I've got to ask...anyone else feel like the attempted rape of Bix went too far for a star wars show?

It was intense while watching, but in hindsight it feels like a trope. Of course the evil officer is going to attempt to rape the pretty woman who rejected him earlier. He was only missing twirling his mustache to fit the trope.

Maybe an Imperial Officer should have been above that though. Could have found a better way to humiliate her about her illegal visa or something.

It definitely goes against some of the "rules" of the Star Wars Universe that George Lucas created long ago…no gore, sex, etc. It definitely pushes boundaries for the franchise…that, I'm not sure how to reconcile. We've seen far worse in lots of other shows and even within Star Wars…but it is a new boundary crossed that introduces a violent, disturbing element that had not be a part of Star Wars previously.

You consider Star Wars anti-gore? Maybe anti blood. But I remember Luke opening up guts from the snow camel things in ESB for example.

the whole point is these people are the worst of the worst, who think they can just do whatever they want.
And they have found that they often can do anything they want.

Exactly. He was using his position of power and leverage from the first interaction. He immediately tried to figure out if she was alone and unprotected. He's an armed imperial goon going door to door looking for illegals and abusing his power - it's perfectly in character. It was intense but it was real and earned.

Or Obi Wan cutting off the dudes arm in the cantina in Star Wars.

Han did the cutting then shoved Luke in there

Haha…ok…yeah, I guess dismemberment goes hand and with gore.

Was intending that SW does not have lots of graphic bloodiness.

Finally caught up. Little slow. Bummed Brasso bought it, but went out a hero. Making sure to "clear" the farmer of any harboring charges. He was my favorite new character.

Wonder if they'll leave Bee there or Cass goes back and picks him up.

Someone else mentioned people falling away from the Rebellion and I wonder if it will be Vel. I wonder if she joined up to be with Cinta and since that relationship is continously one-sided, she decides to sellout Kleya and Luthen so they can't keep sending Cinta away.

Thought the whole home-making scene with the imps was unnecessary, but that might be because I can't stand the overbearing mom.

I want Dedra to hire some homeless person wearing black to just stand across the street from the Mom's apartment 24/7, making her think ISB is watching her.

I liked the first three episodes of season 2. I didn't think about the TIE Advance prototype technology being used to make X-Wings. I kinda hope there is a reference to Z-95 Headhunters being upgraded to X-Wings with TIE Advance technology in the next episode. Even if it wasn't that way in the EU.

Mon Mothma and Luthen's stories continue to be the stars of the show. The slow burn of Mon Mothma coming unraveled at the wedding and Luthen waiting for her to accept that Tay needed to be eliminated and not bribed was pretty great.

Also, Andor does kinda feel like its own pocket universe of Star Wars.

It's going to be nuts the first time Andor and Mon Mothma have a scene together.

hot take: they hook up, Andor is terrible in bed, and Mon Mothma sends him on the suicide mission to save Jyn Erso and find her father as punishment.

Bold hot take predictions - (I have done no spoiler researching or anything)

- Dedra is Cassians sister (I think the backstory in this episode still supports that theory). And Cassian is going to kill her

- Saw Gerraras troops are the rebels who provoke the Ghorman massacre

- the massacre is being provoked by both sides. Luthen and Dedra both encouraging it

- Mons husband ends up dying heroically to save Mon as she realizes too late that he hates the Empire too

- Bix is either killed by Cassian to cover something up or she goes out as a suicide bomber

- similar to the prediction about Vel above I think she finds out Sinta killed all the civilians at Aldhani as they were leaving including the kids. This breaks them up permanently.

Any other hit takes?

We see Cassian's sister as a kid in the flashbacks and she doesn't look remotely like Dedra. She is brunette and a Hispanic looking actress.

Zero chance Andor would have the reviews it does if Dedra is his sister. It'd be one of the laziest writing maneuvers ever

I can see Mon's husband being a Rebel spy pretending to be an idiot.

I can see Cassian having to choose between Mon and Bix and sacrificing Bix for the Rebellion.

Not trying to be harsh, but Cassian's sister was just a plot device to get him in trouble in the first episode. Gilroy isn't bringing her back from the dead.

Got the first episode done….family should be able to watch 2 and 3 tomorrow.

Thoughts on the first episode….overall pretty good….the heist with the special tie fighter was pretty awesome even though we knew it was coming in the trailers…..the gorum meeting was interesting and the chess pieces moving around the wedding was also good….

