Force sensitive healer. I think in some books they said some Force sensitives became healers if they weren't powerful enough to become Jedi.

At least my take

That bix scene was so sad. What an incredible 3 episode arc

The "reporter" reciting Partagaz's language verbatim about the Ghorman "terrorist" acts was absolutely chilling.

This show is on another level. Wow.

Wow. That series made up for any doubt about slowness in 1-3. That was wall to wall. Love seeing K2 come to be. I really thought Syril would flip and Dedra would die. Maybe she flips next. But I was wild to see Syril come unhinged, just for Andor to ask 'who are you?'. I figured then he'd get killed standing there but thought it might be randomly by a storm trooper.

E8 felt a lot like it a Les Mis vibe.

I really wish that could have worked it out but to recast Organa.

I'll have to re-watch all 3 before next week. Way too much to take in.

I love this freaking show.

Loved the escape from the Senate, and obviously everything in episode 8 was incredible.

We got the Syril flip that I predicted back in S1, but I didn't expect him to try to kill Andor. Definitely not the heroic death that perhaps would've been too predictable.

Speaking of, I saw a lot of people predicting a Bix death, but I just didn't see that. I knew the more emotional gut punch would be to watch Rogue One, knowing that Bix was out there waiting for Cassian to come home. Ugh, brutal.

If you're curious about the second Mon Mothma speech we didn't see, here it is.

I'd been predicting we were going to see that speech but they danced around it pretty effectively

Man, that was epic. Incredible writing and acting. This gives so much more depth and meaning to Cassian's story in Rogue One.

I think part of the reason the story is so compelling is that the rebels at this point aren't relying on the Force. They are individuals in a desperate struggle against a vastly superior enemy who have given up their comfortable lives and risking everything for a cause most understand they won't survive, but one worth fighting the battles so others can win the war. Magnificent storytelling.

Cassian dropping the "Who are you?" was awesome. How much of a kick in the nuts was it for Karn to have thought about Andor all this time and then your arch enemy has no idea who you even are.

Curious to see what happens with Dedra. Does losing the only man who ever showed her any love harden or break her. It also came across even without Syril that she either doesn't have the stomach for what the Empire is really doing or that she is realizing she is just as much a piece on the board as he was

So from 2 BBY on, Cassian is taking every daredevil mission, every risk, every suicide mission hoping that it's the one that wins the war and lets him reunite with Bix. Man that is heartbreaking.

I'd put Episode 8 on par with anything from the first season. So much to dissect there.

And a second one Benjamin Bratt. The franchise that changes scenes in movies every 5 years can't get Bail Organa in some isolation green screen? I hate to be bitter, but Bratt has none of Smits' gravitas for that role.

I thought Bratt was great this episode.
I've liked Jimmy Smits in a lot of things, but his performance as Bail isnt anything special.
I get why people might love the character jsut based on who they are in the world of star wars, of course.

Going to have to rewatch those again, so many moments in each episode that were excellent. Need to give them all their due praise.

The actor who played Syril definitely needs an Emmy nom for Episode 8. Think how hard it must have been to go off on Dedra like that when they've worked together so much.
His getting berated by the elder Ghorman leader in the street was fantastic as he comes full circle to realize that he's been a stool pigeon since Day 1.
His fight with Andor was brutal. then getting to the point of the realization that your arch-nemesis has no idea who you even are.

I also really was interested in how shocked Mon Mothma was to see people getting shot. That's the level of immunity she's had per Luthen all this time - totally cut off from how the real world works. Her getting in the line that the monster is Emperor Palpatine before they cut the power was fantastic.

Lots of little things were just so excellent as well. Her driver - an ISB plant all this time - suddenly having a real crisis of how much he wants to get involved, staring at the gun in his car.
The young clerk in the hotel not only remembering Andor, but hooking him up with the best view of the plaza, knowing he must be doing something important, and then having the grenade himself to F things up.

The KX droids looking like 6 Terminators marching out, and then being so brutal. Just picking people up and smashing them to death. The first one that kicked the barrier 50 feet into that woman, I was sitting alone on the couch and said HOLY SHHH out loud, which I never do when watching TV.

I could talk about those episodes all day.

Maybe Bix ends up going back to Mina Rau and picking up B2EMO. Poor droid just got abandoned. Can't believe we're gonna go through the whole season with no Cass-Bee sees.

Heartbreaking to know that Bix probably ends up waiting on some planet for the next 6 years hoping for Cass to walk through the door and it never happens. Hell, I was kind of expecting them to reveal she was pregnant in there as well.

Wow. What a great 3 new episodes. IMO first three weren't great, second thee took a huge leap up and the most recent three took another jump up in quality and stakes.

The dude that killed the rebel girl redeemed himself somewhat by saving Cassian.

What what the significance of the guy attached to the gun?

Senate speech and escape was super tense. Well done.

Bix leaving him to force him to stay in the rebellion was cold.

The origin story of K-2SO! What a great unexpected surprise.

