The incessant pro/con Dak arguments are mind-numbing…

Both sides think they're ****ing experts on the subject, and both sides sound like ****ing idiots rehashing the same argument weekly…

Everyone with a Dak take needs to just STFU for awhile…

I don't comment often on it, but this out of left field **** by infection deserves being called out.

Convienent to throw it out now. When he has no chance of being disproven when the cowboys haven't played a meaningful game in 6 weeks? And won't for another year.

Most non cowboy fans were blown away and thought it was terrible we traded him away.

A couple posts above criticizes what would be Quinnen Williams and Maxx Crosby for what we got for Parso'ns if we were to pull it off.



One, Bailey doesn't weigh 250. It's widely believed he'll weigh in around 230-235 at the combine.

Two, Micah Parsons is a A+++ athlete. His straight line and lateral speed/quickness is on par with many safeties and has been able to maintain that even when getting up around 250 pounds. He's a 1/1 player at that position ever in terms of athletic profile. And despite all that, what was his biggest criticism? Breaking down at the end of seasons playing rush end full time and checking out on run defense in December/January.

Bailey is nowhere near the athlete Parsons is, will not be able to add 20 pounds and keep the same agility/speed and he has no secondary position that gives him additional value like Parsons. It's just not comparable. Parsons is an all time exception to the general rules.

Just thought you were describing Parsons with this:

He's a pass rush specialist who doesn't have the traits that typically allow guys to thrive in that role in the NFL (long arms and the ability to convert speed to power). And because he's too small and too finesse to ever realistically be a good enough run defender to be an every down edge, you're basically drafting a situational pass rusher with a skill set that doesn't typically lend itself to being an elite NFL pass rusher.

Aaron Donald had 32" arms too..
Von Miller 33" arms

I won't say he's like either Donald or Parsons, but I've watched him dominate games and experience has taught me that playmakers make plays and their size often doesn't matter if their mental game is right. Animals are animals. If the cowboys gather thru interviews and evals that he's an animal, then I'd love to have him.

But there's a lot o of needs , so no pressure taking any 1 thing

He won't be, if nothing else it's just too convenient. Everyone recognizes the offense was really good and so Shotty changing DCs makes retaining him a pretty easy sell, especially along with all the cap space theyll have and two first round picks.

It's the easiest scapegoat decision imaginable.

A little surprised to see Raheem Morris fired, that's a short lease given he went right around .500 his first two years and was tossed into a very unstable QB situation.

He would certainly be an interesting DC prospect

I hope not. Shanahan seemed done with him and if I remember correctly that was the worst SF defenses looked in Shanahans era was under him.

I'd like someone with potential instead of a reread. Who's the next Mike MacDonald?

I'd like to entertain Jim Leonhard.

The defense was gonna be terrible no matter what due to personnel, but sometimes something is so bad the reason almost doesn't matter with respect to the decision to retain. I just don't think the organization can afford to NOT fire him.

Yes, we knew our D would struggle, but what Flus put on the field was an abomination. The regression of more than one player is a clear sign that Flus was the problem. Just look at Dono as an example... the guy was better as a rookie... he was awful this year.

On the flip side, you can look at guys like Dak, CD, Pickens, Javonte having amazing seasons and figure out that Schotty did his job pretty well. Granted, we have more talent on offense, but he helped elevate their game. We desperately need that on D next year.

McShay released his first mock draft this morning. I just signed up last night after posting to see where he shook out. McShay says… Animal. But he may not last to us.

7. Washington Commanders: Edge David Bailey, Texas Tech
Bailey has an explosive first step, excellent bend, great instincts, and a closing burst that's awesome to watch. His 14.5 sacks tied for first in the FBS this season, and his 21.9 percent pass-rush win rate ranked tied for seventh (minimum 100 pass-rush snaps) among Power Four edge rushers.
He's a bit undersized, which would normally scare me, but this cat is unique. Some guys just know how to get homehe majors in it.

That would be awesome, but I still don't believe Downs makes it to 12. I know safety isn't a premium position but he's arguably the best player in the draft.

Mendoza might/probably will be the only QB taken in the top 10 as well, so I tend to agree that he doesn't make it to 12.

Dante Moore is a bust waiting to happen. Multiple red flags in terms of what he does well/doesnt doesn't do well. Hes a less athletic Caleb Williams in that he bails too quickly and relies on his natural ability to make throws outside the pocket when he doesn't need to.

Mendoza is far and away the better pro prospect IMO. You can't teach his decision making capacity.

he has not impressed me and I've watched most of their games. per the usual, he's surrounded by some absolute dudes on that offense...in a qb friendly system.

He's 100% a product of the system (and players around him) but just so happens to be physically gifted right now, instead of someone like Mendoza who has taken the system and made it 100x better than the previous version because of his own skills.

Yeah, I'm taking Mendoza all day and twice on Sunday. Makes good decisions. Accurate. Plenty of arm. That is all you need. Wouldn't even think about going Moore over him - he's a textbook case of scouts falling in love with athleticism that doesn't make a difference if you are inconsistent on the basics.

Mendoza is high floor, high ceiling. Moore is low floor, high ceiling. And I'm not sure the ceiling is even that high. Give me the former every time.

Would love Jim Schwartz - I think his scheme would fit some of the personnel we already have and could obviously upgrade at a lot of positions.

Flores would be a great hire - I just wonder if our personnel is too mismatched from his scheme? He requires cerebral players who can learn lots of complexity and deploy it over the course of a game...unlike anything we've had before.
