Reports on X that Maravan prison was hit and was abandoned by guards and the prisoners are freed. Dissidents and Kurdish fighters were held there.

Several Kurdish factions are grouping together in opposition to the IRGC so we will likely see some street level fighting in the future. I'm pretty sure the Iranian police and military are holed up in mosques and religious centers so I expect to see images of some of them in flames soon and they try to blame US and Israel bombing.

Probably inside girls' schools.

That is their favorite place to hide and park weapons because it gives the American left something to screech about.

Also saw a video of political dissidents being taken out and transported to likely target spots as human shields. No idea if real, who can tell these days, but not a big leap to imagine would be accurate.

Iran's strategy here is quite the headscratcher. IMO it's more attributable to the removal of their leadership than any kind of grand vision. The IRI's policy in the 2000s and 2010s was characterized by carefully camoflauged rationality and shrewdness. That is nowhere to be seen now. Iran's behavior is pure spiral ham.

In any case this jacket will follow the IRI regime for life, just like a snitch or weirdo jacket would follow an inmate around the state penal system.

IIRC Iran had border skirmishes with Astan <1yr ago. And an independent Kurdistan would be a feisty bulwark against the coming Turkish domination of the region. Point being, I wonder if we'll see new Kurdistan and Balochistan nations born out of the events of the last 24-36 hours.

Who or what is Balochistan? Just another sect that's been oppressed since borders were drawn in WW2?

Unfortunately the UAE nor others in the region can keep up with the missiles if Iran has the numbers that Isreal believes they have. Drones seem doable in uncontested airspace. If UAE had 15 incoming in that period, how many went to the other gulf and wider area states?
