I definitely think one or both of them is going to go out in some sort of bombing
It might be too fast to develop it all, but what if it's something like what happens in Valkyrie where Luthen tried set off a bomb in the Imperial Palace. Or somewhere Palpatine is supposed to be. This is probably a better fan fic than an Andor arc, but it would be crazy to see it almost work, but Palpatine uses the Force to survive. Do we think Luthen or Mon Mothma or any of the others know he's got the Force? Clearly Bail Organa would, surely Yoda tells him what happens on Coruscant at the end of ROTS, but does Bail Organa spread that news around?

Man this show is so good. What a breath of fresh air from all the other Star Wars stuff that's gotten pumped out in recent years. That 3rd arc was some of the best television I've watched. I can only assume ep 8 was the one that got all the hype in the tweets posted in the earlier pages.

I hated Bix leaving but I love how they cut that scene together. Surely this isn't the last we've seen of her? My guy Cassian got put in a tough spot in R1. Sure I wouldn't rush Felicity Jones out of the house before a roommate saw her, but I'd probably be be keeping my horizons clear knowing Adria Arjona was out there somewhere too.

Awesome 3 episode arc. Imagine if the prequel trilogy had been written with this level of intrigue and sharpness? I wonder where they go with the final 3 episodes. It's gotta be all about the death star and setup for Rogue 1, right?

I bet the series ends with Bix looking up at the sky after the rebellion has won
And with Syril's mom killing Dedra with help from Uncle Harlo.
Thanks and gig'em

Quote:

Bratt way better as Bail than Jimmy Smits.
Agree. Bratt seems to be the bettor actor by far, much better at conveying emotion. Smits was wooden and too stoic.

This show is so damn good. 8/9 were master classes in building almost unescapable tension. The character arcs are well done, heart breaking at times, and unexpected in the case of Bix.

The Ghorman massacre had me thinking 1939 Poland or French underground. I told my wife that the biggest reason I like The Phantom Menace so much is the depiction of Palpatine using the legal system to eventually take tyrannical power, much as Hitler did in 1930s Germany. I love seeing these historical allegories in Star Wars.

Mon's speech was fantastic, great work from the actress. But the escape from the Senate was just so well done. I only thought she had seen the true price of rebellion when she has her friend killed and she danced at the wedding, but that was nothing compared to what she saw in 9. It is obvious to her that she has lost everything important to her, and her freedom/life is next.

Also loved how they brought K2S0 into the show.

Wondering if Dedra might find herself given a new posting - the Death Star.

If I had any complaint about 9, it was that I had hoped to see Palps even if via hologram. But that does not lessen the show at all.

Cannot wait for the concluding episodes.

I know it was sort of laid out above but now I'm struggling hard when the prequels are happening in relation to this. We are obviously running parallel to ROTS but would love to see a more detailed side by side of that with this.

This is all happening in the period between ROTS and Rogue One. It is running in the time period of the rebels cartoons etc

Not running parallel to ROTS at all. Season 2 of Andor is happening 15-19 years after ROTS

Yeah, this is years after ROTS. It is literally leading straight into Rogue One, which leads straight into Star Wars.

I have no sense of time for theatrical universes. All I can tell you is that this Episode 7,8, and 9 has to be better than the ST Episodes 7,8, and 9 which some people tell me supposedly take place after the OT.

I wouldn't know about that as no such films were ever made.

Obviously this is 4 years old so its a shade different. Every tick is a year. Andor is happening across the same time span as Rebels on this graft

Skimming back but not going to catch everything that's been said, general thoughts after ep 9.

- Absolutely love the design and art direction of Ghorman, it's art deco with some midcentury modern with a little steampunk mixed in and just so well done.

- The arc of eps 8 and 9 was phenomenal. I wasn't quite sure where they'd take 9 as ep 8 felt like it kind of concluded that story, but 9 was incredible. The tension in that escape sequence was fantastic, and Mon's reactions to how Cassian operated (just shooting the agent and her driver without a second thought) was a perfect mirror to show how her understanding of the Rebellion is totally different than those with their boots on the ground.

- Can't say much more on ep 8 that hasn't been said. So well done, and the contrast from what we saw happen on Ghorman and the reporting to the Senate in ep 9 was a super interesting insight into Imperial propaganda that we really hadn't seen before that gives a whole new understanding of this world.

- Loved how the bellhop/now clerk in the hotel subtly acknowledged that he recognized Cassian and then that he had an understanding of who he was, one of my favorite lines in the series so far (even if not an entirely original thought to us): "Rebellions are built on hope."

- Agreed that Benjamin Bratt is an upgrade.

- Really liked the twist that Erskin was working for Luthen.

Overall excited to see things amp up for the last arc, this has been some of the best Star Wars storytelling ever so far.

This is a general observation that has no big impact on my enjoyment of any SW media, but...

In the original trilogy the Rebels on Yavin and later in the fleet before attacking Endor say May the Force be with you a lot. On this show none of them have, and I kind of expected it toward the end of this arc. Does anyone remember it being said in Rogue One?

Well, the Asian guy had an entire chant/mantra around it. Maybe he was the catalyst for that? Dunno.

I probably wouldn't listen to me since I can't keep the timeline straight.

Jyn says it when they're lifting off from Yavin and Admiral Raddus says it when he realizes they aren't going to make it off the planet alive.

I want to know why the K2 droids can get shot ten times with no apparent damage at the Gorman massacre, but Jen Urso can take one down with one shot in Rogue One.

Andor is shooting it with a sniper rifle meant to take out flesh and bone targets at a distance.

Jynn has a GD hand cannon on Jedha.

At one point Wil was shooting with his blaster too, and he had taken out a few stormtroopers. No big deal, just seems a minor inconsistency to me.

Just got done with 9 and just got done reading all yalls comments…not sure if I'll add anything knew but screw it im typing anyway!

That was awesome! Completely and totally awesome!

I think one of the top highlights was Syril and his slow realization since episode 4 regarding him being a pawn of the Empire and finding out Deedra has been playing him….

Him choking her and that whole interaction felt so real…I'd have to think the actress playing Deedra really thought she might get thrown out the window the way that line was delivered….

I had fully expected Syril to turn to the Rebellion….it seemed like they were setting that up so well but his ending was still good…at his core he was a flawed character who was so hell bent on protocol and rules that what started his downfall (trying to capture Andor) ultimately ended his life (trying to kill Andor in a blind rage). It's like poetry, ya know it rhymes….

So now, I'm expecting Deedra to have in aiding the rebellion in the last arch…I don't think she fully joins up but I'm going to guess she discovers Lonnie and starts feeding him information….could be wrong but we'll see….

The K2 droids! Their introduction was nuts! They did a good job showing how heavy those barriers were only to have a K2 droid in one kick send it hurling with bodies along with them….got so many classic Terminator vibes from that scene….

Honestly I probably need to watch episodes 8 and 9 again…too much awesome for my brain to dissect….

"Rebellions are built on hope."

Mon's speech

Senate escape scene

"Could you kindly point that in a different direction."

It's been a rough week…had to put the family dog down earlier today and it's been a back and forth decision since Monday….my families heart needed this awesome distraction….

Now gotta find a solid breakdown of this to watch…

Sorry to hear, that's tough. Hope y'all are doing ok.

Agreed on pretty much all of that, curious to see where this takes Dedra because the reality of what she was involved in seemed to really hit her there at the end.. And check out New Rockstars on YT for breakdowns.

We watched it a second time, maybe last year or the year before, during our Christmas movie watching marathon. While it may not be great, it has some humorous moments and ...

wait for it ...

There is so much ground to cover and so many directions that we can go. Since Gilroy is so assertive about this being it for Andor, does he go one way and tie up a ton of loose ends, or veer the other way and make it intensely character driven around 3-4 main people, like just Mon, Andor, Bix, and Luthen?

Personal Wish List for Me

Saw, Luthen, and Mon Mothma all in the same room together
K2 wrecking shop (still have that shot from the trailer where he flings a guy over a railing)
Kino Loy leading some bad-ass guerilla Rebel cell
Vader's breathing and shadow in Luthen's store in the dead of night
Princess Leia with Bail Organa
