

Damn guys, slow down! I'm still trying to get every single solitary piece of armor or clothing and won't progress the main quest line until each and every one of them is fully upgraded to 4-stars. Plus, I will need every sage's will, every zonai relief picture, every yiga schematic, and every shrine- at least.

Finally got the last 2 roots thats were really hard to find, had to Google them. Now I think I have 6 or 7 shrines left.

Yup. Same here. Purposely stopped the sage missions in order to side quest.

I recommend the Wind Sage - they seem to be the only one that can crit and that can be pretty useful in a fight.
