I don't understand how Dallas county can have 2.5x the population of Collin county but 6x the number of deaths.
Demographics are a part of that. I would bet Dallas has a higher percentage of people in generally pooer heath with obesity, diabetes, etc.

Long-term care facilities/nursing homes
Demographics that tend to have worse healthcare in Dallas
Other demographics that tend to have multi-generational households
Collin County is predominately single-family homes; Dallas County has more pockets of dense population
Collin County is filled with families, and children/younger folks are less impacted by COVID

Yeah, all of the 14 fatalities were over the age of 40, with 10 of 14 over 60.

This virus is still wreaking havoc on the elderly and elder care facilities.

Are the deceased numbers on a lag similar to the hospitalizations? Seems like tuesdays are always the 'worst' days.

I bet there's some sort of correlation between corruption and deaths...

Public transportation is another factor...so is population density.

There is a lot of belief that a slight exposure causes minimal symptoms, while multiple exposures in a short period of time can cause critical cases.

I guess it's possible that some of the folks died on different days but they're officially reported as 'today' or technically yesterday.

It's still 14 people in a county of 2,000,000. If the hospitals are in good shape we have to ease into life again.

Right, not concerned especially with the hospital numbers, only 13 or so in the hospital in Collin Co. Just curious why Tuesdays have been the highest.

We never get the important answer to testing capacity. My wife (doc at Presby Dallas) hasn't heard of anyone not being able to get tested immediately in weeks (months maybe).

Just told will not be asked to go back to office until Jan 2021 at a minimum. Office can't supply enough PPE and can't keep the ****ters clean enough.

My company just announced we would be going back in July, and for a while will alternate 2 weeks at the office and 2 weeks at home. I'm saving so many miles on my car right now and I must admit it'll be nice to go back and forth between commuting and working from home. I'd go crazy never actually being with my colleagues but half and half like that would be pretty cool. Maybe we will do it forever.

No

"Outdoor protests pose less of a risk than large indoor gatherings, said Dr. John Carlo, a former medical director of Dallas County's health department who now runs a local network of HIV clinics."

Wtf

Quote:

A recent analysis of cell phone data from people who attended anti-lockdown protests in Michigan, Florida and other states, suggests the potential of spreading COVID-19 to previously unaffected parts of the country.

Protesters came from far away and returned to many rural areas, said Dr. Rob Davidson, an emergency room physician and executive director of the Committee to Protect Medicare, which reported the data. The organization lobbies for broader access to affordable health care and has argued for a more vigorous anti-pandemic response from the Trump administration.

This week's protests, focused on police brutality and the killings of unarmed black people, fall into a different category, he said

"If protesters are mostly from a big city urban environment that are already exposed to this, it may have less of an effect overall," he said. He added that African-Americans, who have been more likely than any other racial or ethnic group to be hospitalized or to lose their lives to COVID-19, have already suffered disproportionately
. "I think people will weigh that and take a calculated risk, and I can't fault them for that."

From the article...
Quote:

Jenkins said that health officials are focused on three indicators about the virus' spread: hospitalizations, emergency-room visits and admissions to intensive care units.
The article does not discuss ANY of those metrics.

It doesn't even make sense.

Dallas is trending the right way and has for a while.

If the media would stop talking about this crap it would just go away. This is the biggest hoax in history and I can't believe people are still buying into it. I was talking with a local ICU nurse on Friday (she's dating my best friend who is an Aggie) and asked her what her thoughts were. She said that she's personally treated 12 COVID patients that have died. She said that 11 of the 12 would have died within the next 3-4 months of something else. She said they get reimbursed much more for COVID-related deaths. I still can't believe we destroyed our economy over a wussy virus that only kills really sick and old people.
