No doubt, extremely low. But, I truly don't care and it has nothing to do with the plot of the show and/or how it ends next season.

Yea will being a crybaby the entire season took me out of the show when he was on screen, especially in the last few episodes. It was obnoxious. Like I said, bigger crybaby than Claire Danes in homeland. That said, we don't know if it has nothing to do with how the story eventually wraps up, but I agree it seems stupid and pointless up to this point.

Agreed. When he gave his speech to Mike then turned to stare outside the van and cry was when I was officially done with any scenes of his. It got old real fast.

Question, when vechna was giving the villain speech to El and it cut to the kid playing with spiders while he was manipulating the ether in to the mind flayer, it was just showing those scenes as flashbacks, correct? He was talking about finding a way to influence the real world while in his new place and the way it was presented was like he was going in to that kids mind to kill his parents, but I was 100% sure before that scene that he WAS the kid.

Vecna=Henry=001.

Those were flashbacks from different times laid across the same speech.

Yea thats what I understood prior to that scene but for some reason that scene to me made it seem like he found the gateway to Henry. I Was probably just distracted for a moment when that scene came on. Thanks.

I found it interesting that it was Vecna that created the mind flayer / shadow monster

The particles were there, but he created the monster when he was holding his arm up towards it.. when he was a kid, he drew the shadow monster

My one concern is that I just don't see where you take these characters next season in terms of their emotional stakes/character arcs. Because just about everyone feels like they evolved emotionally to the point of reaching the end of their respective character arcs, in pretty significant fashion. I totally get that there's plenty of *plot* left, but their character journeys feel complete. More than anything, that's why the final episode felt like a series finale and not a season finale, save for those last few minutes. I just really hope it they have somewhere to take take these characters mentally and not just physically.

Off the top of my head:

- Will still has to come out
- Nancy and Jonathan having to admit their relationship is over
- Steve maybe having to get over Nancy
- Dustin grieving Eddie
- Max escaping Vecna (Maybe has to make another emotional breakthrough to escape? Or maybe sacrifice herself.)
- The only characters who are kind of a blank slate going forward are Hopper and Joyce, but even then I feel like there's still plenty of stuff to mine with his dead daughter.

All valid arcs, and I can definitely see some good story there. I guess my issue is that they all just feel so inevitable at this point. That, and El truly feels like she came so far emotionally this season, that her arc too feels, say, 95% complete. That said, I have complete faith in the Duffer Brothers, and am definitely excited for the final season.

I feel that El dies in the last season. She sacrifices herself to save everyone in Hawkins.

Ha, I feel the exact opposite. That would be depressing as hell, IMO. She's already had such a hard, tragic life, that I feel like/hope the show "rewards" her with a relatively normal one when all is said and done.

New Article out today, July 4th with a little more info, whole thing is a decent read, but
this part is pertinent to recent discussion here.

Can't get Spolier tags to work..

DO NOT READ BELOW IF YOU HAVEN"T WATCHED LAST 2 EPISODES.

While the brothers know precisely how the series will end, they're not quite sure how to actually get there yet. "It's dangerous as a writer to be writing hours and hours and not know where you're going," Ross said. "I'd rather leave some of that middle journey vague and fuzzy."
"But so long as you know where that destination is, it sort of gives you that clarity. It's like that lighthouse blinking in the distance ... while a lot of Season 5 is actually pretty blurry, the last 30 minutes of it are pretty clear in our heads. So if we can make the journey entertaining, I think that we have an end that will hopefully satisfy. You can't satisfy everyone, but the hope is that it's something that feels right for this story."
[sp]The brothers also teased that the death of beloved Hellfire Club president Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) will have "huge repercussions" amongst the survivors. Yes. Sorry. Eddie is definitely dead, the Duffers confirmed, squashing all hopes of a Martin Brenner-esque resurrection. Max (Sadie Sink), however, is alive, but "brain dead, blind, and all of her bones are broken," the brothers said.
Sink recently told EW that filming Max's near-death scene in the hands of Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) was an emotional experience. "It really is just so sad," Sink said. "When you're putting yourself in that moment and then you're with someone like Caleb [McLaughlin], who I've known since I was very little, sometimes things can feel very real on that set. It was very emotional." [/sp]

TLDR version: Eddie isn't coming back and Max is brain dead, blind, and her bones are broken

Just FYI, you can't bold text or put hyperlinks like that between spoiler tags. Basically, as I understand it, for some reason you can't put *any* code whatsoever between spoiler tags, hence why it wasn't working for you.

