Offense got shutout at home in the second half, but it's so hard to fault them for anything honestly. The defense is so ****ing bad that the pressure to score a TD every single possession had to get to them eventually.

Just a hunch, but I think Stephen will hire a GM or at the very least elevate Will McClay to the position once Jerry makes his descent. I don't think Stephen likes the spotlight. He seems uncomfortable in interviews and probably why he makes those stupid verbal gaffes.

He has played an MVP style season and has won us way more games by himself than he has lost.

If that were a Dallas Cowboy you would NEVER hear the end of it and it would be a 1 year ban for sure. 2 games for reaching up and getting physical with a fan, what a flipping joke compared to the hammer they've dropped on Cowboys players in recent years.
Hell, at one point I believe it was discussed handing out suspensions for jumping in the Salvation Army Kettle (they ultimately just settled on fines).

But seriously, I'm torn. I want the Cowboys to win because I think building a winning culture is important and I like beating the Skins and Giants, but also know that a higher draft pick means better choice of high end defensive talent.
I will definitely be rooting for the Packers to lose out and hopefully not make the playoffs so that pick is top 20.

Tough to tank games in the NFL. Players are playing for roster spots for next year. If they don't play at 100%, they'll get steamrolled.
If teams bench starters, ticket holders will complain that they can't watch their favorite players.
Yeah, the smart move is to tank the last two games for better draft position, especially against conference opponents who will benefit if they lose.

Oh yeah - I am definitely not advocating for tanking. I think Schotty actually wants to build a winning culture too, which matters.
As much as I would love a top 10 pick, in looking at the draft order I would guess the difference between a 6-10-1 record vs 8-8-1 is probably pick 12-13 vs pick 16/17.
Not a drastic difference and as alluded to above avoiding a "non-losing" season could have some culture value as well.

5 Pro Bowlers yet eliminated from the playoffs with 3 games left. Basically staff and roster assembly malpractice. With the right system and simply adding a couple of JAGs on defense so that trash like Murray doesn't play, this should be a playoff team
I don't post here often but it's amazing to me that anyone still thinks this team will ever win as long as Jones owns the team. I saw Jim Brown play the first cowboys game I attended. I was in my 30's the last NFC championship game appearance. I'll be 70 pretty soon. Give it up guys.

It may not be a massive sample size, but in the past 20 years the Cowboys have had 3 teams that were in the top 4 Super Bowl favorites heading into the playoffs. Stacked rosters with tons of talent and the stats and wins to back it up.
I'm not a Jerry apologist, I curse his decisions regularly... but I'm also not going to sit back and pretend he hasn't put together a few kick ass teams either. The Parson's trade this year was a big move for him... we knew it wasn't going to do anything for us this year, but we now have another 2-3 years to possibly make a run.

Sure, he's put together some top level talent - then manages the team into the ground.
Will McClay has done a strong job in the draft, but their roster management after that has been awful.
I fail to see the purpose of posters coming on here to declare this is all hopeless. Yeah we get it, Jerry sucks. But there have been crappy owners luck into great seasons.
