I've also see some claims that Edu has referenced 4 more signings. Given the expected players moving out my guess is we see 1 CB and 3 MF with the possibility of Dani being one of the 3.

It'll be interesting to see how we manage the squad going forward. Lacazette isn't going to be content to spend most of his time on the bench and Willian fills a position that we have two very highly rated young players in with Saka & Martinelli. Nelson will also be impacted because Willian can play both sides. Apparently Arteta asked specifically for Willian so I'll trust he has plans for him.

I feel like Ceballos played himself into being expensive if we really want him and Madrid are gonna play tough with him. Gabriel is the main CB target with other teams like Napoli and now United coming into the mix.

We've also sent several youngsters out on loan already. Zech Medley and Trae Coyle both went to Gillingham FC. Zak Swanson is headed to Dutch side MVV Maastricht. Mavropanos is at Stuttgart.

Not too worried about Saka/Martinelli...

1. Willian is 32 and can play either wing or CAM. Saka can play either wing plus LWB and LB in emergencies. There is also a growing thought that he could play the pressing CM/AM spot in a Pep 4-3-3 that everyone expects Arteta to shift towards. Martinelli can play either wing or ST and may think ST may be his best role in the future.
2. This season atleast we will have a compressed schedule along with EL and domestic cups. There should be plenty of opportunity to rotate and get everyone playing time.
3. Martinelli is likely out until Dec/Jan

I like Dani but at this point, I would call Real's bluff. They don't really want him they are just looking for someone to pay their inflated asking price. The only real threat that I've seen is City. And honestly, I'm not sure they really need or want him. He doesn't really fit Pep's 4-3-3. So unless Pep is gonna change his formation for Dani I don't see the point. Betis has already said they cannot afford him. I think we can afford to wait it out and see how things play out. Right now we could go snag other options (we've been linked to Morgan Sanson) with similar skill sets that will be available cheaper.

Seeing some speculation that this may be a headhunting expedition on Raul and how he has conducted transfers thus far. Efforts seem to be lead by Edu. Wonder if Edu is genuinely trying to fix some issues or if he is gunning for Raul's job.

Seeing reports that Edu approached Lyon for a Duezy + cash for Aouar deal. Lyon rejected because A) they don't feel they need another MF and B) they would prefer a cash deal. If this claim is true, I am really excited we are trying to get Aouar. Hope we can pull it off.

Had a feeling Raul was out when we hear about Edu investigating anything. If we are hearing about it that means the investigation was done and he found something.

Depends. how many CB do we sell? What does the MF look like when the window closes?

Regardless of the answers above, I will be curious to see how quickly Gabriel & Saliba push their way into the lineup. As of right now we will have Luiz, Holding, Saliba, Gabriel & Sokratis that we know are healthy. Then there are Mari, Mustafi & Chambers.

Sokratis is rumored to be targeted by Roam & Napoli. I'd be surprised if he isn't gone soon.

Luiz is rumored to be targeted by Rennes though I doubt anything comes of it.

Holding is rumored to be a target of Leeds. There have been a number of rumors of him being available so this could be plausible but it is a bit risky given the number of guys we have out.

Chambers is rumored to be a target of Fulham. He is supposed to be back training with the team but given the injury I would be surprised if he is in decent form before Xmas. May not be a horrible idea to sell or loan him to Fulham if they are serious.

Assuming no other additions, my guess is we start the season in a 4 man back line with Gabriel & Luiz/Holding as the starters. That is assuming of course that we can get the MF sorted out by then.

Apparently the Gabriel transfer is gonna drag on longer since manu entered the conversation.

I'm not sure how much of that is true vs media crap being thrown against the wall.

Saw 2 reports this morning that claim his medical is complete and the only thing left is a formal ceremony. Then yesterday I saw a report that claims he will have to have a 14 day quarantine to enter the UK.

The theory is that the "delay" is actually a quarantine and not other teams entering the fray.

Are we excited about this?
