I think we can rightly complain about Amorim's tactics in this match. I'd also say our players sure lacked effort for a squad that only plays once a week.
It was the same lineup as Brighton. I think we just didn't play very well today.
I feel like we need someone else at LWB; I find myself getting frustrated with whomever starts there pretty regularly. (Dorgu is still a bit of a project; feel like we need someone that feels like a legit starter, and that really isn't Dorgu or Dalot).
Looking at the shot map on Sofascore; they had 11 shots in the box total and 8 in the second half. We had 6 total and 4 second half. Not that that is always the end-all be-all, but..
Edit: I miscounted; we had 7 total, 5 second half. Sue me.
Also Sesko currently looks like another player that is not ready for the Premier League speed. You can see him still thinking a bit when the play is already happening so he's a half second late on a lot of stuff I hope he can catch up. Because he has good attributes.
Not really this year on the whole. Or at least lately. We've had some games where the shots in the box were pretty even (I.e. within say 2 shots difference), and we significantly outshot Sunderland, but you have to go all the way back to City to get one where we were outshot by probably 2+ shots in the box (eyeballing the shot maps).
I'm serious when I say all this mess the last 11 months may very well have been Onana's fault. Or at least a good chuck of it.
He was not just bad at stopping shots but it looks like he couldn't organize a defense. We look night and day defensively in terms of shape and positioning.
I have no idea if Lammens will be the second coming of Schmichel or JAG. But he's light years ahead of Onana.
The end was dramatic, but the journey there was a little dry. I think they said in the entire match we had 2 shots on target, both went in, and they had 4 (I heard that after, so there must have been the two shots around 55', and then their two goals at the end). There weren't many off target shots either.
