Cannot wait for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I determined during Episode 1 that there is far too much going on in these to that I won't be able to take in any more than an episode per night. I expect this to be the best three episode arc of any Star Wars. I'll be ignoring this thread until Thursday. Oh, and with my girls going for what is likely their last Girl Scout camping trip this weekend, I'll have the place to myself. I believe I'll binge the entire series (both 1 and 2) on Saturday.

I'll reiterate that he is doing a great job in the role.

But Andor is going to flow directly into Rogue One, where Bail is played by Jimmy Smits, and that will always bug me. In a world where they even got the no name actor who plays the commander in Yavin to come back.

It's too bad it couldn't be worked out. It's no different than if they'd recast Saw Gerrera with Denzel Washington. A great actor, but it's not Forest Whitaker.

Tony Gilroy talks bout the scrapped K2 origin story

Dan Gilroy wrote an amazing, entirely self-contained episode that was episode 209. It was an amazing episode that was like a horror movie. It was the K2 story.


"They had to bring this huge ugly tanker ship to Yavin, and there was a KX unit that was trapped inside there hunting. It was sort of like a monster movie with K2 on it. It was really cool."

"We could not afford to do it. It was made clear that it was out of the range, so we had to abandon that and consolidate things.

"It's like what we did with Aldhani. Danny got burned twice. Danny wrote the Aldhani episode pre-Covid where there were 2,000 people in Aldhani. It was like Glastonbury, this huge festival. And then by the time we got there [after Covid] they said, 'Well, you'd be happy if you get 150 people there.' We were like, 'Oh my God, we have to change the whole story!' Everything had to change."

"The whole dynamic and the economics of everything changed between season 1 and season 2. Season 1 was, 'Oh my God, Pearl Harbor was just bombed! Build aircraft carriers as fast as possible! We don't care! Size, scale, build it, go Game of Thrones! Money is no object. Make it!'

"By the time we got to season 2, and Bob [Iger] came back, everything had changed and everybody was belt-tightening. It's hard to ask for more money when they're laying people off at Disney, and we were like, 'Wow, man. Well, we built half an aircraft carrier. We'd like to finish it.'
"We made as many concessions as we could, but it was still a huge gamble on their part to keep going and still a huge ask. So thank you, Disney, and thank you Lucasfilm. It was lot of tough conversations and a lot of anxiety, but really, in the end, they really backed our play.
"The bar was really high for what we were going to do. The audience will decide whether it's big enough and satisfying enough, but we tried to make as cool as we could."

Man I wish we were getting the final arc tonight.

I've been watching TLOU, and am enjoying it, but it's been completely overshadowed by Andor in my mind.

Uhhh, yeah, after seeing Denzel's take on a Roman politician-whatever-he-was in Gladiator II.....count me in the camp that's glad the casting director went with Whitaker for Saw.

Whitaker plays unhinged psychopath very well. See "Last King of Scotland".

Denzel in Gladiator II was super disappointing, felt like he mailed that one in. Then again, that entire movie sucked from beginning to end, so I suppose he was playing down to the level of his team.

Forest Whitaker is so much of a better actor than Denzel (and I like Denzel). Last King of Scotland or his role in The Shield match up or exceed anything Denzel has ever done.

The real shame of his character is you get so little of it. He could easily carry a short spin-off following his crew

streaming numbers haven't been good....especially after taking into account that when you look at the millions of minutes watched and realize that every week 3 episodes are dropping instead of one...compared to normally only 1 episode per week......yeah...we're in a bubble here on texags viewership hasn't been good...

what was really good about season 1 of andor though is that viewership continued to climb after it came out where other star wars shows of late didn't do that so hopefully that happens here....

Oh man, I hope this doesn't hurt their chances at a Season 3!

He feels like the rare guy who if he saw Vader coming down the hallway he'd go right at him.

I'd like to see a plot device where K2 or a siimilar droid is sent to kill Palpatine.
