Great video! All the really successful teams I've coached or played for had above average 6s. Such a vital position.
Nice to see some urgency.Quote:
United States midfielder Tyler Adams said the "it's all or nothing" for the USMNT for qualifying for the 2022 World Cup -- if and when international play resumes.
"I really have to prepare myself that the next time I put on the U.S. jersey, it's all or nothing, there's no more preparation matches," Adams told ESPN's Taylor Twellman. "It's either you go out there and win or we're not going to another World Cup."
I generally played centrally as an attacking mid, sometimes in a 3-5-2 but usually 4-4-2. Our coach stressed a version of total football, so we would have a lot of practices/scrimmages where we play in all sorts of positions, but generally for games that's where I played. As I got into junior high and high school, I hit my growth spurt to 6'2 and tended to play more as a second striker ala Bergkamp.jeffk said:

I applaud the USMNT players standing up for what they believe in, but wish they would be more informed before speaking out on political topics.

I only know who you are because I want to watch you play soccer.
I am all for that as well. I just don't let it have any impact on how I feel about them in regards to the MNT.jeffk said:
I'm glad they're using their platform to advocate for causes they feel passionate about.
Then we better not see you in any threads when WCQ starts. Because you stand by your convictions, and some 20 year old kids talking about what they think offends you.texagbeliever said:
USA was the first country to be so advanced that it had the bandwidth to address the notion of racism. These star players gladly play in more racist countries in front of more racist fans because of the prestige and money. So sorry if I stop caring to support these hypocritical spoiled puppets.
This is 100% whataboutism distraction material.Mr. White said:
I hope Pulisic, Adams, Steffen, Long, etc. boycott the '22 World Cup (if they make it) since they have come out publicly against racism. Stadiums built by slaves and stuff.

And I think everyone feels a little more compelled to protest, to do some activism, when it comes to their own country; when it comes to the country whose colors they wear.
How about the players? Would it be OK for an opposing player kneeling during the Qatari national anthem? It's certainly easier and safer to kneel during your own national anthem on home soil but to do it during an opposing team's anthem at an away game requires much more assurance and bravado. As an example, Rapinoe kneeling in protest during the US national anthem at a NWSL match in Seattle seems much safer and easier than kneeling during the Mexican anthem while playing in Azteca.Pahdz said:
I would love it if a country took a stand to boycott Qatar but the odds are so slim.
Neither I nor anyone has said do not care; but calling someone hypocrite without addressing the issue at hand is the definition of whataboutism.texagbeliever said:Yeah why care about the hundreds of thousands of men living 10-20 a room in no air conditioning with little food who have had their passports seized. They arent americans so they arent human? The atrocities they are experiencing make all your problems trivial. They have no hope. They have no future. Their existence is not much above a concentration camp. You cant even grasp the despair they feel.TXAggie2011 said:This is 100% whataboutism distraction material.Mr. White said:

OR, you could just think they are dumb, and watch the games anyways. You don't have to be invested in their lives to enjoy soccer.
