I'll say this, if Jozy is healthy he is probably still the starter up top right now. It would be great if one of these players could push him to the bench, because it's generally not great to rely on him staying healthy.

If you can't help us in '26, I don't want them playing.

On a related note to this camp, the roster we choose for the U-23/Olympics stuff will be just as important as the Men's team. All about getting these players reps together in different combinations. If a player isn't on the MNT for the start of qualifying, they need to realize if they play well and keep improving with the Youth teams they WILL get opportunities to play themselves into the squad.

So much of our player pool is in that age bracker where players will just make tremendous jumps in quality over 1-2 years.

There is a world cup in '22, and if he is better then he will play. Or even for the qualifying, if he is better at that time play the best players.

Yeah. I know. I don't think anyone that won't play in the '26 should play. Brooks and Stefan is probably the oldest ones I would play because you can still play those positions in your 30s.

It's not going to happen but that's my opinion.

If Jozy is our best then start him. But we really need someone better than him there.

We have played Panama 23 times. This is tied for the second biggest beat down we've given them. We beat them 6-0 in 2004 and 4-0 in 2017. Damn near every other match has ended 2-1 or 1-0. Say what you want about the lineups, no matter the circumstances we've only blown them out 2 other times.

We looked like the much more talented team damn near the entire game. While he was on the pitch, Reyna looked like the best player IMO. Musah stood out to me as well, we need to keep him.

61% Poss
6 corners
6 goals

Hell of a performance

I do really enjoy the club game, but I still think it just doesn't compare to the national games in terms of how much I care.
I even grew up playing and following the game and I still feel that way. Maybe it's different if you live in England or Germany, and the team you root for is actually your neighborhood/city team.

Yep, I was more speculating what will happen. I'm all on board with playing the kids with that same intent in mind.

This is my team too.

I follow players and not teams...and it all goes back to UNMNT.

Musah and Gioacchini's, and Soto's for that matter, caps during this Intl break do not cap-tie them to USA, since they were friendlies, right? How soon can USA get them cap-tied?

Correct...isn't it January?

I think it has to be an actual FIFA match (or whatever the terminology is), so the WC qualifying matches, Nations League matches are the ones that will cap tie a player.

I think Musah needs to file a one time switch to play for the US but not sure about Gioachinni.

We have loads of international tournaments/qualifiers coming up the next 12 months so we're going to need a decent depth of roster across multiple age groups.

I get the desire to not play anyone who isn't going help us in 2026, but I want to qualify and compete in WC2022 and other tourneys prior to that. If guys not on this current roster can help us do that, then they need to play.

would have liked to see Johnny play at 6 during this break. Are we at risk of Johnny getting looks from Brazil or Konrad from Spain before we can cap-ties these guys?

Johnny did play both games at the 6, subbing in for Adams both times.

I read that Musah does not because he only ever played friendlies for the England youth teams somehow

I don't think he did anything to hurt his stock and is definitely in contention for the backup spot. The nice thing is he may also be eligible for the U-23's as well.

Konrad will be fine as he is young and has played in the US youth teams; U-16, U-18 and U-20's. Definitely will be in consideration for U-23's/Olympic team.

Ok, I wasn't sure. Thought he may have captained England's youth team in official competitions.

Are these all the non-cap tied Intl players from the squad today? I'm not sure what risk USA has of not getting some of them (i.e. if Brazil has no interest in Johnny). Hopefully there are some FIFA cup events in the next few months were we can pretty much lock some of these guys down.

Johnny Cardoso: Brazil

Yunus Musah: England, Italy, Ghana

Nicholas Gioacchini: Italy, Jamaica

Konrad de la Fuente: Spain

Sebastian Soto: Chile (previously rejected a call-up that would have cap-tied him to Chile, not yet tied to USA)

Owen Otasowie: England

Chituru Odunze: Canada, England

Yea, I think the first one is in January.

Weah isn't cap-tied either.

oh yeah. I guess Weah has only played in friendlies. I wouldn't expect Liberia to be a risk for Weah, and he has previously said choosing USA over France was easy, but if France really wants him and he's not tied yet, you never know.

Weah, Soto and de la Fuente all featured on multiple youth teams prominently so hopefully that will emotionally tie them to the senior team more.

Gotcha. I was thinking of the traditional January camp/friendlies. I didn't realize there were official matches in January. WC Qualifying doesn't start until March so that's why I was confused.

I may be wrong but I could've sworn we had one then. May be March.

I think Musah is the main one I'd like to get tied down. I thought he was the best performer over the two games. England has a pretty young talent pool, a lot of which are starting to play significant minutes for Premier League teams. Basically its gonna be a long road to break into that team whereas I'd say he looks like he should be starting (as did a lot of these young guys) for our first team.
