Nice! That's pretty amazing progress. Our time is coming!

Man I hope he can pull off the upset next week and move on to the knockout round. His team is fun to watch.akm91 said:
Don't forget a coach too! - Oops RB Salzburg played on 12/1 and not 12/2.
I'm not saying we need to move on from Berhalter yet (though I wouldn't be opposed if things don't change as we shift into qualifying), but whenever we do Marsch better basically be "the list".deadbq03 said:Man I hope he can pull off the upset next week and move on to the knockout round. I hate to say it, but I think Marsch is already too prestigious for the job.fig96 said:I'm not saying we need to move on from Berhalter yet (though I wouldn't be opposed if things don't change as we shift into qualifying), but whenever we do Marsch better basically be "the list".deadbq03 said:Man I hope he can pull off the upset next week and move on to the knockout round. If the figures I saw are accurate, he already makes 4x Berhalter's salary.
In all likelihood, he's going to end up somewhere that pays 10x or more whenever he's ready to move on.
I can absolutely see that, but he's also said as recently as this summer that he's hopeful to coach the national team at some point. We can hope.deadbq03 said:I hate to say it, but I think Marsch is already too prestigious for the job.fig96 said:I'm not saying we need to move on from Berhalter yet (though I wouldn't be opposed if things don't change as we shift into qualifying), but whenever we do Marsch better basically be "the list".deadbq03 said:Man I hope he can pull off the upset next week and move on to the knockout round. He could snap his fingers and get a mid-table Bundesliga job that pays 3x Berhalter's salary whenever he wants it. (He might already be making that much; having trouble finding his current salary).

There is no such thing as being too prestigious for a national team job. National teams have top tier coaches all the time, it mostly has to do with availability at the time the national team is looking for a new coach.deadbq03 said:I hate to say it, but I think Marsch is already too prestigious for the job.fig96 said:I'm not saying we need to move on from Berhalter yet (though I wouldn't be opposed if things don't change as we shift into qualifying), but whenever we do Marsch better basically be "the list".deadbq03 said:Man I hope he can pull off the upset next week and move on to the knockout round. I definitely agree about a top tier club being seen as more prestigious than a ntaional team. I've also read that Marsch is considered in line for RB Leipzig as well. I think, from interviews I have read and seen with Marsch, that he definitely intends to coach for the national team at some point.deadbq03 said:
Fair points on salary. We did pay Klinsmann far better.
But I think in terms of prestige, it's absolutely possible to be well beyond a national team job.
Klopp, Pep, and Zidane make 3-5 times the salary of their home countries' national teams, and I'd argue that all three are more popular than those countries' coaches. (Shoot I can't even put a name to Spain's).
You're correct on timing; if any of the above got sacked, they might be more than willing to go coach for their countries... and given Klopp's comments on not renewing his Liverpool contract, he seems like the kind of guy that would go back home and coach the national team... but that's what it'd be - a voluntary step back into a new role that's more challenging when soccer is being played, but less challenging on a day to day basis.
Some folks think Marsch could be next in line for the BVB job. That's one example of a job within his reach that would absolutely be more prestigious than USMNT.
I dont think we have ever done that in WCQ, so that seems unrealisticLook guys... said:

Yeah. You'd be pretty hard pressed to score 9 goals against 6 year old Germans.jeffk said:
