"We should have killed Krennic while we were up there."

Great line.

I really enjoyed most of this three episode arc. Bix was a bit boring (until the end) and ghorman in episode 3 was definitely anticlimactic but overall a return to form.

Also, were they really speaking French? I thought Ghorman was a play on German?

Will be interesting to see if Bix's nightmares are gone now that she's killed Ghorst.

THe behind the scenes video said they hired all French actors and created a language with French vowel sounds so it sounded like they were all speaking it very fluently.

4th episode not terrible…obviously setting up a lot with the main thing being the Gorman massacre….really want to get through these episodes cause I know there's a lot of lore being brought up that I can't remember from rebels (and perhaps clone wars as well)….

Episodes 5 and 6 over the weekend….

Krennic and Mon was excellent. Smug and zero f-cks vs barely contained anger.

I'm trying to decode the stuff with Luthen and Andor regarding Gorman. I guess it's just the contrast between all-in, do whatever it takes and having some semblance of caution and regard for mass casualties. The interesting thing, that neither of them could possibly know, is that the Empire is already planning to destroy that planet no matter what.

I can't think of a single time I've been disappointed in the acting of this show. Maybe the dramatic inhalation of toxic air? lol

I finished through episode 6 last night. Overall the series has been great, a slow developing storyline, but the last three episodes have kicked it up a notch.

My takeaways - Bix was clearly suffering PTSD, but I have to wonder if she breaks it with that sequence lifted right out of Taken, when she turns on the device to full power and leaves the object of her terror to suffer. I knew I recognized that base where Saw and his crew were holding up, so I looked it up, and sure enough, it was the same place we saw at the end of The Force Awakens and the beginning of The Last Jedi, D'Qar. That's a nice nod to the sequels, which I have actually watched a number of times each but consider the worst Star Wars to date, particularly the last two.

While I certainly appreciate the more "adult" themes in Andor, I do note that Disney just can't help itself with regard to politically charged stuff. Implied sex scene with Meera and Syril that was tastefully done, but then let's just show the two gals beginning to engage in their sexual behavior.

Syril and Dedra's relationship is artificial and has no passion.
Cinta and Vel's is 100% the opposite. They also showed Andor and Bix kissing passionately.

Apologies then. I didn't intend to start a **** show, and even considered not including that part of my comment.

I'm also not trying to start anything, either. The sterile relationship is shown with a sterile scene. The relationships based on raw emotions are show accordingly. And I have huge respect for CR Aggie on mutiple boards. He's an old-school Star Wars fan.

I think the Luthen/Andor piece is setting up some future conflict between Andor/Mothma/Vel and Luthen/Bix.

Luthen is thinking entirely of the cause and it makes him treat people and planets as expendable. He doesn't care if everyone on Ghorman is genocided in retribution for this heist if it sparks additional rebellious activity elsewhere. By contrast, Andor does care - he has no qualms about killing Imperials but he doesn't want to waste lives and almost cares too much about people. Consider:

  • the scene where Bix is seeing a dead imperial soldier in her dreams and accuses Andor of killing him just to protect her vs because it would advance the cause.
  • Luthen tells Andor he wants Ghorman to burn brightly while Andor is telling people not to do the heist and stay at the scene of the crime
  • Mon asks Luthen about Vel and Luthen assumes its mission related and Mon says she just cares about her
  • Vel complaining about Luthen not telling her Cinta was hurt

All of these are setting up a transition where Mon takes lead of the rebellion and its the more hopeful rebellion we see in Act 3 of Rogue One (where the whole fleet charges in to rescue a commando squad) vs a Luthen led rebellion that wants to assassinate Galen Erson

One year later between episode 3 and 4 is a little weird. Except for the Ghroman setups the first three episodes were completely inconsequential to these three. Episodes 4-6 were a huge step up in stakes that we care about.

The spycraft they introduced is so good. The rebels turning Syril, but him being a double agent. Diego Luna switching roles back and forth in the cafe between the spy and the cover.

Foreign Ghorman gestures and clapping were a fun touch. Great little detail that adds a lot

Some of the exterior shots of Andors apartment felt very Blade Runner.

The Ghorman plaza is quite a set/location. Very well done.

Luthen showed a softer side when visiting Bix, and said he needed her at her best, then giving them an assignment to kill Doctor Ghorst.

It's funny that Luthen and the Imperial leaders want the same thing - for Ghorman to be used up for one single purpose and then spit out as a charred husk.

Real crusher for Vel to be so anxious about the payroll heist and so scared she would lose Cinta, then have Cinta die in a random accident in a pretty simple job. I'm afraid that will become the rule, not the exception for the rest of Season 2.

Would love to see Episode 7 open with Bix as this hardcore, no mercy Rebel op.

No, but the light was flashing and Andor said he would take her with him, whatever it was.

Luthen previously told her that he needed her at his best when he visited the apartment. I'm assuming that was his way of killing two birds with one stone - she gets better, they freak the hell out of the Imperials by hitting a target that nobody should even know about.

I'm an idiot. I just now realized that flashing light was Luthen communicating with them.

especially as the leak can be traced to the day where Lonni was balling out at the meeting and earning points with Partagatz. And the people who did the briefing can be like "yeah, only the other guy was there, Lonini wasn't."

Homeboy has learned to play the game since he came sniveling to his elevator meeting with Luthen

Although hard to imagine 2 years later he and Luthen are meeting in the same elevator.

I really want to see some kind of meme mashup of

"Are you crying? Are you crying? ARE YOU CRYING? There's no crying! There's no crying in revolution!"

The story has definitely come to light. So far so good. Part I loved the most this season is all of the world building. You get to experience lots of day to day nuisances that you don't get to see i other Star War productions. You finally feel immersed into the world on a whole new level. Only part I thought funny is the use of the dental floss or string to see if someone's opened the door. I guess Ring cameras ultimately fail as a technology.

Was talking about this with my wife earlier and realized that Dedra and Syril and their relationship are the personification of the empire and the naive public. Dedra is all about control for the sake of control at any cost. She uses Syril and other people, and she doesn't care about anyone or anything else. Syril is all about wanting an ideal society with justice and order. He's infatuated with Dedra because he thinks her desire for control is the same his desire for order, but he's too naive to realize he's being used and manipulated.

Also, their relationship dynamic contrasts with Cassian's relationship with Bix. Syril and Dedra grew up in loveless, sanitized environments, and it shows with Dedra using him and basically stringing him along with an hour in the dark. Syril is desperate for approval because he's been nagged his whole life, and Dedra seeks control because she's never had it. Cassian and Bix grew up with loving, caring parents, and it shows in how Cassian supports Bix and will do anything to keep her safe. He knows love and friendship and he cares about Bix and his other friends. I think he's shown some growth in that since season 1.

It continues to amaze me how this show works on so many levels.

I learned last night that Denise Gough, the actor that plays Dedra, was also the voice of Yennefer in The Witcher 3 video game.

Stopped reading at 4/29 since we haven't watched the second batch of 3 episodes yet, but loved the first three. Totally fine with the pace. Mon's dread while all this superficial stuff is going on around her knowing her life is over is really good.

I simply can't look at Mon's husband and not see dbag Harry Ellis from Die Hard. Will catch up this weekend.
