The Jones's get a little blame for some of the cap issues, but they should also get praise for having players worthy of top deals.

I heard a really interesting breakdown and argument for not paying Micah... Of the top 10 highest paid defenders in the league, NONE of them have won a SB and only Bosa has even been to a SB.

And that stat sorta lines up with how the refs and the league favor the offense... Great DEs get held and great CBs can't blanket the WRs with PI flags flying everywhere.

I haven't been online much this long weekend, but wanted to weigh in on everything now that dust settled.

It will be several years before anyone can accurately say who "won" this trade. And it's possible it helps or hurts both teams. The Packers have now gone all-in on a 2-3 year window to win it all. Not a bad strategy to take a gamble and I think most fans would support winning a Super Bowl even if it meant getting into salary cap hell and having to blow up the team a few years later. The problem is that they are going all-in and I don't think Jordan Love is good enough to win it all. But time will tell.

For the Cowboys, I think this trade is fine and I think the value they got back plus the value of not having to pay almost $50m per year for a single defensive player is good. We've already seen now that they extended Bland early, which is great (whether you love the player or not, the strategy of extending your guys early is how winning teams do it). The big question is - is this a true shift in the Jones' mentality? Did they finally realize they had been operating wrong? Or is it just that Jerry had personal beef with Micah that caused all of this? We don't really know.

My hope is that the Cowboys front office has seen that they made a mistake with the Dak extension and are using this season to evaluate his long term future on the team. If they don't think they can win a SB with him, 2027 would be palatable to cut/trade him and draft a QB of the future while eating a big cap hit, especially if the rest of the core players are signed long-term.

The Cowboys had to do something, they were starting to get fleeced by agents.

Micah's contract getting messy was a direct result of Jerry screwing up Dak and CDs deals (those never should have drug out like they did).

But the Cowboys trading Micah and immediately signing Bland to an extension has gone a long way to reset the narrative.

Agreed. If they go out and extend Tyler Smith relatively quickly as well, I might start to believe they are actually changing their tune a bit.

The fact that Dak is still the highest paid QB in AAV is very telling - waited way too long and way overpaid.

This is my view as well. I have no problem full-sending it for a super bowl, maxing out the salary and so on. Heck we've seen it here in our back yard with the Stars. But the difference is that I think the Stars have the guys to get it done, and I don't think the Packers do. On top of that, football is SUCH a QB driven sport that you almost need a really high level QB to even get half way, and I just don't know how good Jordan Love is in comparison to the other guys in the conference. Just in the conference I think I can confidently say Hurts, Stafford (when healthy), Daniels, Dak, Baker, Purdy and MAYBE Goff are better than Love. Now Love has a good ceiling in theory but who knows how often he's reaching that ceiling.

If (and it's a big if) the Packers have a **** year, Jerry will talk so much **** that it'll be hilarious. As a Cowboys fan working with a lot of Packers fans, I'll talk a lot of **** as well.

The difference between 11-6 and 6-11 in the NFL is often razor thin and 1 or 2 injuries can really swing the pendulum.

There is a real world where both our 1st round picks next year are in the 20's. There's also a real world where both are top 15 picks.

Back on the media trade talk... I keep hearing multiple outlets saying "Dallas could have gotten more".

Man... I just don't see it. We got 2 first rounders and a DT starter / 3x pro bowl player. That's A LOT! As a guy that follows and loves the NFL draft, that's gonna be a hard pill to swallow for GB come April '26 & '27. They are gonna need those picks to roster build but they no longer have them... it's a lot for a non QB.

GB made the trade to "win now". I don't see a scenario where they (or anybody else) gives more.

Even if those picks end up being in the 20s, we can still move up to take a guy we like (outside of QB) in the top 10. Having flexibility in the draft is great.

Dallas has a pretty good track record for finding probowlers all over the first round. I like the trade. The only question is how much does Clark have left? It's fruitless to guess at what more they could have received. Logically thinking, yeah maybe an extra mid-round pick or maybe a younger player... but I think the most overlooked aspect of this situation is Micah himself The media doesn't seem to care what that contract would have done to Dallas and how locked in our ceiling would have been. We know Micah can't carry a defense to a championship. So why pay him like he can? He'll generate a bunch of highlights and stats mostly in the first half of the season... great.

As long as it's official and no take backs, I don't care.

Fine, we'll take him back on his 5th year option and keep the DT and one of the picks as compensation

Had to post this after seeing it in my YouTube feed. Does any other man represent the typical Iggles fan more than this drunken asshat?

One name that's not really being talked about enough is Joe Brady. I could get pretty excited about that hire.
