https://www.dallascounty.org/Assets/uploads/docs/hhs/2019-nCoV/C-19-risklevelmgmt/032121-DallasCounty-COVID-19-Hospitalization-Data.pdf

Hospitalizations in Dallas county have been below 200 for 3 straight days - 184 is the latest total (page 6). The last time we had 3 sub-200 days in a row was sometime prior to June 1, 2020 (which is around when they started daily reporting of this)...Clay's little graph only goes back to July 24th - but you can see the plummet.

Daily ER visits are on page 4 (has had a high correlation to future hospitalizations coming down the pipe).....maybe even better news here - this chart goes back to March 16, so can see that the latest daily total of 271 visits (and the last week or so) is as good as its been since mid-April 2020.

...but alas, none of this matters - page 2 still shows us at "RED: STAY HOME STAY SAFE"

You will stay home until you are told otherwise. I drove down I-45 last night and have never seen so much traffic. People are obviously ignoring these "warnings".

People were ignoring before the vaccine came out. The crap is bogus they continue to spew out.
CNN still running their "death counter" and talking about about how the decrease in cases is "plateau'ing". It never ends with these people as they only exist to pray on people fears.

I just got back from Galveston and there is no masking anywhere and it's ****ing glorious. The whole state between Austin and Galveston was that way. I actually felt bad for the (mostly) masked Moms walking with unmasked families. Pretty dead give away about who has been driving the Covid fear and who is fed up with the bull*****
We are in Rockport which is Deplorable country for the most part. Went out to lunch yesterday and as I was walking out of the restaurant a family with 2 kids was waiting to be seated.

Kid: "Mom! Why doesn't he have to wear a mask!?" I just smiled at her.

This generation of kids are going to welcome oppression with open arms what with all the brain washing they get these days.

Keep in mind there was no signage at this establishment for masks period. Most of the staff were not wearing one either.

Why does it matter so much to you that it causes you to create a post to mock others? I'd say the same thing if someone mocked a person that mentioned they were still masking, avoiding public places, or getting vaccinated. What causes one to feel so morally superior that the mere mention of any alternative choices should be mocked?

We bend our knee to the King of Kings. Don't pretend you know me.

That being said, I should not have been so passive aggressive with my comment. It is annoying to read how flippant many are of other's choices. I shouldn't mock you for yours.

Rule of thumb that I carry is this:

If you can't change it, then it is off limits. For example, you are missing a leg or you were born with three ears or whatever.

If you can change it, then fire away. For example, tattoos...clothing choices...or in this case, masks.

If someone chooses to wear a paintball mask and ride their bike (like I saw a couple days ago), wear a mask alone in their car, or punch a hole in the mask so that they can "breathe better", I am going to say you are a dumbass and there is nothing you can do about it.

Wearing a mask is absolutely a personal choice. But it's also absolutely fair game to be made fun of for idiocy.

Respec. I don't very often see people come back when they feel they were in the wrong. I know I'm guilty of bowing on the internet when I should have just done this.

one could argue his exposure in all of this is a blessing. I mean at this point the janitor down at city hall provides more value to the city including fight against Covid. That person is at least cleaning.

Ahem- I'd like to share some snippets from the CODE ORANGE guidelines - based on our public health experts' guidance they so graciously bestowed upon us.

First off, I'm sure many of you are wondering if you can finally have some home repairs done for the first time in 13 months now that we are only in "moderate risk". Well - think again:

"Consider only emergency or non-cosmetic repairs. Continue physical distancing and make sure workers practice hand hygiene and are wearing facial coverings. Delay or exercise extreme caution if over 65 or in a high-risk group."

Youth sports?

" Small group non-contact sports like tennis could be considered in groups of 2-4 people, ideally with the same group of people if activities are ongoing. Avoid sports like soccer, baseball, basketball, football outside household groups. Practice good hand hygiene following activities. Clean equipment before and after use. Avoid if in a high risk group or live in a household with a high risk individual. Wear facial coverings as much as possible."

Hmm..well at least it's safe to go to the pool now right?!

