Wow. That was completely unexpected.

Changing the GK totally changed the defense on free kicks and set pieces.

It helped that Liverpool scraped every bit of paint off the woodwork.

It took losing to United for the media to start calling out Liverpool's massive spend.

I saw a Sky video where Jaime Redknapp was waxing poetic on how, after seeing today's performance, there was no doubt in his mind that Wirtz would come good.

I think I must have watched a different game than Jaime Redknapp. Maybe he watched an old Leverkusen game today rather than Liverpool-United?

I gotta admit. It's pretty awesome to watch the fans of the team we just played be in full meltdown mode rather than us.

I think it needs to be pointed out that one of the best parts of yesterday was another match where we didn't think oh man what is the keeper going to do this game. Lammens hasn't had to be an all world shot blocker. He's just been stable, and he's been smart in his positioning in the box. That settles the nerves of the defense so much but can't be counted in a statistic.

Anyone know what happened to Dre_00 ? Hasn't posted at all since September.

I don't know; after the Brentford match, I'm not sure anyone felt like talking much (I sure didn't; that was rough). Then with Sunderland, well, how excited can you really get from beating a promoted team.

Zirkzee said to be asking for a loan in January. Not surprising give his lack of time on the field. The first time I saw him on the field for United, I thought, "we finally have a striker again." I don't know if the style of play we have or the speed of the premier league did it, but he's never found his footing for us.

Probably end up in Serie A and his career will take off....

Zirkzee is all arms and legs. He has no real speed or ball skills. Given we arent playing in the gummy bear cup or Europe, the only way he gets PT is if there are a ton of injuries.

Send him somewhere.

I'm not back to being confident, but I want to believe. If we can beat Brighton, I will be chugging the red Kool-Aid. Next three are Forest, Spurs, and Everton. So IF we could beat Brighton… I mean, I'm sure Dyche will do better than Not-A-Clown-Mate, but still, probably a relatively good time to draw them, and Everton I think have had difficulty against the more attacking teams they have faced (which may not totally be us yet, but we are trying hard to be).

So, anyway, I think if we could beat Brighton, that United Strand guy could start dreaming of a nice new buzz cut.

(Edit: I left out Spurs just because we haven't done great against them lately, obviously, they are the most talented out of the next few, and I think it is at their place. But….)

I like what Lammens is doing for us. He's settled our back line enough that they don't look like a group just waiting for the other shoe to drop.
