It seems to me he quickly adjusted his tactics after that first round of games with Mexico/Canada, no?

I think he still has some questionable choices overall, but it's better than it was

Lol don't put words in my mouth! Berhalter is a coach who has never won anything. He was .500 in MLS. He got hired by his brother essentially. He doesn't have the credentials to be here. Forgive me if I just can't get behind this guy.

I think he's been adaptable and has made some significant changes in the way the team plays.
  • Team is counter pressing aggressively in the attacking zone for quick ball recovery
  • Using the fullbacks to provide width down both flanks and wingers tucking inside (gone is the RB/LB becoming CM/CB)

Some of it has to do with the increase talent in player pool from when he started to now.
  • Dest deciding to play for US (how much did Berhalter influence the decision?)
  • Reyna's emergence
  • Mckennie's growth (due to playing only 1 role at Juve)

Jury is still out on if he and the team can handle WCQ but I'm very cautiously optimistic.

With the talent he has if he doesn't qualify he should be executed.

The language is poor. They're comparing the new guys to the generation before. None of those guys were in the generation before.

The language is poor. They're comparing the new guys to the generation before. None of those guys were in the generation before.
I'd say Donovan, Dempsey, Onyewu, Howard and Beasley were from the last generation. Only Donovan and Beasley were on the 2002 World Cup squad. Howard was capped in 2002. Onyewu, Dempsey got their first cap in 2004.

The older roster here was pretty much all in their prime about 10 years ago.

As a whole the only thing I'd change would probably be to swap out Bedoya, he was a solid role player but never at the level of pretty much anyone else in the lineup. IMO Fabian Johnson would be a better choice and probably better suited for that formation.

And my money is on the old guys by a goal...I'd expect that to change within a few years.
