Pretty sure Haaland was offside there but they are pressing 6 up so high if they did this against any team with decent patience and that could clear out of the back it would be a suicidal high press.

Why on earth he was trying to pick out a pass from that position is beyond me. You're the last man and you're in the attacking half yet here you are trying to thread a pinpoint pass through three City defenders while falling down and sliding.

Also worth saying (or maybe not because I say it A LOT)

The gamble to double invest in the attacking midfielders and move Bruno to central mid has not paid off thus far. A Bruno and (insert name here) midfield is going to plastered anytime they play someone half decent. The maddening thing is that anyone could have foreseen this and yet...here we are.

It shouldn't be lost on anyone who has even a modicum of interest in United that the only time United have looked like a slightly above average team was when they actually had a somewhat functioning midfield of Casmiro (when he first arrived) and Eriksen (before he stopped being able to run at anything more than a trot).

And yet...here we are.

The worst thing that could have happened did when we beat Burnley on that last minute goal. It gave Amorim a reprieve.

He may be a nice, honest guy but he may be worse than EtH as a manager. He's stupidly inflexible and seems to be incapable of getting these players to play in a system he seemingly cannot get away from. He's had a year to get them to play it and they are as bad at it now as they were when he first showed up.

Sentiment got the better of Amorim and the club. After a season of a litany of personality issues and questions about many players desire to play for the club, he was the only one that no one had those questions about. Turning down an offer of 60m (or whatever it was) for a 30 yr old midfielder is rarely a good decision from a sporting perspective.

And then they compounded the problem by moving him into a position he's just not suited for.

If you're on Amorim Watch, I personally think that it won't happen earlier than the November international break unless something cataclysmic happens.

I'd also only do it if I knew I could go get Glasner. But I could totally see Ineos doing it and then getting Southgate. I don't think they'll want a long term interim though just like they didn't when they got rid of EtH.

If Amorim is so inflexible that he can't alter his system even a small amount to work with the players he has and his (it's his in the sense that they are on his team) players are so incapable of playing the system he's asking them to play, then it's a bad match. Time isn't fixing this. At least not time he can be given.
