Lots of lost power for days that caused the issues. This will be temps from 10 to low 20's for 2 days with the sun shining on Monday. Having lived in DFW for a long time, cold temps / ice hit at some point most Februarys that affects road travel for a couple days. Maybe it hit in late January instead of February right now, so a little earlier. But haven't we dealt with this before most winters in Feb. over the last 20+ years?

Probably pretty good. Operation should be returning to normal by that point at DFW

All the observable weather is coming in waaaay ahead. From temps to types of precip and where. Will be interesting to see where things stand in the morning. Gonna be at least a sleet fest tomorrow.

I don't see any forecast precipitation after Sunday. DFW should be fine on Tuesday and the roads too.

Wasn't sure my propane company would make it out today since they said they were so busy but I'm glad I did. Full tank should be able to run our generator close to a week if necessary

Right now we aren't supposed to get above freezing until noon Tuesday. We get the precip forested your odds are zero unless your whole commute is covered by NTTA.

If we get sun most of the day Monday - which it looks like we'll get a lot, there will be a ton of radiant melt even if it doesn't get above freezing. That and a bit of wind to dry (supposed to be 5-10), it will make a big impact. Mix in people that will be out on those roads Sunday-Monday regardless grinding grooves in the ice to dry pavement. And precip stopping early Sunday will give the airport a lot of time to get its act together by early Tuesday.

That said, if the flights are shaping up to be ok Tuesday, which I think they will, and you live a good distance from the airport, you might consider a hotel room at/near the airport Monday night and making the trek before sundown Monday before overnight refreeze

Got both misers working after dinner. I guess I was able to flush it out because it's dripping nicely.

So far we've had a constant mist I guess if you can even call it that. Fox 4 forecast is showing more upcoming precipitation than the other apps. This is starting to feel like it won't be that bad, but I don't want to jynx it.

I'm watching the radars from here to the Mexico border fill in where models had things dry for much of the overnight. Feels like this is going to over perform on the precip.

It's snowing (not sticking) in Denton. They weren't supposed to see the white stuff til early Sunday.

lol. Latest model runs have northern burbs getting a foot of sleet between now and Sunday. DFW proper half that. Three inches south side.

This is wild. My guess is we are getting more snow then forecast.

Yes. My theory is the models have a good grasp on precip amount but not type.

Not saying it's all snow but as an example if we got 12" of snow that would work out to about 1.2 inches on the ground. Something like that but somewhere in between

Juuuust hit 32 degrees here in S. McKinney. Light sprinkles currently with negligible wind. Just wet and cold, nothing else going on yet. I expect freezing rain more than sleet throughout the day. Ice accretion is going to be gnarly and I am just holing up for the weekend and refusing to go near a road. Well wishes to our LEO/EMS/utility workers. Linemen are going to be super busy.

ETA: JK bout the freezing rain. Wind is going to be higher than I thought. Also depends on where in the metro you are as it looks like the main line between where the two will probably meet is bisecting the area for most of Sat.

I drove from Richardson to South Oak Cliff this morning with no problems. Roads were wet but that was it…for now.

Thin layer of very small sleet on the ground. Everything is iced over in my hood. Not sure about roads but sidewalks, trees, vehicles, etc all are coated in solid ice albeit a thin layer. For now. Still very light sleet in my area as of now. The kind you feel more than see.

Looks about the same here in Rockwall. Can hear sleet hitting the windows now.

Currently in N. Central Dallas and had to drive an employee to South Dallas early this morning (terrified of driving in this). Was just sleet to start with but on the drive was about 15 min of consistent light snow and then back to sleet. Roads starting to hold sleet.

Snow would be so much better.
