It is something to consider in 2027. I do not like this qb class at all so far. And Dak looks good. That said, in 2027 he'll be 34 and will have likely spent 2 seasons getting beat up behind 2 shaky tackles and trying to keep them in shoot-outs. And I'm not even counting the major tire he blew last season, so possibly 3 straight seasons of a real toll taken on his body. There is a fair chance he ends up like Romo where his brain knows the cheat codes but his body can't hold up by then

I dont see a franchise qb in the upcoming draft. My fear is Arch Manning is gonna be there and Jerry wont be able to help himself

I think there is a very good chance Manning stays in college all 5 years. At least 4 for sure. Collecting tons of NIL and it's clear that family is prepared to be very patient with his development.

Green Bay did this with Aaron Rogers and Jordan Love. They're a pretty good / better organization. I'm not hating on Dak. I just think he has 1-2 years left at best if we're going to be any good. If you see the next Aaron Rogers in the draft, you grab him. I don't know if any of these qbs are that good. Just throwing it out. We're gonna have a pretty high draft pick for probably a couple years.

No way he leaves this year. None. Even if he rallies (I highly doubt he will), that family knows most successful NFL qb's played a lot of college ball. Guys that started one season are basically the poster boy for NFL Bust. The decision they made on tu made it very clear they are in no hurry. Peyton and Eli both used all 4 years of eligibility and started more than 3

I think a lot of these college QBs need to take some notes on what is going on with young NFL QBs and get the absolute most out of college to develop. Who have been the successful college QBs to come out the last handful of seasons? Guys who've spent four and five years in college and who have at minimum two years of starting experience. Who have been the busts? Guys who had meat on the bone to come back and started maybe one to one and a half years.

My fault. I thought you meant the first overall pick.

But my thought remains the same for any QB picked in the top 10. That's just a lot of money to pay for two QBs on the roster.

LOL the cowboys aren't replacing Dak while he is under his current contract. Anyone saying he hasn't been one of the best QB's in the first 3 weeks hasn't actually watched the games.

And the the thought of drafting a QB this year? Sellers is just Anthony Richardson 2.0 who couldn't beat out DANIEL JONES!

Arch Manning? He's literally Chris Simms re-incarnated, how'd his pro career work out?

The only option for improvement this year is scheming a defense for the players that are actually gonna play it so your offense isn't constantly playing from behind....and that won't happen in season.

So this will be a 2020 redux and we'll see if Dak actually stays healthy this time. I for one will try to play a bit more golf on sundays as the weather cools down!

Dak is one of the best and has continued to work his butt off. He's in incredible shape and can play for a while. They fixed the run game, now they need to fix the freaking defense. This has been comically bad.

The Micah trade is still the best move Jerry has made in a decade and may be the only good move he'll make until he's no longer with us. Destroying our cap for Micah was NOT going to help this team.

The good news is I still don't think this team is that far off. This defense is without its 2 best players (Overshown & Bland). Get those guys back, fire the DC, prioritize defense in the draft, and spend some of our cap money on a legit free agent or two and we can turn it around pretty quick.


As long as you have a franchise QB you have a chance. And since Dak isn't going anywhere until at least the '28 season, we might as well try and build a team around him.

I have seen a ton of discourse around the Micah trade being the reason our defense looked so bad.

Micah and his $47million wouldn't be making this defense a ton better! Could we get more pressure and possibly more errant throws from the opposing QB? Yes. But the offenses could still game plan to neutralize Micah and attack our terrible secondary and nothing would be better.

I turned the game off in the second half, but I saw enough.

We need faster LBs, better DBs and just overall more speed on defense. Everyone looks SO SLOW.

We addressed NT. The other glaring hole for the last decade has been safety. We've been piece mealing safety together for years and if we're going to be a coverage dependent team, you can't do it with the safeties we have.

Micah would help the pass rush a bit, there's no questioning that, but we'd be getting gashed a lot worse with the run, our secondary and LBers would still be awful, and we'd still have Eberflus calling plays and deciding the scheme. I think it's a wash at the end of the day. We don't have the players to play how Eberflus wants to play (or we aren't utilizing players that would better fit it like Liufau or Shemar James), and if he isn't forced to adjust then he'll be fired Monday next week. Plain and simple.