Only special thing about me is luck and I've overplayed my hand already.

It was Melshi - the guy Cassian escaped the prison with, who also appears in Rogue One. I think the gun was one that she gave Cassian before the mission on Aldhani and he probably had stowed in that hotel room he had the money in before he got sent to prison.

On Yavin? That's Melshi, the guy who escaped prison with Cassian. And I think the gun is the one Cassian stole from Syril in S1E3. So a corpo blaster. They talked about it on Aldhani when Skeen was asking questions on how Cassian got it. Then Cassian gave it to Melshi when they split up.

Vel must recognize it as Cassian's

I will probably regret making this post. I'm sorry in advance if this kills the thread.

That Ghorman plaza scene was one of the most intense and harrowing scenes I've seen on TV in a while. I couldn't stop comparing it to the way watching Jan. 6 unfold live made me feel. Then watching the fallout afterwards on how it was covered in the news and talked about in Congress.
That sense of shock, disgust, helplessness, and confusion about feelings were all very similar to me. Depending on what your opinion of what happened on Jan 6 - whether peaceful protest or violent insurrection - you could find parallels with both sides of the Ghorman conflict to that day. People who believe one way about Jan. 6 will think one way about the Ghormans and another about the Imperials, and people who disagree with them about Jan. 6 can see the complete opposite on the two sides, maybe even the same on the two sides. I don't know if that an intentional or accidental inclusion by the writers. Either way brilliant writing for a Star Wars show to include that kind of commentary and invoke those kinds of feelings.

I know I see people on here all the time stating that politics doesn't belong in their entertainment. But I've always disagreed with that. Using entertainment as commentary on history and the present is as old as entertainment itself. Especially in Science Fiction. Using Science Fiction to comment on modern times is one of the hallmarks of Science Fiction. All of our favorite entertainment that sticks around for generations and makes us feel strong emotions has some sort of hidden (or not so hidden) message that can be interpreted differently by different people.

I didn't expect a Star Wars show to make me feel this way, remind me of recent troubled past, and make me lose sleep. I thank it for making me feel something.

Staff, if some people out there can't be adults and keep this commentary around the show, please delete this and anything referencing it.

Come on man, there are common sense rules that are easy to follow that make this forum one to visit. Not bringing politics to the discussion being at the top of the list.

I don't think Bratt is a bad actor at all. It's more that Smits has always been Organa in every single SW project, even just a few years ago.

If I were you I'd move this to f116. I'm sure plenty of people watch the show there. It would be great not to turn Andor into American politics.

I wish they had given Syril about 2-3 seconds longer to think about his life before he got shot. More emotions to work through - Cassian doesn't even know me? Am I a rebel? Did I cause this by chasing Cassian?

But having him go out because the pacifist leader shot him (who you see broken over it later in the episode), one of the few who would know he was an imperial was great.

Also some predictions. I think Dedra catches one of our main players and lets them go over guilt for Syril

Bix dies still. Otherwise Cassian should have mentioned her during Rogue One.

Also, the rebels rewriting Mons escape to be escorted in by a fleet so they could have the propaganda was brilliant. A good revolutionary movement would absolutely do that and it retcons the Rebels series

So many things to cover from last night. No way to cover them all.

I'll start with this one.

This show is called Andor. Season 1 I was not sure about this title. Thought it maybe should have been something else.

But now I totally get it. Almost every important character is interlaced with a great ark tied to him. I'm not sure I have ever seen a show do it as well as they have with him.

One random thought. Dedra breaking down after the massacre, what took place with her and Syril and immediately getting back into her mechanical personality was nuts. Going to be interesting to see where they go with her.

Hate it. Basically eliminates water cooler talk because it's tough to get the whole arc watched when life is busy. We've had to wait till the weekend each of the last 2 weeks to finish it.
Agree completely. It's going too fast. There are little things I'm not picking up and don't have much time to read up on them. I just finished episode six last night and was surprised when it started to roll into episode seven.

Also, we're halfway through the season now, what are everyone's thoughts on the Three-Episodes-at-Once format?

Personally, I've loved it.
I think it's a weird format to present the show in. It's almost being presented as an anthology series. I keep thinking that instead of three one hour episodes each week it would be better as a ~2 hour movie once a week.

Also weird that most of the first three episodes have been irrelevant to the following six. The only thing that seemed to matter was the Imperial Ghorman meeting.

Watched this morning, as my internet was being a jerk last night. Wow. During episode 8, my mouth stayed open at what I was witnessing. And someone just put that episode up for awards and nominate all the major players because they all killed their performances. Interesting to see how they wrap this all up

I think my one fly in the ointment of the perfection of these 3 episodes was that Bail Organa winds up making it from Coruscant to Yavin to Alderaan after all this goes down. How could he possibly have not been arrested and interrogated after helping Mon Mothma take the floor at the Senate? He knew about Yavin and about the plot to get MM off Coruscant. Hard to imagine they wouldn't have detained him immediately as a co-conspirator.
