Maybe we can see if Weah plays 9 today in the 2nd half.

Weah's not a 9.

Soto is a true 9...
I know. I'm not suggesting that I think Weah is a 9. I'm suggesting that Greg will put Weah in at 9.

I thought you meant see if he is the answer.

Agreed, the potential he's showing at his age is something I'd love to lock down for this squad.

He really might be. Lots of guys that have never quite lived up to their potential: Wood, Morris, Johansson, Zardes.

Weah and Sargent are probably the other true strikers in our active pool, Soto has potential as well.
Pretty sure Weah is more of a winger
He subbed at center forward for Lille last match but does play all over. Definitely not a true 9.

Yeah. Brooks has played the 9 for Wolfsburg. Doesn't make him a 9.

Llanez with a nice little rip towards goal.

I just don't really understand playing Lletget out of position for 75 minutes. You could maybe talk me into seeing what he can do for 45 minutes, just to see if its an option depth-wise in the future.

In order to be allowed a useless consonant on your name you have to over play guys because they are MLS.

Duh.

Waiting until 10 minutes are left to finally bring a forward on in a friendly is pretty idiotic.

Been really impressed box to box with the team today, but goal scoring and chance creation have been lacking. Also a couple of scary moments on defense.

Gregg knew he needed to do something to keep us feeling ill-content.

Yep. My same thoughts. The good news is one of the best playmakers in the EPL is an American.

Yep, overall a LOT to like in this game.

I saw speculation that maybe Lletget will only be playing in this game...I don't think that makes the decision any better.

Amen. That should've happened at the 60 mark, if not halftime. It was literally the only thing lacking in the first half.

Thats what Ol Greg does. Play players out of position with average tactics and zero adaptation

Jozy with this young talent around him would be good. Yes, if healthy, he's still our best 9. Zardes hustles, and is a good complimentary player. He's not able to hold a ball like Jozy and Sargent though, and those are our two best options IMO.

I'm hopeful one of Johansson and Wood find their way back from the wilderness. We never got an extended run with Johansson, who was technically skilled.

Wood, for all the criticism he seems to get, was a pretty good USMNT player IMO.

Also, call me crazy, but I haven't completely written Julian Green off. Longshot, but still young enough.

Eddie Gaven didn't turn out either. That early 2000 generation (Convey/Adu/Gaven/Szcetela/Spector) really didn't contribute much to the USMNT. Luckily, Dempsey came out of nowhere.

A few nitpicks there, Convey may not have turned out to be a huge name but he spent a few years in the Premier League and had 46 caps for the national team, played in a World Cup. Not a star and was never a goalscorer, but definitely a quality player who contributed.

Spector had a good European career as well, again not a star (and most defenders aren't) but a quality national team player.

My criticism of Convey and Spector is that they didn't really have longevity. I wouldn't describe either as a USMNT mainstay, and that's the disappointment. Obviously, injuries played a role with Convey, but he was still in his mid-20s when he made his last USMNT appearance. As for Spector, I would guess Jay DeMerit has more caps, and that's not a knock on Demerit, just saying that's disappointing for a prospect like Spector, who had Manchester United on his resume at a time when very few USMNT prospects were valued by the Euro powers. Spector never really graduated from "prospect" to mainstay IMO.