Yeah, Diggs got his money, got hurt, and now doesn't seem all that interested in being in pain forever.

As far as Micah, he'd help some but not nearly enough. They need a quantity of high end help.

Don't fool yourself: Micah would've helped a lot but with the state of the rest of the scattered defense, it really wouldn't have mattered.

But, the NFL is nutty this year. Cleveland just beat Green Bay. Anything can happen. The Wildcards are going to be extremely close.

If the cowboys can make some adjustments, they can be in the WC race.

But, damn, that was hard to watch yesterday. I actually thought Dallas would have made some adjustments and pulled away in the second half, not the other way around…

More man and more blitzes. That's the formula to improve the defense. Rushing 4 (none of which are stellar) while sitting back in a zone that your safeties are not reliable at executing is just begging to get you pants'd. You have to create more negative plays to get the offense behind the chains, and it plays better to what your secondary can do

It will cost you some big plays, but guess what, you are giving them up anyway. But it can also create plays that end drives.

I'm not a Dak super fan or apologist but he isn't the problem. In fact he is the only really good thing about the team. He is a well above avg. QB, good captain and teammate, good rep. of the franchise. Etc. The problem is his contract and that is clown Jerry Jones fault. Dak is waaaaaaay overpaid, as is CD, and because of that they don't have the ability to build a team, and spending on defense is almost an afterthought.

Jerry is an idiot. So much $$ tied up in Dak and CD they can't build a team. There are 22 starters and 44 2-deep players, you have to build a team roster.

Eberflus has been a good DC before, had good Ds in CHI. He is NOT the problem. The D personnel is the problem. Firing Eberflus will not fix or change anything .

Cowboys had a bad defense in 2024 and very little was done to address it. And then the Micah trade gutted any chance the D had to be even average.

I was actually OK with trading Parsons but it should have been done after the 2024 season, for a bigger return, and picks in the 2024 draft. Even with Micah the D last year was poor to terrible. Overshown and Bland are decent players, but their absence does not equal having a horrificly bad defense. They should have traded Micah and collected 3-4 top 3 round picks and used them all on defense to play in 2025.

Nothing will ever change about the Cowboys and their results so long as Jerry is GM, period, and everyone knows it. Very few teams have such high draft picks that 1-3 years in are constantly being inactive for games or barely making any contributions to the team.

Right now Eberflus is a scapegoat. It's the talent on defense that is a problem, not the DC. Although I think Micah Parsons is overrated as far as his ability to build a defense around and be a team leader on defense, he will thrive in GB as they already had a good defense. If he was still in Dallas at least we would have some semblance of a pass rush. Game yesterday was the first time Caleb Williams had not been sacked in and NFL game.

This is a 6-11 Cowboys team. And the draft picks from the Micah trade will be useless with Jerry and his idiot sons having any input on the draft picks and team personnel and roster building.

They've gotta get Ezeiruaku, Kneeland and Houston on the field more, and limit Sam Williams. He ain't it anymore. No clue how much juice that knee injury took from him but it seems like a lot.

Eberflus was a good defensive coach and they do have a personnel problem on defense. But from what I'm seeing, he's a guy intent on running his system his way and not adjusting to the talent he does have. They are not completely devoid of defensive talent, but I'm seeing a lot if pounding on square pegs into round holes. Some of that may be in part that he spent training camp putting in his system thinking he'd have Micah to add to it. Maybe whatever zone heavy vision he had for this defense works when you put a terror up front, exposing your safeties less. But it's time to adjust to what you have, buddy

My guess would be that they give Eberflus this week to make adjustments etc., and if it doesn't get better he'll be let go. You just cannot continue to be HISTORICALLY awful against the pass.

I don't think they'll fire him during the season. He'll change some stuff up, they'll get a little more adept at understanding the concepts. It will suck but Jerry is slow to pull the trigger on midseason stuff.
