I honestly thought the call was going to benefit duke since he was an average FT shooter. But he sacked up and and made them both!
The city of Houston is brimming with excitement tonight at the chance at another title.maroon man said:
Unreal. Duke had this under control.
Epic fail & epic comeback!

Seems like a pretty weak play to have out of the timeout with the game on the line

Kenny Smith dubbing the Cougs the next iteration of "Clutch City" was pretty badass.

Both Final Four games were very entertaining. After Duke led Houston 59-45 with 8:17 left, Houston ended the game on a 25-8 run, including 9-0 in the last 47 seconds to advance to the championship game for the 3rd time and 1st time since 1984. Also, Houston its national-leading win streak to 18 games and snapped Duke's 15-game winning streak.
And this was the turning point of the game. They need to fix these rules. At the very least be consistent and call this a flagrant also.Texas A&M said:
They need to fix the flagrant foul rules. That six point possession by UofH could change the game.

Prevent offense (semi-stall) over the last 10 minutes prevents victory!94chem said:
One basket the final 10 minutes. It was that Flagg 3 at the 3 minute mark.
The Houston Cougars have branded themselves as the 4th team of the Houston metropolis behind the Astros, Rockets and Texans.bobinator said:
I don't know why really but I absolutely love this for Houston.
On the prior possession, Proctor needed to pass to Flagg to take the FTs.Scotts Tot said:Tergdor said:I mean, I'd try some movement instead of forcing him into a contested shotAlwaysNextYear89 said:You giving it to someone BESIDES the Player of the Year?Tergdor said:

Let me guess…you would have used Jimmy Chitwood as a decoy and had Buddy take the last shot.

I think the Gators take this easily Monday. Their big beasted in the 2nd half.

Florida's size is far more mobile that Duke. Flagg and Kon are guards assuming SF and PF.94chem said:DukeMu said:Prevent offense (semi-stall) over the last 10 minutes prevents victory!94chem said:

On paper, Florida was the only team with enough size to beat Duke. But the game isn't played on paper...
If UF sleeps through 20 minutes as usual, they will be strangled before they wake up.

Many casual people in Houston root for the Cougars as the hometown team. The same is similar for other Universities that represent a large city such as Memphis, Pittsburgh, and Miami.
A large portion of this teams fanbase is people that live in the city, and take on a liking for the local team.
Houston has a chance to end a 40 year nightmare on Monday.
Worked for Nova. Illinois lost the NC to that 2005 UNC team with McCants, Sean May, Jawad Williams, Marvin Williams. Roy Williams inside, outside game coupled with offensive rebounding neutralized Illinois for most of the game. I remember ILL made a big comeback in the second half, but it was not enough.94chem said:DukeMu said:Prevent offense (semi-stall) over the last 10 minutes prevents victory!94chem said:

And those 3 iso guards are a load. That's a tourney recipe that's been played over and over - Villanova, Illinois, etc.

100% agree. UH is a step above a JC and their fans are slightly below. In my 30 years after graduating from TAMU the only UH grads I have ever met have been teachers or coaches.
The Coogs are just a commuter college that need support from the city. Good luck to them against a University on Monday.
