season 1 was so bad ass. to this day, i've attempted to finish season 2 a couple of times and have failed.

The premise of a dystopian future where customer information is used by AI to make decisions and blackmail people is not a bad idea for show... but not when it takes place in a show about freakin' killer robots and sex robots in theme parks.

I don't have any recollection about who is alive or dead or a host.

Anyone who was alive is now dead or a host.

I wish they could have found a way to do more park stuff, it was so unique and now it's just blah robots taking over. Will still watch, but it's just fine down hill from an interest stand point.

It's a tough call. The park stuff was definitely better, but I could also see it getting old fast had we spent much more time there with it being fully operational.

Still, it *does* feel like the show almost skipped a season. Ideally, I wish they could have found a way to do two seasons with the park fully operational, followed by a season in the park after everything went to hell, and then in season four we'd finally be in the real world, as opposed to season three. Basically, the massacre/Hopkins' death should have come at the end of season two instead the end of season one.

I mean they could have also just had 2/3 great seasons, and ended the whole thing in the park, but that goes against everything Hollywood is for. I get the $$$ but I hate how shoes exsist mainly to get renewed and dying the longer their on rather than finding great endings and being content with only a few great seasons

That's one of the reasons I have gotten more into the Korean shows.
It's one season and done most of the time. They tell their story and leave, makes for a better show.

From the trailer I'm not certain that the "real world" isn't a park.

Should clarify, i don't mean like the whole world is a park, but that there's a lot more hosts/control/etc in the real world than anyone thinks.

Yeah, something's definitely up. Last season's real world location/setting was LA, and this season looks to be New York, but I'm wondering if it's ultimately some kind of "New York World"? Either that, or Charlores' hosts have started to infiltrate the real world? I have no idea…

The model in the room, the logo looking like that tower, etc. A lot of clues that this world isn't what it seems.

Yep, for sure. Also, in the HBO trailer at the beginning of the year, for all its 2022 shows, there was a shot of Caleb outside, in the city location (presumably New York), and every person around him was frozen.

The show ends with the entire series being revealed to be layers upon layers of the maze, Ford's plan to awaken hosts.

Everyone in the show is revealed to be a host.

Nah, they're all real people that got turned into hosts because all real people died hundreds of years ago.

I just want to see some post fall of civilization action per that Bernard scene at the end of last season. They best not skimp on that. Was one of the few promising developments from what made for a pretty poor season overall.

I think most Sci-Fi shows that end on the premise that your fate can be successfully determined by a computer program usually end up crappy, mainly because most people reject the idea of pre-determinism. Most people don't like the idea that they aren't in control of their own life.

Some stuff on what is happening in season 4. Minor spillers I suppose, but it's from an interview with the cast and creators.

Yeah, it's sounding more and more like this "city that looks like New York" is some kind of extension of the park in some way, or is maybe some kind of experimental offshoot/testing ground or something.

Two weeks out from the S4 premiere.

Thought we'd have a second trailer by now, but I guess they're holding back until later this week? Either way, it's crazy (but completely understandable) how much they've paired back the marketing of this season compared to seasons past. Season three, for instance, had FOUR trailers, the first of which debuted over a year before the season premiered.

Why would they not market this season as heavily as past seasons?

I think because a big part of the audience really soured on last season. Going into season three, the show still had a ton of intrigue/momentum, with the characters leaving the park and entering the real world for the first time. People were legit excited for that. But season three ended on such a weird note, with not a lot of momentum and a number of complaints, so my guess is HBO is expecting a smaller audience this go around, thus they're not going to waste the advertising dollars. That, and I don't know how many new viewers they can bring in for the fourth season of a complex sci-fi series.

Either way, I'm hoping the under-the-radar vibe results in a better season, if only because expectations are no longer sky high. We shall see…

Season 1 was fantastic, season two great, season 3 not great.

Also the post credits scenes for both season 2 & 3 were dumb and locked them into things that don't make sense (although they probably just ignore both?)

I will watch another season, but I'm not sure they needed to do anything after season one. Go out on top like Watchmen

Was thinking about cancelling HBO Max until the new GoT, but then I remembered this is coming out soon.

They know what they're doing when they schedule their shows.

This looks wild...

- New York/Manhattan World confirmed?

- Gangster World?

- A big Hoover Dam sequence.

- And what looks to be confirmation that the real William has been kept alive.

Against my better judgment, I kind of can't wait...

My guess…
Iwe will find out at the end of the season it's all a simulation to see how humans respond, or it's Bernard's dream from the sublime to follow up the season 3 end.
But that could, and likely will be proven wrong five minutes in to the first episode .

I still put it in spoiler tags because on the (less than)1 percent chance I am right, I don't want to ruin the season like the season 1 thread did for me. One of the best reveals in modern TV history and it was posted here a month or more before it happened. I hate having to avoid otherwise great threads here because with the bigger shows, with all the guesses someone often gets pieces of the twists right. And that ruins the fun, at least for me.

Cautiously optimistic.

Still too much confused Dolores face and perplexed heavy breathing Caleb face.

The trailer made me realize how tiresome these characters are.

Bernard is about the only one I still find interesting. Since all the other are robots that can be copied or reprinted infinity times, the show has to find another gimmick and so it has pivoted to a theme park of the week plot device.

Can't tell if I'm in or if I'll binge this once it is over. The first season was so good that I keep hoping it will get back to that.

I thought Westworld was absolutely brilliant up to the moment where we learned that people could be brought back from the "dead." At that point, it felt like there were no stakes whatsoever in the battle between Maeve and Dolores and I ceased to care much about what happened to them.
