I'm really enjoying this season. Awesome to see the script flipped and the hosts now control the humans. Curious to see what happened to the wider world during that 20+ year span the hosts took control.

What's up with human William? Wasn't his throat cut in episode 1? And since he was already like 80 years old, is he now 110 years?

We never saw him die, Halores/host William patched him up immediately after (implied, not seen), and the body suit/cryo pod thing has been keeping him alive ever since. That, and they've only woken him up twice now in 30 years to talk to him.

Anybody know what the streaming numbers are? Is it enough to offset a 85% drop in HBO viewership. Wow.

The show has no doubt dropped in viewership over four seasons, but I would be shocked if the HBO Max numbers haven't increasingly accounted for a sh*t ton of eyeballs. I mean, streaming apps hardly existed in 2016, and now I don't watch TV on anything but. In other words, those numbers are likely highly skewed, and that article is yet another one of those weird takes from Outkick/Clay Travis where they gleefully celebrate ratings dips without fully understanding the numbers.

The reddit episode discussion threads don't have nearly the same amount of traffic as seasons 2 and 3. I Wouldn't be surprised if it had a decent drop-off, 85% seems high

One potential thing about HBO ratings. For a minute there, HBO was unavailable on Dish Network. I don't know the subscription numbers for total Dish users, but I imagine a ton of them didn't get HBO max or re-sub to HBO when Dish added it back. There might be some cable providers in that boat, as well.

Another solid episode, it did feel like there was some filler in this one but the layers keep getting peeled back, this show is such a slow burn. I really loved the interactions with Hale and William, especially seeing the cracks appearing with Hale in the form of her self mutilation on the arm. Makes you think of the whole concept of if God made man in his image, what does that say about God? Now the hosts are making man in their imagine, who were an image of themselves, the problem with man is becoming their own problem, creation coming full circle.

Unless I'm missing something has it been said that the hosts turned NYC into their own Westworld, or is it just understood?

I'm really looking forward to Maeve being brought back and interacting with Caleb the host.
In the skyline, there were buildings from Shanghai and Hong Kong, so I think it is an updated Westworld. May also be why they were in the desert and go to NYC in 1 day. Or maybe everything else is a wasteland. Who knows?

I'm curious about the rest of the world as well. The humans rebel leader said that they are the last free humans, so that implies that all other humans across the world are dead besides those in New York.

At one point during this last episode, Host William says to Halores, "The world is ours. We've taken our masters and made them into what they made us. By any definition we have conquered them to an almost biblical degree." So, yeah, it sounds like all the humans are either dead or slaves, save for the rebels.

I guess my biggest question is, are there any other "parks" besides New York? Because it sounds New York might be it, which would mean that the humans in New York are basically all that's left. If so, I wonder how many hosts are out there living in the world? And how much of the world is uninhabited by either hosts or humans now?

Westworld has the same problem that planets in Star Wars have. Smallness. Is everything just an hour or 2 away?

Maybe worth nothing that it's unclear how many humans were even left to begin with.

There's been a lot of allusions to major events/wars/etc in the past.

Liked that episode also. The elaborate trap for Caleb was wild. Someone on here called the rebel leader being switched.

Can't find the post so maybe it wasn't here.

Fell behind on vacation so watched 5&6 today.

So. Much. SciFi. Awesome.

Sure I'll have a bunch more thoughts, but that was just peak level sci-fi. Caleb was a bit of a remix of the William vs William episode from last season. BUT WITH A WILLIAM VS WILLIAM SUB PLOT!!!!

And the mirror of Hale wondering if she's being betrayed while the search for the rebel mole is going on.

Episode 6 was so good I almost can't remember what happened in 5 which I watched right before, but Delores walking up was cool.

Also from 5ish pages back, I was right about why Hale kept Caleb

It looked like when they had the flashback and freed the first guy, it was in a SoCal location not NYC. So I took that to mean that there were a bunch of city/parks around the world. Although that would pose a logistical issue for Delores to write ALL the stories.

-Scene about "dont call me that, you're not my real brother" ... nice sentiment, but felt like bad writing/acting
- nice call back about 48 minutes into it though with "you're my sister, you're like family to me" being the giveaway

That was a great last scene between Caleb and Fake-Charlotte on top of the building.
Wonder what her plan is with 279 and beyond.

I wonder if the mole leader host killed all the other outliers that were with the team or not.

Have to admit I haven't loved these last two episodes. Kinda dull. Feels like they're treading water a bit.

I believe the intention is that it made him appear dead, so the drone triggered the room to be burnt.
But in actuality it was all just a setup by Charlotte to find out what he would do and what made him 'different'

One thing that confused the hell out of me was the opening scene with Caleb's wife and daughter. The daughter hadn't aged a day since the last time we saw her, yet the city they were in, with all the controlled humans, featured Halores' parasite tech that was so far beyond and so much more advanced than the last time we saw the wife/daughter, in the same, seven-years-after-season-three timeline. Remember, in that timeline, the parasite tech was still in its infancy, and was perfected over the next 23 years, as Halores eventually took control of the world. So how had she already taken over an entire city during that timeline, in what couldn't have been more than a few months since Caleb died and Maeve was buried?

This is probably a "we didn't want a 3rd actor to play a different age Frankie so the audience immediately knows what's happening" moment.
TCTTS
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
Yeah, I guess that makes sense. It was just so disorienting at first because I assumed that was the host version of Caleb's daughter, we were in the 23-years-later timeline, and she just hadn't aged (since she was a host, obviously). And maybe that's what they wanted us to think, but it ended up just being confusing more than anything. That said, I get that the third-actor-playing-the-same-part thing could have been even more confusing.

Btw, with Maeve and Frankie teaming up at the end, in the Westworld saloon of all places, I'm starting to wonder if Frankie is almost meant to be Maeve's surrogate daughter in a way. Not plot-wise, but more in terms of the "fate" of the show, if that makes sense. The shot of the two of them standing together at the bar, with the exact same hair and skin tone, just really gave me the distinct impression that Frankie is almost meant to be Maeve's second chance at having a daughter of sorts, considering Maeve lost her daughter and Frankie has lost both of her parents. Which is cool and even poignant because it was kind of implied a couple episodes ago that Caleb and Maeve may or may not have had a more-than-friends relationship at one point. I'm not at all suggesting a Blade Runner 2049 situation, I'm just saying that for Maeve to get to feel a kind of maternal instinct for the daughter of a human she loved, after all this time, is pretty cool. And the fact that they now get to go kick ass together makes it even better.

So Jay, or whatever his name is, was like a teen so it can't be the full 23 years. That's probably obvious. I guess once Hale got the park open she was able to accelerate the parasites? Maybe already had part of the fake city built for people she infected? Could have only been a year or so.

I don't watch the after episode stuff, maybe it's talked about

I've thought this was a route they were taking all along. They definitely didn't give Caleb a daughter with that skin color for no reason.

Yeah, the Jay of it all seems to line up, age-wise. I could easily see Hale having taken over a good chunk of the world, say, five years after the last time we say Frankie and her mom. But that would mean Frankie should have been five years older as well. Again, I get why they didn't want to cast a third actress to play Frankie, but that opening scene also wasn't necessary either. IMO, it wasn't worth the confusion.
