I like the "oh my gosh, I'm so surprised! I'm just randomly dressed to the nines on the beach in front of this flower setup that looks like a beach wedding altar". Gotta get it captured for the 'gram story

There's a very simple explanation for why the Cowboys put off signings like this - the Jones Family Office (Blue Star Innovation Partners) has liquidity issues.
They are either complete morons (which probably figures in a little) or they are managing this thing to defer/avoid cash outlays as long as possible. Remember that any time you want to defer a cap hit, you do it using upfront money (signing/roster bonuses). Also keep in mind the Cowboys rank around middle of the pack (14th I think) in dead cap money in the NFL.
I'm assuming a contract for Parsons would probably bring with it a $40+ million signing bonus. There's probably a lot of reasons they are hoping to defer that bill, regardless of the cap penalty the team pays.
My guess is that the organization has been HEAVILY leveraged to finance all of the other Jones family ventures. Family offices across the US are all dealing with issues of PE lockups and being paper rich/cash poor. I doubt the Jones Family Office is an exception here.
yeah I doubt Jerry actually stroked a check and put that in an escrow account.chris1515 said:Jeff99 said:

Don't forget that all guaranteed money has to be deposited into an escrow account at the time the contract is signed. Dak got $230M guaranteed, CeeDee $100M guaranteed. I don't care who you are, coming up with $330M in cash is going to hurt. Adding another $100M to that…on top of how much other guaranteed money you've given out is going to make someone think twice.
Sure, Jerry has a huge net worth, but almost all of that is in a single asset that is very illiquid. Might be interesting to see that statement of cash flows!

Here's a Wildcard pick at #12 that we really haven't talked about... Jalon Walker.
That could be a very interesting/unexpected pick and I wouldn't hate it. I haven't studied him much, and him wearing #11 helps, but he definitely looks like Micah Parsons running around out there.
Obviously I would follow Rule 1.TyHolden said:

She's an Aggie from Round Rock. Did not know this.Señor Chang said:Obviously I would follow Rule 1.TyHolden said:

I think it's a def possibility because Jeanty is almost 100% gone and I will be very surprised if TMac is there either. Wouldn't hate the pick. That pass rush would be something.
I don't know her lol.jr15aggie said:TyHolden said:

I was looking at your profile to prove that you were too old for her but I discovered a fun fact.
You, Me, & Mac must be TexAg brothers. We all joined in 2002 on consecutive days... July 20, 21, 22. I wonder if there was a promotion or something happening back then because that's an odd coincidence!

The Cowboys need 2 RBs and this draft would be the perfect draft to get two studs if they didnt whiff so badly on Mazi. There are several speed backs and power backs in this class. Get Judkins and Martinez or Johnson (love him) but unlikely they can do this due to other needs. So that brings up my next solution, draft a speed back like Judkins then get that Lan guy. Still wouldnt mind them getting a power back late in the draft.jr15aggie said:
No way to say this without sounding a bit racist... but I love white boys that ball out at skill positions. I was really high on Lad McConkey last year and so far he's just as big of a stud in the NFL as he was in college.
Gotta be careful with smaller schools, but Lan is definitely a baller. He plays the game like he LOVES it. We need 2 RBs in this draft... I would love it if Lan was a late round/UDFA priority. He looks like a guy that will make the gameday roster, give you some reps at RB, and will give you 110% on special teams.
And the #Cowboys are not signing Stephon Gilmore today, while we’re at it. https://t.co/wfzF2fuppx

$37 Million in cap space right now... that could get even larger if we went ahead and signed Micah... and the Cowboys have ZERO plans to spend any of it.

I have heard from multiple people, one of which is associated with another NFL franchise tell me they are cash poor. Lawyers, settlements, other business deals, etc have eaten up a lot of cash. People on here and elsewhere do not want to believe it but the way they do business and the rumors paint a different picture.AggieMPH2005 said:jr15aggie said:

It's been said on this thread already but the simplest explanation for why they do the things they do is that they are cash poor. I imagine interest rates these last few years have not been their friend in terms of managing their debt and real estate. It's funny seeing them act more like the Oakland A's than the New York Yankees. Not Ha Ha funny though.
I think Dallas is focused on getting Golden at WR and trying to trade back to 18. Not sure they will be able to find a trade partner though.jr15aggie said:
So, do y'all get the sense that we are zeroing in on WR in the 1st round? Definitely feels that way. I don't think we'll see anything done with the O-line until day 3... "we like our guys" (and I'm fine with that... not enough picks to get everything). I still like the idea of trading back a few spots, but I don't expect anybody to overpay for this years crop of players.
One example/idea that I sorta like is moving back to Seattle at 18. The compensation would be we swap our 3rd rounder for their #50 pick in the 2nd (move down 6 spots in the 1st & move up 26 spots in the 2nd). It's an underpay for sure, and maybe Seattle would also throw in a 4th or 5th rounder to get a little closer.

Yeah I don't' think we're going to see a ton of moves. Just not a good enough draft imo. If anyone is trading up, it's trading up into the top 5 to try and get one of Carter, Hunter and maybe Jeanty. Those are really the only true blue chip prospects in this draft.

Golden in the first,
one of the OSU backs in the second OR wait on the RB Sampson from Tennessee in the third.