" Not recommended unless strict protocols are in place such as swimming in lanes only or staying well-spaced within the pool. Do not use locker rooms. No group water aerobics classes. Look for facilities with good cleaning practices, avoid all high touch surfaces, and practice good hand hygiene after touching any necessary surface like pool ladder rails. Staff and clients wear facial coverings when not in pool and practice good physical distancing and frequent hand hygiene. Do not eat in the pool area. Avoid if over 65 or in a high-risk group."

And when we finally get down to Yellow and Green we should abide by these standards for Home repairs:
Quote:

Continue physical distancing and make sure workers are wearing facial coverings.
(Seems kinda racist to me...)

And when get to Green for Pools:
Quote:

Staff and clients wear facial coverings when not in pool and practice good physical distancing and frequent hand hygiene. Perform hand hygiene before eating in the pool area
For individual sports:
Quote:

Wear facial coverings and practice phys-ical distancing and frequent hand hygiene. Do not share equip-ment during the activ-ity. Wipe equipment before and after use.
For Group sports:
Quote:

High contact sports like wrestling or martial arts should still be avoided without rigorous testing and cleaning programs. Practice good hand hygiene following activities. Clean equipment/mats before and after use. Wear facial coverings when possible and practice physical distancing and frequent hand hygiene.

Yes, I think they'll be gone by July 4th, with Labor Day at the latest and Memorial Day at the earliest.

I don't have kids in school, but are their extra curricular activities still limited? In my life, the only thing that isn't back opened up is my office, and I know that is changing soon. Church, gym, day care, stores, restaurants, etc are all open.

Exact same ituation here. Of course my office is at a manufacturing site so they are being careful in only allowing manufacturing related people onsite (not me).

I have an international trip coming up so I am being cooped up for two weeks (not chancing a vacation over a positive) but will go back to normal after that.

Its not about being 'open' its about everything else. Businesses and public services will be bound by the stated health guidance provided the county until further notice.

Even under Green (New Normal Risk for Covid-19 Transmission) restaurants are supposed to guides to use facial coverings by the provided policy standards:
Quote:

Indoor and outdoor dining options at restaurants operating under proper safety precautions for staff and customers.Wear facial coverings and practice physical distancing and frequent hand hygiene
One could easily make the argument that businesses and service providers (including the public services) not abiding by these guidelines are in violation of the provided guidance until such time as the guidance is ceased. We're not sure under what circumstance the DCHHS would remove or end such guidelines as such termination standards have never been reveled or disclosed to the public.

What does "it's about everything else" mean? Are you referring to wearing masks inside of stores/restaurants? I think that will be the last thing that goes away, but like I said, I think it's gone by Labor Day.

Are restaurants and stores being shut down for not abiding by the Dallas County regulations? Everywhere I go looks packed like a normal spring weekend. I'm confused on what the issue is here (not trying to be a smart ass, genuinely not sure).

I've been cautious this whole time, but I agree that the current color level is silly. But it doesn't seem like anyone is following that, so I think it's kind of moot.

Yes exactly, businesses are outside of the officially provided public health guidelines as long as those guidelines are in place. Shouldn't businesses be abiding by these guidelines until such time as they are updated? The issue is that these health guidelines, until such time as they are stopped, puts businesses, employees, customers and the general public in a place where they are almost certainly in breach of the guidelines. The public is not abiding by the guidelines... So what's the point of such guidelines at all? The honest answer is to get rid of the whole thing as as currently provided because, in my opinion, the guidelines only lead to confusion and a public which is in direct conflict.

Do you think these guidelines will be gone by Labor Day or just reformatted?
A parallel is the old Terrorism Alert color system which no one took seriously because we could never get to Green (or maybe even Blue, just above Green) and had to be replaced by informational alerts.

I had someone tell me the other day that even when masks aren't required they will still wear a mask. They are happy how it has kept them from getting sick this past year.

I'm thinking.. that isn't healthy though, right? Not getting into mask debate, but regardless can someone confirm if this approach is indeed a smart move? I always was led to believe that getting sick and exposed is healthy for your immune as one day its inevitable you will come down with something and you want your body ready.

Can your immune system slow its response or stop working if you continue to protect it to where it doesn't have to act? Just something that crosses my mind now.
Bob Knights Liver
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I would think that complete isolation like that would lower the efficiency of your immune system or cause more alergy type responses.

That said, I'm more than happy to let people that want to wear a mask in purpetuity do so without catching any flack for their decisions.
