Everyone should be able to get out today if needed. Sun should be coming out of the clouds around lunch time with full sun. Things will melt quickly if that holds up.

That said my drive way is two inches of ice. The warmth from the ground did just enough to melt everything down then freeze it last night.

Drove from the Anatole to College Station yesterday at 4:30. Was there all week for a conference, but the wife and baby are sick and needed to get home.

Downtown roads were terrible since most of the roads are elevated. Luckily, it was minimal traffic and everything is wide, so getting a little sideways was fine. South of Dallas on 45 for the first 100 miles, I probably passed 25 abandoned vehicles. Every bridge was pretty much as bad as it could get. One jackknifed 18 wheeler north bound by the lake in Corsicana had that side of the highway shut down.

It was bad. No way around it. Took me close to four hours for the trip instead of the normal 2.5.

We got sun!!

That two mile long elevated section of I-45 crossing the Trinity south of town was terrible back in 2013. Ice ruts 5" deep yet still managed to go sideways. Can imagine it was no fun this time too...

Wife is a flight attendant for AA and is getting back to DFW around 11am. Any idea on best route to get from DFW to Keller?

Highways should be a little better by then. Crews working plus sun.

What's y'all's prognostication for a trip across town early tomorrow morning? Right now I'm not confident there will be enough sun and heat today to clear the roads before it gets cold again this evening.

Our son has a basketball game tomorrow AM....i sorta hope they just cancel but even if they dont I am leaning towards a pass...i think we are hunkering down until Sunday....but by Sunday....margaritas are going to be 100% necessary...

If there's any moisture still on the roads then, it'll be ice after a 10 degree night

I think we'll see a huge melt-off this afternoon and the wind will help dry it up. Shady and elevated areas may still be dicey in the AM tho

I've seen them going back and forth on tonight's temp, but the latest seems to be 18-20. Still plenty low enough to refreeze, but not terrible.

Just now seeing some melting happening in the alleys and streets in the Plano area.

Also looks like the sun wants to come out. I think if we can get a few solid hours of sun it will get rid of a lot of this today...

Channel 11 needs to get their **** straight. Lady was just forecasting temps reaching 20 degrees at 11am and only 28 this afternoon, all while the current temp news graphic on their screen says its 22 already at 10.

Streets still rock solid in North McKinney.

NWS forecasting some to melt but for it to all re-freeze overnight.

Sun hitting pool pump now. Up to 33. Will be able to give the pump a breather here for 6-8 hours.

34 here. 1pm-6pm will be a good break for the pump.

Yep. But with sun out now. Things are melting quickly. I just had a bunch of frozen snow/sleet/ice fall off my roof. Grass is also starting to poke through as well.

27 right now in Plano. Sun breaking through and melting the ice shell that was on the roads. Took kids to gym this morning for practice. My son was sick this week and our hosted meet is next week, otherwise would have stayed home.

George Bush/190 was not bad at all. Most ice was gone. Major streets still icy.

Sun really starting to burn clouds away. Will freeze back solid tonight.

Most local newscasts are predicting highs of only 30-31 all day. Weather Underground is already showing 31 in mid-cities DFW with 35 on the way for later afternoon. It isn't full sun here but I saw other places where it was sunny. If its sun and anything over 30, the ice on the roads will melt and dry. Not that none will be left to refreeze but with warming late morning tomorrow, the roads should be fine by noon Saturday.

The combo of sun and 10-15 wind is going to help dry it as it melts

My driveway is at a perfect angle to have caught all the snow but also be in the shade so none of it is melting. Nobody else on the street needs to shovel except me. I'm not going to do it out of principle. And also I don't have to go anywhere. But still. What if we ran out of tortilla chips?

Seems to be some discussion regarding a Valentines Day or just after winter event on Storm2k. Anybody got a feel for how it will play out?

Ran out of Cointreau recently without noticing. Haven't been able to make a proper margarita for days.

The more important question is how is your alcohol cabinet? See the post two below you? That is extremely poor winter storm prep. Should be ashamed!!

Melting like crazy now in SW FW. Had to run a few errands for the sick and pregnant wife.

Still plenty of ice left to melt as the snow is about done on roads in this area. Let's see how much ice melts today!

I plan to pass on any additional severe winter weather....i like the Weather.com forecast...trying to avoid the Storm2K forum...

I agree. Typically good for one snow day event. But this is just too cold for my old bones. Plus days at a time locked in the house with the teenager is trying at best.

Good news is that the sun is sorta out here and things appear to be melting decently.
