My driveway is at a perfect angle to have caught all the snow but also be in the shade so none of it is melting. Nobody else on the street needs to shovel except me. I'm not going to do it out of principle. And also I don't have to go anywhere. But still. What if we ran out of tortilla chips?
The more important question is how is your alcohol cabinet? See the post two below you? That is extremely poor winter storm prep. Should be ashamed!!
Two types of tequila, triple sec, dry curacao, Cointreau, simple syrup. lime juice, and light agave on hand

My liquor cabinet filled up before the food did this last week.

Ran out of Cointreau recently without noticing. Haven't been able to make a proper margarita for days.
This is the worst outcome I've read about this storm. Have you tried Cointreau Noir in your margs by chance?

I bought that by mistake last time and rolled with it. Adds a smoother flavor. Has Brandy in it.

dry curacao? Haven't tried this. Typically use Grand Marnier and Cointreau......(to further derail this weather thread....)

We have probably made 50 different kinds of marg in the last two years. So yeah it's a nice change. I think it needed more sweetener compared to cointreau or triple sec if I'm not mistaken

Of the 50 kinds, what is the formula for the "go to 'rita"?

Two parts tequila, one part Cointreau, one part lime juice over rocks with salt. A margarita

Two parts tequila, hold the Cointreau, hold lime juice, no ice.

A perfect tequila

Anyone know how 121/183 is doing? Considering heading somewhere later but wouldn't be back until late tonight...don't want to chance a refreeze

Seems to be some discussion regarding a Valentines Day or just after winter event on Storm2k. Anybody got a feel for how it will play out?
Long range models are pretty similar to the summer hurricane models - anything more than 5 days out is likely going to change quite a bit

Uh, here's my latest experiment.

1 oz lime juice
1/2 oz agave syrup
1/2 oz water (or shake with ice)
1 oz triple sec
3 oz tequila

And then I serve it over ice with a twist of orange peel.

...it ain't normal. Like I said I have been playing with it for a while.

I have not been out so this is nothing but a huge guess, but my mid-cities side street with very little traffic is already clear. After the sun came out and the temp got above 30, and as someone said the wind helped, I think the ice on roads traveled either went to the side or dried up. I don't think there will be anything on the main part of the road to refreeze. Just on the sides, especially as more people get out.

Drove through sleet, ice, and snow Wednesday and now the furnace is out at the cabin. We are running space heaters and a roaring fire and got the place up to 50, but it was 34 in the great room this morning.

Now you're telling me when I return we will be having another storm?

Not before it gets up to 70. Maybe 80 degrees first

Thanks, I will try that.

For awhile I was going with 1/3 tequila, 1/3 light agave syrup and 1/3 fresh squeezed lime juice on the rocks. Sometimes I would add a little water to thin it out, and occasionally a splash of Grand Marnier.

Mine's boozy compared to that so feel free to adjust. I'm sure if I tried some simpler ones it'd taste fine but I've gone too far to see the light anymore

No, bumping to hopefully get an answer as well. This was on 30 coming into Rockwall earlier (not my video).

GFS model for week of the 14th has backed off and now barely shows even any rain happening. Cold front doesnt make it out of Oklahoma. Matches up with Weather.com's forecast. This was our snow event for the year.

There it is right there. But put just a little sugar in it sometimes.

And the lime juice is fresh squeezed, no questions.

Just drove to get a Covid test to hopefully fly out to Jamaica tomorrow.

Streets around Near Southside / Ryan Place to the TCU area are pretty much clear. Things are rapidly melting.

Not quite a purist's Marg but have been using this for years:

2 oz Tequila, 3/4 oz Triple Sec/Cointreau, 1.5 oz Rose's Sweetened Lime Juice, splash of sweet and sour, over ice.

If you want it smoother add a splash of Amaretto, but it's also much sweeter, may have to cut back on the sweetened lime juice or use real lime juice.

My drive way is completely shaded so took it upon myself to clear all the snow ice away with a shovel so we can leave tomorrow morning. Damn neighbor a few houses down (her driveway totally melted from direct sun) came over and complained that I was making too much noise with my shovel.

Just drove from Midlothian to Love Field. Roads weren't bad at all other than a couple icy bridges. Many stretches were not only melted but now dry.

Really? Good thing I would have been too stunned to hit her with said shovel. What is wrong with people?
