Could be 8 if Everton beat Liverpool tomorrow but either way, it would be a titanic collapse to mess it up now.
I'm willing to sacrifice a little for the greater good.

I really don't get why they were booing him every time he touched the ball. I get that he was a Chelsea academy kid. But IIRC , he didn't ask to leave. Chelsea wouldn't renew him, so they sold him in the last year of his deal rather than lose him for nothing.

They made him an offer, but not as much as he wanted. I think their final offer was 200K pounds per week or thereabouts. In retrospect… oops (by us).

Only a 1 year extension so he was probably right to leave. We shouldn't have paid as much as we did because they had no choice other than to sell for what they could get. Murtough sucked, though.

I don't think I've ever seen Luke Shaw say or do anything even remotely controversial. If that man is posting that on his Insta, I get the sense he's had a contempt for Garnacho for years.

Seemed like every player that had a duel with Garna made sure he ended up on the ground yesterday. Dalot, Bruno, Shaw...all ragdolled him

I don't recall the exact quote (edit: searched for it, see below) but in the summer Shaw talked about the players that had been excluded from the team and how they were getting rid of players that weren't team first. I felt like it was especially aimed at Garnacho and Rashford without naming anyone (Antony's sin is he's just not got the physicality for the EPL, and also too one footed; Sancho was a pre-existing exclusion, and Malacia just got an injury and apparently a bad surgery that killed his career).

"He's extremely tough on the group. He leaves no stone unturned and I think there are no stragglers in this group anymore. I think everyone has to put the team first. He's made that very clear.

"I think he's picking players on how he feels will be best for the team and that's his choice. As players, we're fully behind him and fully behind on his ideas and what he wants to implement in this team. We feel like a real team, especially this pre-season.

"Since I've been back, the group is so together and I think that's something that we need to keep to make us more of a family and everyone all together and we're all driving in the same direction."

The irony in all those summer quotes is that the guy he's praising is no longer here.

Race for the top 5 that everyone was so interested in looks boring. Even Liverpool should be fine now.

I don't want just top 5. I want 3rd. End the season in front of Liverpool. Better club mentality going into next season. Fighting for all of the points.

Top 5 looks settled but there are like 8 teams within 3 points of each other for 6-7-8. Those last European spots are up for grabs. And for many of those teams even Conference League is a big cash infusion and meaningful. The fight for the the EL spot will be huge.

City and their unlimited sovereign bankroll buy a trophy again or Arsenal bottle it. That's a hard choice to root against.

Holy crap. The play out of the back almost bit Arsenal early and ends up not just biting but dismembering City.

Onanarumma helped make up for his blunder with the strong throw to get the ball down the pitch quickly for the goal.

How in the world Gabriel can literally rip Haaland's shirt in half and not get a card is amazing. And then Hincapie coming in to shove Haaland while he is showing the damage to Taylor doubles down on amazing.

I have to admit, I've been wanting Arsenal over City for a long time. BUT, as we close in on the end of the season:

1. Arsenal meltdown would be much more entertaining.

2. Arsenal failing makes it more likely Bruno wins POTY.

3. City championships hurt less because everyone else just says "Oh well, the cheaters won again" and moves on with their lives.

So I guess I'm really just rooting for chaos. LOL. "Some men just like to watch the world burn."

I'm also in full "let's have the funniest outcome possible" mode which is why I will fully be rooting for Palace to take points off City after City secure these 3 points. What's funnier than Arsenal blowing it? Arsenal blowing it and then City blowing it right back.

The best would be if Dhabi win the league. Then actually get charged with their crimes and have to vacate the title. No one wins.

The EPL will become a non-profit foundation before City get punished for cheating.

I saw an explanation that the Premier League guidance is that hair pulling with force is violent conduct WHEN NOT CHALLENGING FOR THE BALL:

https://www.premierleague.com/en/news/4079974

However, the sending off of Michael Keane of Everton was in the context of a ball challenge where there was a pull while the players' focus is on a challenge. As was Martinez's. And you can understand why that matters because it isn't ballet, and when people are contesting the ball there will be arms to the face and a lot of other things that aren't ok off the ball.

However, if you look at the guidance, Gabriel forcefully applied force against Haaland, and it was during a stoppage, so it should have been a sending off under their guidance.

Howard Webb is incompetent, but retired refs like him need jobs too, so nothing will change.
