Stroud's completion % and QBR this season are better than his rookie one. It seems like he's regressed so much because he only threw 5 picks his rookie year and everyone treated that as his standard rather than a ridiculous outlier fueled by luck.

Peyton Manning only threw less than double digit interceptions in a season once (9).

He's solidly outside the top 10 QBs in the league. At this point the debate is whether he's top half of the league.

Their cope will be that the weather was bad and Collins wasn't playing. They'll ignore his abysmal game in Pittsburgh and that he has been deadly average for 2 full seasons.

They'll probably dedicate their entire offseason to upgrading their offense around him to see if he can make it work. He may only have one season left before they cut bait. Having that defense with that QB play has to be excruciating.

I would then do everything possible to make the oline better to protect him. His career stats are solid and the defense can win it all. Honestly what would be the alternative?

Atlanta is hiring Kevin Stefanski as HC and he's keeping Jeff Ulbrich as DC. Some speculation that was the top choice for DC.

Packers may be losing their DC Jeff Hafley to be HC of the Dolphins. If that happens, many think they would target Jim Leonhard hard.

A name to keep an eye on is Eagles passing game coordinator/defensive backs coach Christian Parker. Looking at some of their boards, their fans would lose their **** if they lost him to Dallas. So that's a plus. Interesting Aggie-related nugget--he was under Elko as a defensive analyst at Notre Dame and followed him here when Elko became Jimbo's DC. Was here a year an then moved on to the NFL.

Bills fired Sean McDermott. NFL is turning into college with these big time firings. I wish Jerry had the balls to end the schotty experiment, and go after Tomlin, harbaugh, or McDermott, but no way it'll happen bc schotty is just his little puppet.

McDermott was the coach in upstate NY for nine years and never went to a SB with the best QB in football, AND his defenses were the reason that it didn't' happen year after year. He is a good coach, but it was time for a change there imo. And in all honesty, I think the changes that the Bills, Ravens and Steelers all made were the right ones. It was time for a different voice in every one of those places, and I say this as someone who believes stability is perhaps the most key ingredient in running a sports team or organization.

Definitely a name that I'm hearing as well. I said earlier that I do not want another re-tread DC. Give me a young up and comer and let's roll.

On a somewhat related note, it's amazing to see Flus win 5 games in '24 with the Bears and then see Ben Johnson get "this" close to an NFC Championship game the next year.

I agree with all of that. Sometimes it's just time to move on and change up the voice in the locker room. What I'm mainly getting at is that there's a big opportunity to upgrade HC for the cowboys, but nothing will happen. McDermott not even getting to a SB with Allen is definitely fireable. I think harbaugh and Tomlin were just there too long. Jackson is a dynamic, fun QB but supremely overrated. The only reason he doesn't get ripped on as much as Dak is bc of who he plays for.

I think it's different in pro sports versus college as well. In college guys like Saban, Wittingham, Gundy (until the last few years), Kirby, Sweeney (until the last few years), Stoops etc. work at one place for so long because you have a natural turnover in players. You cut the top off every year and replace it with a new group at the bottom, so your message and the way you do things is never fully heard of deaf ears.

In pro sports there are plenty of guys on a team that might be there longer than the coach or GM themselves, and they do not automatically have the easy/chunky roster turnover every year, so I think things can really get stale.

Back in Aug/Sep I was watching Hard Knocks with the Bills and thought that I just didn't get the vibe from McDermott that he was the guy to get them over the hump. Seemed like a great guy in every way.

But I think he'd reached his ceiling with that team. It''ll be interesting to see who they go after. I think Saleh would be good there, maybe with Daboll running the offense.
