I just don't like the depths. It creeps me out. Fumbling around and looking for light roots just doesn't do it for me. Also doesn't help that there are 120 light roots total. Feels like an impossible task.
I thought you were exaggerating. Wow.

One light root for every surface shrine. A lot of dark space on my depths map.

Just killed Queen Gibdo. That wasn't all that fun.

I'm afraid of heights and I sometimes get that queasy feeling in my stomach when up in the Sky Islands.

Any general tips for finding armor? In BOTW it was pretty straightforward- usually in shrines or found for sale at towns

Miskos treasure in caves, you can talk to "fashionable" people and or the treasure hunting twins.

There's a lot of armor in smaller abandoned mines of the depths, old maps in the sky islands have their locations.

All of that. The Miskos treasure caves are marked with similar flags, etc. If you see stuff like this in or near a cave there is treasure somewhere inside.

I'm up to 2 temples completed, 44 shrines and working towards the 3rd regional phenomenon now (Goron). Very fun so far. I don't mind that it's taken me a while to get to this point either. Honestly I've been following ZeldaMaster on YouTube as a walkthrough. It's helped me stay focused and helped me find things that I would probably never find on my own.

With two small children I will take what I can get at this point. Really excited to start chipping away at the rest of it.

Up to 129 shrines, 11 full energy well batteries, and almost all of the Depths uncovered. Making an air tricycle with 3 fans and the steering stick has been very helpful for depths exploration.

Around 52% complete.

There is so much to this game

Glad I'm not alone in that feeling. My oldest son plays a lot and it's quite unnerving.

Interesting tidbit about how they use the blood moon to reset memory. Neat little trick, wouldn't be surprised if they have more things that have similar uses. Having worked on a switch game, every little piece I uncover in this one just makes me more amazed at what they've been able to accomplish despite the hardware limitations.

Pretty sure GOTY is BG3's to lose at this point

And I say that as someone who absolutely adores TotK

Okay. Beat every shrine, opened every tree root, visited all the caves and collected all bubble gems, found every well, completed every side quest, and own every bit of clothing. Finally called it over the weekend and beat the game. All of that led to a 70% completion score.

Are Korok and Compendium photos really worth 30% of the game? I'm guessing there's something else I missed

Not sure on photos, but I know koroks are a pretty significant chunk due to sheer quantity.

Each Korok seed is 0.04%. So all 900 korok seeds make up 36%.

No kidding. Upgrading all the outfits became more of a chore than being fun. Especially when it came to getting 9 gleeok guts. At that point, I noped it straight to ganon.

I'm not quite there but I've completed all the shrines, light roots, and sages. I'm at the point where I gotta decide whether I want to try to finish it or not. I don't know that I care enough to find all the Korok seeds, caves, bubble gems, etc. I think I have most of the clothes. I don't know that I want to finish it, even though I know I could start over. This has been one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time, if not the best.

I am dead inside.

On Thanksgiving, I let one of my nephews play, so I set up a new game and didn't realize the "overwrite existing save data" meant EVERY SINGLE PIECE SAVED. Wish I would have used a different profile, but haven't ever needed to set one up.

So I lost about 60 hours of game play. I was sick to my stomach, but over Christmas break I'll put in about half of that and try to get close to catching back up.

Ouch.

Yep, you can only have one save per profile. That really sucks. If it were me, I wouldn't be able to play again for years, lol.

Yeah I completely lost motivation these past two weeks. So hopefully I regain it by Christmas, if not I'll pick up another game and then just give it more time.

Back in the Xbox One days, I really got into the platformer Rayman Legends. I started getting perfect scores on every level and completing every task and challenge. It was just a game that I really liked and put a ton of time into, trying to get 100% completion.

Then one day my kids did exactly what you did... started a "new game" and EVERYTHING was gone.

I feel you bro!

I forgot I bought this for my son last year for his birthday. He said it was an awesome game. I feel like I need to reply BOTW before I jump into this one.
