I did wonder about that too.

And in that Rebels clip you see him watching Mon's speech on Yavin. (Not gonna hold this show to whatever happens in that show though.)

My thought was there would be a scene where that action caused Alderaan to be on the Empire / Tarkin's radar and was the reason it gets destroyed in ANH.

Forgot to mention this yesterday, but the scene of Syril's mother crying hit surprisingly hard for me.

Especially considering how much I disliked her and even Syril.

How about a deleted scene where they are interrogating Bail and he's pushing back and they make threats about rooting about Rebel spies on Alderaan and he says, "OH, what are you going to do, blow up the whole planet?

If I were you I'd move this to f116. I'm sure plenty of people watch the show there. It would be great not to turn Andor into American politics.
If this was just a regular post with no identity for where it came from, I would have guess Reddit. Lot of posts like that one on the Andor subreddit last night. When Ghorman from my take away is heavily influenced with the French underground in WW2.

I've been reading a lot of stories of the Dutch resistance during the Nazi occupation and the slow tightening of the noose has been paralleled brilliantly in this show - "little" things Ike requiring registration that initially didn't seem to be more than a inconvenience , then the restrictions on financial transactions and businesses, to the escalation of violence and ultimate genocide. It's chilling.

It was interesting that in this arc we never saw Luthen in character as the Art Dealer. He was Resistance Luthen and he and Kleya were out in public.

I found Erskin coming back to help Cass rescue Mon deeply moving. He is a true believer in both the cause and Mon, and he knew how hurt she was knowing that he worked for Luthen. But he wasn't going to walk away after she sacked him. He risked his life to help her knowing how betrayed she felt by him.

I also love the individual acts of bravery and resistance like the hotel clerk tossing that grenade.

Anyone else have a moment where they kind of cheered for Syril to exact some revenge on Cassian?

Really excited to watch Rogue One next weekend after the show wraps up. (And probably ANH after that.)

Not even a little bit.

Only time I cheered for him was when he was choking Dedra. Was hoping he'd kill her right there.

I weirdly found myself getting very anxious about Syril screwing up Dedra's years long plan and revealing the plan to the resistance leaders. I love Dedra's character - her ruthlessness and her frightening competence make her a complex and fantastic villain.

I mean, in that moment, he probably blames Cassian for everything wrong in his life. He desires order, there is chaos all around him, and this is the guy who caused it (in his mind).

That's gotta be worth landing a few solid punches.

Technically, they're two years apart. How long you want the guy to wait before he can move on?

Did he get hurt off screen escaping Ghorman? I don't ever remember him getting hurt during the massacre.

Must have. I fully expected Dreena's radio broadcast at the end of E8 to end with blaster fire and screams as the Empire finds the hideout and mows them down.

I thought the episode was gonna end with stormtroopers raiding their hideout and wiping everyone out Inglourious Basterds tavern scene style.

Good catch on Luthen appearing out in public sans-wig. I'm really curious as to the reason he won't abandon Coruscant for Yavin. Well all knew Saw was the one who was playing by his own rules, but it's looking like Luthen doesn't want to follow the chain of command either.

My plans exactly. This show has been a slow burn but the last arc was great

I was kind of hoping Cass ran into him on his way to the ship and took him to the rebel base

I feel like Luthen is possibly considering trying to assassinate Emperor Palpatine.
Could be wrong on who, but I feel like thats why he is still there.
We know some crazy scenes are going to happen next week.

Luthen needs to stay where he is, close to the senate & Palpatine. The same as Bail Organa.

We need these Gilroy brothers to work on the next Star Wars movies. This is just great Sci-Fi, on a level of Dune, Blade Runner, etc.

IMO Star Wars would do well to have two "universes":
#1. One more gritty, adult themed like Andor for adults and hardcore Sci-Fi lovers.

#2. Another with Ewoks, cute droids, excessive use of the force by toddlers, bumbling storm troopers, etc for the kids and cosplay loving adults.

These two universes should all align in a common cannon, but rarely overlap. It could be done.

I watched the latest three last night. Holy Cow!!

It almost felt like Mon Mothma finally went from virtue signaling involvement (not saying she didn't care before) to wide awake OMG this is real understanding of what is happening. Like she didn't have a real understanding of the lives that have been on the line and lost all these years she has been involved.

I was heartbroken as the Ghorman resistance leader is helplessly trying to stop the protesters from going to the square.

The look of "I wasted my entire existence on a guy who doesnt even know I have been chasing him" from Syril was profound. I think Dedra realized she actually had feelings for Syril and her mini-breakdown was moving. Still I'm hoping she gets got in the last arc.

Kleya and Erskin are amazing. Their steadfastness saves the day as much as anyone in this story.

Bix...while I understand why she left, her conviction that Cass wouldn't continue if she was there. That was tough to watch.

Question: Do we think Wilmon dies from his injuries? He looked dead as they took him off the ship.

Well I was so locked into my obsession with Andor this morning that I sent a client a photo of the Ghorman massacre instead of a Zoom link.

Cassian made a comment to someone when they offloaded Wilmon on Yavin that he would be fine, but I couldn't really tell if he was just putting on a brave face for whoever he was talking too. Just pop him in the bacta tank and he'll be fine.

That is exactly why I asked...I took it as Cass trying to be hopeful for morale's sake.

was thinking something similar while watching the latest episodes. the attention to detail making this show work so well while paying service to the canon and history of the franchise is something that nobody else has been able to pull off with any consistency. it's amazing what you can do when you focus on the character arcs and their motivations rather than empty fan service and lazy stories. between andor and rogue one, i'm sold that this team needs to do more. meanwhile the kid focused stuff can, like you said, focus on grogu and sassy droids and jar jar, etc. trying to please everyone in one product isn't working, it just leaves everyone disappointed. i honestly think they're gonna need to have two distinct paths going forward… the adult side doesn't have to be rated r, but it should have the more sophisticated subject matter and shouldn't feel like it exists solely for disney to sell toys. meanwhile disney can be the overbearing marketing psychos in the kids stuff. i doubt they ever seriously to this route but giving the gilroys a trilogy should happen if they're willing

I once tried to get Worlde to accept "Bacta" as a guess and got furious when it said it wasn't a real word until I remembered ... it's not a real word.

Disney Plus has the series "A Small Light" about the couple that primarily shielded Anne Frank's family in Belgium during the Nazi occupation that is quite frankly one of the best things I've ever seen and a very compelling parallel to the Ghorman plot line in Andor. It's exactly as you say - Anne's family thinks they're going to be safe and then one day the troops show up, then the registrations and the curfews, and the Resistance starts with hiding people, then having the secret meetings, then trying to get children safe, then people starting to stand up and take the fight to the Nazis with acts of defiance and terrorism.

If you have Disney+, it is an outstanding watch, especially with kids of appropriate ages when you're trying to navigate the idea of standing up and speaking out when you see something that you know isn't right.
