Lost my hydrangeas last night even though they are zone 4 cold hardy to -20 degrees.

They will come back in March/April.

We will see.

We had hydrangeas come back this spring after multiple days of below zero temps last winter. They should be fine.

Same. Mine came back stronger than ever this past spring after the freeze.

One troubling thing I've noticed over the last hew months - mi indian hawthornes, which I pulled up roots and all, are coming back. Not sure whether I want to let them live or try pulling them up again. They were pretty when they bloomed and I haven't put anything else in where they were.

Will citrus trees come back (lemon, lime, orange)?

They're "young" trees, less than a year.

Decent flurries in Plano

This wind finally cleaned out my trees. Leaves haven't dropped on normal schedule this year for some of my trees.

Backyard just one tree with a few leaves left. Need to rake leaves but too windy. Pool is a pain to keep skimmers clear.

My pool is a nightmare. I'm probably going to get a custom cover put in this year.

Yep!

I swear every time I do a brisket it snows. Decent flurries for the past hour in L Streets of Dallas.

Our bunny is not amused with my frequent leave cleaning. He has stopped running away when I go out

Lol same here. I thought to myself dang I need a freeze to kill these MFers off more often.

Hydrangeas are good down to -40 or something crazy. Did a double take on the tag when I put some in a few years ago. But, they are picky with being pruned properly and like acidic soil.

So there's a model out there called GFS on the 18z run that is pretty much calling for another huge arctic blast two weeks from now. One run calls for 12+" of snow for the metroplex.

No time to panic or prep but something to watch for sure over the next 10 days or so.

This is the potential arctic high pressure that could (but probably won't) bring the cold temps.

I pruned all of my hydrangeas after the first freeze. Probably should have before then. I've kind of been letting them go wild.

Almost 1.5 feet in southern Louisiana? I'd like to see that, for all my south LA family.

Any updates? My kids went crazy seeing like three snowflakes last week and they are hounding me for more snow. I don't make the dang weather! But I'll take credit for it if the forecast is right...

Precip chances look really low.....just hoping for cold snaps under 12 hours....tired of my pool running 24/7....

A whole lot of nothing. Just cold.

This might actually be a pretty big arctic front coming in with snow and ice next Wednesday and Thursday. Single digits projected for Friday morning on one of the models. Nothing set in stone yet, but something to keep an eye on.

Going to tease us with snow then hit us with an ice storm.

Arctic air is slated to arrive Wednesday and bring the threat of winter precip Wednesday night into Thursday morning as well as below normal temperatures through the end of the week.

seems to be trending towards something other than dry cold (aka a winter storm of some kind)....but 4-5 days away is still a long time

Don't think it will be the same, but this is kind of how things started last February.

Seemed pretty clear last year a few days before it was a major artic event....this seems more like an extreme and relatively short cold snap (vs extended week long event). Hope i am right.

Debating what to do with the pool but if we get closer and it stays only as only 48 hours straight below freezing will probably just let the pump run....last year I shut it down and while it was a pain trying to keep ice off the edges I was glad I did...i just don't see this being the same thing although I guess it could change....