As much as I loved the character and the MOP scene, was anyone else annoyed at just how completely pointless Eddie's death was? What exactly was his end goal? Steve et al were already inside the house, and Eddie knew that. What was the point of his sacrifice other than to provide the audience with an emotional gut punch?

Also, Eddie's death essentially guarantees that Steve does not die next season, as Eddie's death was basically a stand in for Steve as the older brother figure to Dustin. You can't play that cord twice in the same show.

Can someone explain why Eddie felt he needed to go back instead of escape with Dustin? Dustin called him a "hero" at the end, but it wasn't clear to me he saved anyone.

That said, I thought Joseph Quinn did an incredible job with the role and hope to see more of him in the future. I also thought the actor who played Jason was great but wish they hadn't turned him psycho at the end.

I agree, I would hate if El winds up dying

If any of the core group sacrifices themself, it just has to be Will.

I was thinking about what would be the best way to definitively conclude the show. IMO, the only way to do that is to close El's storyline. I think instead of dying perhaps she has to somehow close the gate(s) from the upside down. She ends up alive but separated from everyone.

Maybe my memory is iffy on it but has Will contributed anything the entire series other than being a victim? He is never going to do anything significant enough to be a sacrificial hero.

Just going to go cry somewhere

Eddie and Dustin didn't know what was going on with the rest of them. In their minds they were saying lives, and for a while they were. They had no communication with the rest of the group, so they were charged with distracting the bats as long as they could.

Eddie made the decision to go back out and continue to distract then despite knowing he probably wasn't going to make it.

Agreed. Not sure how that bought more time unless the bats could go through the tear and kill regular townsfolk. We know they ate fish through the tear so maybe they would have gone through and killed everyone.

Will's most important storyline is his connection to Vecna and the upside down

Really enjoyed the season, but felt like the final episode could have been trimmed quite a bit, particularly the denouement (if you can call it that). I know they needed the reunions, but the cabin repair, the donating clothes and making sandwiches could have been tightened up. No big deal in the big scheme of things, though.

because they are part of the hive mind, and it keeps venca from calling them back to the house., of course, you'd think that the hive mind could prioritize targets, since at that point Vecna knew what was up.

Show should've ended in this season.

Cut out all the poorly acted sobby dialogues from between the characters and the episodes could've been shorter. Such lame cringey stuff.

Other than that the action parts were great.

I enjoyed the season, probably my second favorite behind season 3. The Russian stuff got boring at times and the final episode ran 30 minutes too long, but otherwise, it was really good.

I think he wasn't in control because he was in Max's mind. He knew what they were doing but couldn't control them and try to kill Max at the same time.

The Good:
More horror
One's origin
Great performances by Steve, Dustin, Hopper, Murray, Max, Eddie, Lucas

The Bad:
The west coast characters and that arc
Doubling back to the prison served no purpose
Cringey robin/band girl love interest
Could have shaved off a lot of minutes per episode.
Fred's role in the car accident… seemed rushed and didn't make me care enough about what he was going through which made him susceptible to Vecna

The Ugly:
Will
Surfer boy pizza driver

Overall:
Really good season and a nice deviation. Glad the end is coming because the storyline is getting old. How many more floating Force battles are really necessary? The mind flayer is played out too.

Doubling back served a big purpose. It destroyed the demogorgons and demodogs, but it also destroyed the part of the hive mind inhabiting them. I think that also showed that Vecna feels that too, so killing him might require killing that thing.
