Take the initial report with a grain of salt. I don't know if anyone was officially arrested anymore, but it sounds like they're considering charges.

There was just a post on our neighborhood facebook page about a mom having to yell at some girls to get off the ice on one of the ponds. Kids...smh.

Nightmare fuel right here. Youngest boy fell in. Two months older brothers jumped in to save them and they went under. The mom ran and jumped in and would have drown if a bystander didn't save her.

My back driveway is steep and packed with ice....i have nothing to use and cannot get out to get anything...i may be stuck for a few more days....

yeah, that's a problem.

Supplies are probably low, but I wonder if a delivery service or from the store would make sense. Some people are able to get out.

Yeah, I would recommend to avoid the ice melt jugs and stick with bags. Definitely more economical as the 20lb bags are the same price or less than the 12 pound jugs. I bought 60 pounds (3 bags) for $33 total. The bags also do a better job of keeping moisture out so it doesn't clump.

My grassy areas are starting to show, but driveway & street look exactly the same as they did late yesterday afternoon.

Just got back from a grocery run around Southlake and I would be surprised if much reopens tomorrow morning unless the sun comes out this afternoon, did not seem like there is much melting on the roads.

And man, so sad for what happened in Colleyville this weekend; the old man drowning in the pond and then the couple that died in a housefire and leave several kids behind. Add to that the kids that drowned in Bonham and the girl that died sledding in Frisco.

Everything is basically ice today in terms of driveways, sidewalks, and side streets. Main roads look a little better but there is only 6 or so more hours above freezing so not sure much will actually melt off when there is 2-3 inches of ice. Is it safe to get out in east Dallas area?

hot water works wonders ya'll... you have probably a 50-100 gallon tank of scalding hot water either in your attic or garage.

If accessible with a long hose you can use that attached to the drain nozzle. BUT shut it off (breaker if electric) or turn off the pilot light (if it's gas) if you are going to do that. Turn it back on when done. You don't want it heating an empty tank.

Side roads and neigborhoods are going to be an issue for a couple of more days. Our neigborhood roads (Rockwall area) are still like an ice rink, very little melting (and it is 40' currently). We have 4x4s so I could probably get out if needed but no way 2 wheel drive will do it safely.

Will be interesting to see what schools do here over the next couple days.
