Poor drone never knew what hit it.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Doubtful. A tremendous amount of planning went into this operation. We didn't go into this without an idea of how many interceptors we would need to use. We knew it would be a lot. That was one of the factors in determining whether or not to launch the operation.

South Korea-based systems may be moved amid prolonged U.S. military operation against Iran

Quote:

Experts believe that air defense assets of the U.S. Forces Korea (USFK), such as Patriot and THAAD, Terminal High Altitude Area Defense systems, as well as surveillance and reconnaissance assets like the MQ-9 'Reaper' unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) permanently stationed at Gunsan Air Base in South Korea last year, could be among the assets to be relocated. In June of last year, prior to the 'Midnight Hammer' operation to strike Iranian nuclear facilities, the U.S. cyclically deployed three out of eight USFK Patriot batteries to the Middle East to prepare for potential retaliatory attacks from Iran. The over 500 USFK personnel and Patriot batteries that were mobilized at the time returned to South Korea in October of last year.

Experts also believe that the THAAD battery in Seongju, North Gyeongsang Province, and its intercept missiles could be deployed to the Middle East. Just before the outbreak of the war, the British Financial Times, FT, citing a U.S. military official, reported that "up to 150 THAAD missiles were expended during last year's '12-day war,'" expressing concerns over potential missile shortages if the war prolongs. Shin Jong-woo, Secretary-General of the Korea Defense Research Forum, stated, "If the airstrikes prolong, the U.S. will likely utilize the combat power and assets of the USFK." Im Cheol-gyun, a senior research fellow at the Korea Research Institute for Strategy, remarked, "Since South Korea is also facing ballistic missile threats from North Korea, the deployment of USFK air defense assets to the Middle East could pose significant problems from our perspective."

Entirely possible though if we were even slightly wrong and the Iranian attack distribution has been off from what was anticipated

Hard to believe we sell those Idiots weapons which can take down our planes. And then teach them to use those weapons…

If we had to fight them we wouldn't be using those planes.

Perfect example of a trash twitter source. Red flashing light! US planning to send air defense from SK!

Other sources: a SK paper reports that the US is considering moving air defense.

Don't worry, I only trust Twitter sources that have the flashing light and lots of random words in all caps.

Edit: I responded with wrong topic. I'll have to find this. It was in WSJ but this has been a pretty common concern for some time and reported multiple times in the past whenever there is talk of us getting involved somewhere.

Chinese ships have already passed through the Straits of Hormuz in the last few hours

we have sank 9 of the largest Iranian Sepah Naval fleet

I am sure we are getting to the point of strafing their speedboats with our Seahawks

Was this the Iranian "aircraft carrier"?

No that was the Corvette tied up at the dock in Bandar Abbas

when it blew apart, it also destroyed two small auxiliary ships tied up behind it literally swamping them and turning them turtle

we haven't seen the "carrier" photos/video yet but I hope we do!!

it would be a very bad idea to move out any SAM batteries from South Korea

by the time they are redeployed most of the threat will be mitigated, and it only encourages China and the NORKS

Why is tracking of our military planes even allowed? Especially when they were preparing for all of this. Seems like we wouldn't want the enemy to know all of that information. I've always wondered since it became popular to do that on the internet.

not really

what is Iran going to do about it?

and in reality, when the USAF wants to do something in secret- they just turn the transponders off.

Here is WSJ article laying out risks of low munitions. There is a secondary, earlier article linked within this one quoting Cane about the risk and concern as well.

There are a bazillion articles on preferred munitions stocks issues from think tanks in DC.