Obviously it's setting up for some major things to come in episodes 2 and 3….

My only gripe is the stupid "rebels" who captured Andor….they were more like The Little Rascals combined with Lord of the Flies. …

good grief they were annoying and when they finally turned on each other and started shooting I thought, "good! Every bolt leaves a chance to have one less mouth for me to listen to."

…..but maybe that was their intent….

Also curious to find out who exactly they are because clearly Andor knew who they were….sounds like they were just the leftovers of a battle gone bad for these specific rebels…..you'd think they'd have a safety word or something so they could identify each other….

Looking forward to 2 and 3 tomorrow….hopefully there's more dead dumb forest rebels by the time this is over…..

They are members of the Maya Pei Brigade. Maya Pei is one of the rebel faction leaders like Saw Gerrara.

I don't think she's mentioned in Rebels at all. Was mentioned in passing by Saw in season 1 as a neo-Republican rebel leader

I was on the side of Mon's husband and/or daughter outing her to ISB which forces her hand to denounce the Empire over the massacre and commit fully to the Rebellion. It is what forces Leia to take the more active role as the rebel insider in the Senate.

The wedding representing the end of Mon's life in the upper crust life she enjoyed. She begged her daughter and Luthen to allow her to keep it and both told her no in their own way. Her Husband told her no already in season 1.

I like the Rebels being shown as the dregs of society, the people with no other place to go. And Mon eventually giving the movement creditability and resulting in better recruits.

Mon's daughter ratting her out will be like on V when Donovan's son got brainwashed by Diana.

Bet you didn't think you'd be getting a V reference in the Andor thread today, did you?

I really wonder how they're going to play the Ghorman Massacre and Mon Mothma's subsequent actions. Rebels is cannon, and she calls Paply out as a "lying executioner" and then has to flee Coruscant. She is aided by Hera Syndulla (the dullest part of the Ahoska series), and taken to safety by the Ghost (ship) and the nascent Gold Squadron.

They take her to Dantooine and she gives the "Declaration of Rebellion" speech on board the Ghost with Hera and Ezra Bridger right next to her, and when it's over, she sends out her coordinates and all these ships start appearing to join up. Bail Organa is also prominent.

If they go with the Legends version of events of the Ghorman Massacre, we're going to get a cameo by Tarkin in here as well.

It doesn't seem much in Gilroy's wheelhouse to be including Hera and Ezra in his show, although he did have Ponda Baba and Dr. Evzan in Rogue One, along with R2, 3PO, Bail, and General Dodonna. Will Barristan Selmy return as General Dodonna? Homeboy is 77 years old, so not sure.

You are correct. I did not have V on my Andor S2 Bingo Card. I don't think the daughter will be brainwashed, just think the daughter will think it is "right thing to do". Tap into the Nazi's encouraging kids to turn in their parents.

Finished episodes 2 and 3 earlier this evening.

Really pleased with the show so far. I can understand why some people might not like the slow pace but I'm all for it. I love the world building and character development.

I was pretty shocked at the end of E2 to find out they were on Yavin 4 the entire time. Curious whenever we go back there if any of the little rebel rascals are still alive and recognize him.

The tension with E3 at the wedding was perfect. Mon pretty much saying screw it all at the end was a great ending…..she basically at that point had lost her husband, daughter, and best friend all for the rebellion.

I immediately thought of the dinner scene from the office with Dedra and Syril…there were several moments that got some decent laughs out of me for that scene and I was pleasantly surprised.

I really hope Bix now goes all out for the rebellion….she should be one pissed ***** at this point….

Looking forward to the next 3!

Really enjoyed these first three episodes. I think the only thing I didn't like was when Bix was talking to Wil and the farm girl was walking up to give them water. That shot just looked terrible because the background was out of focus and looked exactly like it was shot in front of a screen.

Scene with Dedra and Cyril's mom was fantastic. She doesn't **** around. Pretty sure she's going to have Cyril work as an agent to foment rebellion on Ghorman.

Everything around the wedding was great. Knew Tay was going to buy the farm the second he complained. Mon's daughter is still the same *****y child. Will be interesting to see what happens to her. I think she gets a wakeup call at some point.

Cassian trying to pilot the TIE fighter at first was hilarious.

Wondering who Cyril's Dad is now. Would be interesting if it was Luthen. Obviously he's an adventurer who deals in expensive antiques, so expensive hobby. He'd have left his family behind and cut contact to keep them safe.
