Main roads continue to be fine, have seen a few side streets that could cause issue for cheap tires.

May get more snow and sleet overnight. But temp ranges and duration of cold seems like very typical Februarys we have had for decades. I think it's just been sensationalized and people are thinking back that every freeze is going to be like 2021.

Not really. I think the fact that most people will be shutdown at home for 3 days is a pretty good storm. The last one longer than that was icemaggedon. The majority will probably miss Tuesday as well.

Temps and precipitation did not pan out as forecasted today here in Sulphur Springs. It stayed around 30 degrees until late afternoon and the roads are still fine.

Doesn't mean it won't be treacherous tomorrow with all night to freeze with little traffic out and about. Tomorrow will be a homebound day and most of Monday.

The second wave has started here in Parker Co.

And radar indicates the Big Country is getting hammered.

True. I guess I meant more like no widespread power outage issues from freezing rain and stuff of that nature. Feels more like a typical ice storm for Dallas.

If today had been a work day I for sure would've gone into the office. Roads by me weren't too bad. Maybe tomorrow is worse?

None of the forecasts or news coverage that I watched predicted widespread power outages. In fact, they all said the opposite.

I was telling some co-workers that the power outage would probably happen right when the first Championship game starts. Hopefully that won't happen. Btw it's only January and we usually don't get this stuff until February so it may be worse next time.

Heavy sleet in McKinney.

It wasn't about the grid, it was about ice accumulating on trees falling on powerlines which still might be a problem tomorrow and Monday.

Everything I watched they were calling for ice accumulation to snap limbs/power lines. May still happen, but so far it seems to be overhyped, thankfully.

Yes this is what I was referring to. Ryan hall y'all was pretty big on this. 1/2 inch of freezing rain accumulation would bring down power lines and look like a hurricane has gone through.

Maybe it hit other parts of the country and missed us or maybe prediction was just off as they can be.

I'm in the Lakewood area and I can hear sleet hitting my windows now.

Used to live next to a green belt and it would sound like a gun battle when we got hit by a freezing rain from all the snapping wood.

Heavier precipitation in store for tonight so we shall see. Thankfully it does appear that sleet is the dominant type by far.

all sleet here in Coppell with pretty significant accumulation; DFW airport has got to be a mess right now

Yeah, this packed sleet is likely to make for a gnarly Sunday and Monday, including some fun cobblestone. I think Monday's sun will clear a lot of it, but early Tuesday will still be wicked. Probably the worst kind of wicked because dry sections will lead to false confidence, then bam, slippery AF twice refrozen ice

The main precip is just starting. The backside of the moisture steam is 500 miles away in Mexico. Let's get to tomorrow shall we?

Is it late? We were supposed to be done with the moisture in 12 hours. Noon tomorrow at the latest.

Hours.

I've noticed accumulation has increased greatly in the last few hours here in The Colony. We've had stuff on the ground all day but as soon as it got dark the heavy sleet really started and hasn't really let up at all. I don't think I'm going anywhere tomorrow.

This freezing rain/sleet is starting to suck. The accumulation around some of my roof vents is allowing sleet inside. Also, in a spot I can't really get to. It's not terrible, but looks like it's going to be a long night.

Was laughing as I just took my dog out and tried to get her to pee and could find any grass as it's all covered now. Ended up having to throw a big coat on and walk her down the street. Thought I probably spoke too soon.

I'm about ten minutes north of downtown and have had consistent sleet for probably 2 hours ish. Looks a lot more white outside now.

Got about an inch of combined ice/sleet on the ground in my area now. Every walkway is pure ice and treacherous to walk on right now. Still not super heavy sleet but it's constant and has been for a long while now.

Driving from N Ft Worth to SW Ft Worth. 35 MPH, sleeting the whole way. Feels like a solid sheet of ice. Everything is covered.

Just had to go rescue some family members who lost power and heat from Rockwall to Rowlett back to warmth in Rockwall. Holy moley I've never seen it socked in like this in... decades at least. Maybe the late 80s? That drive to Love Field tomorrow is gonna be WILD.

Several inches of mixed sleet and snow in Arlington. It's pretty, at least.

My street is completely iced over and covered in hard sleet. Still moderate sleet coming down but it's super thin so once it hits ground it just merges with rest and forms more pseudo ice essentially. Especially when walked on and compressed. Tested a sidewalk bout half hour ago fully prepared for slipperiness and still nearly ate it. Definitely of the opinion nothing really should be moving right now unless it's an emergency. Just me though. ETA: (At least in my immediate area of course)

At what point do y'all worry about the pool freezing? I've had my freeze protection running like a charm, but we're still looking at 48+ hours of below freezing temps. My water temp is 47F but just curious if/when ice becomes a concern.

This is my first major winter storm with our pool. Thanks
