And Dedra's investigation skills are terrible. They only find Axis after she's no longer on the case and she's clueless what they're doing on Ghorman even when she's getting her hand held as to what they're doing.

Just finished up a rewatch of both Season 1/2, RO, and ANH.

Second pass-through of Andor is just as good as the first. We'll probably be chasing this high for the rest of our lives in the Star Wars fandom.

First thing that comes to mind - the continuity between Andor/RO/ANH makes for an incredible & complete story. Gilroy managed to pull off a narrative that fits and flows well and only elevates the story we know in ANH.

Second thing - The re-watch gives you a different perspective on so many characters. I think RO is the obvious one that's been discussed, but Kleya is fascinating to go back and watch again. Elizabeth Dulau did such a phenomenal job.

Third thing - Gilroy has absolutely stuck the landing on "Less is more". No unnecessary cameos. Don't need to tell every backstory. Etc. I'm disappointed it's over, but I think this show could be cheapened if someone came in and told additional backstories to some of the characters later.

I think the only negative (if you could call it that), is that I saw S2E12 on it's own the second time, and it was kinda meh compared to a lot of S2. It did a great job tying so many loose ends up. But S2E11 was the real finale.

In the first episode of the season, Partagatz chides her for making Axis into a big thing but not catching him, and she doesn't even come close. She's on Ghorman for the entire time that the other guy puts all the pieces together to find Luthen; she just tries to steal his thunder at the end.

Exactly. She was at the Wannsee-esque conference where Krennic outlined the whole thing. She just believed it was all in service of the Emperor's "energy project." Her perceived hesitancy in the moment was seeing all the civilians out on the plaza and being faced with the reality of the massacre and subsequent genocide her order would unleash.

I could watch this stuff all day.

I finally watched S1 and S2 in the last month or so and I quite enjoyed it. It lived up to the hype!

For me, unfortunately, I just think Rogue One isn't a very good movie. It's not awful, but there's a lot that just feels rushed or underdeveloped. Some of that is improved by Andor, and some is made even more glaring.

Some examples:
- Saw Gerrera makes a lot more sense this time around, with his brand of extremism and how he's isolated himself from the rest of the rebels… but then he kinda lets himself die for no reason. I get that he's breathing through a mask but he also seems totally fine with speaking, so it feels all the more like "time for a dramatic death" than anything that makes sense.
- Jyn Erso is a fine character but her having all these tearful reunions and then deaths in the span of two hours is a bit jarring after 24 episodes of Andor. Now it feels like she comes in and steals his screen time but at such an accelerated pace.
- Originally I thought that the love of cameos totally undercut Krennic, since he gets pants'd by Tarkin and then again by Vader. Upon watching the show though, I kinda like it. Dedra is schooled by Partagaz, who is schooled by Krennic, who is schooled by Tarkin and Vader, who is later schooled by the Emperor. The empire has a habit on ****ing on those below them to make themselves feel in control, from top to bottom.
- That said, Zombie Tarkin sucked in 2016 and it still sucks now. What a bad decision.
- Unfortunately, for all the development of Mon Mothma and Luthen in the series, the rebel leadership SUCKS in Rogue One. Mon Mothma is just there as a glorified cameo and to hint at Obi Wan. If these are the future leaders of the galaxy, I don't have a lot of faith that things will be much better, even after Andor and Erso and Skywalker and Solo save their asses.
- Lastly, I didn't know his name for 9 years, but Baze really doesn't work for me either. It feels like he has like 5 lines of dialogue and then gets a dramatic death sequence where he kills 4 dudes and then dies.


The beach fighting is pretty legit but then it all has to stop down so these characters we barely know can get noble sacrifice moments. It was rushed in 2016 but feels especially rushed after two seasons of Andor. And unfortunately the finale of Andor is spent almost entirely setting up Rogue One, so you kinda have to watch it after.

It's a shame. If only Tony Gilroy could go in and redo Rogue One in 2025 and make it all a little more seamless, this might make for a great and true prequel trilogy. Instead, there's a massive drop in quality IMO from Andor S1 and S2 to Rogue One, and I can't really go from Andor to Star Wars since it's so reliant on Rogue One to wrap up Andor.

This season was an absolute masterpiece. Top 3 drama series for me (the others being Band of Brothers and The Sopranos).

It's infuriating when you imagine what the Anakin Skywalker origin story could have been when told with this level of maturity, care, and quality.

Don't disagree but you have to consider the context of the times. That Anakin story was being constructed and told 25-30 years ago before the genre and style that Andor was told was even a thing. Movies in theaters that catered to kids and families was still huge.

Basically The Sopranos and Band of Brothers started this new genre which is great!

I would love to see a Bad Batch live action series spring up somehow. The animated version on Disney+ was pretty good, but to relive it with real actors could be sweet!

But Andor was just fantastic on so many accounts!
