It's pretty much just what you wrote.

The numbers are going up: cases and hospitalizations. More people seem to be surviving, but that is increasing hospitalizations because they're receiving care instead of dying.

It's also SO FREAKING INCONSISTENT. So grateful the positives at that nursing home are doing well and wish we could understand the "why."

Studies on impact of blood type do seem to be confirming the early indications that A and AB types are more likely to have a more severe response while O was least likely.

I mean this is one of those things that is more or less true for any virus.

O tend to be superspreaders with weaker cases, and A tend to have more severe cases but are less likely to infect others.

CV seems to have the same calling card in that respect.

Yes. I can anecdotally say yes. A friend of mine in Michigan did not get an ICU bed after a surgery because they didn't have ICU staff. She also didn't receive the breathing treatments her doctor prescribed because the pulmonology staff was overwhelmed.

Staffing is absolutely going to be an issue. Also anecdotally, my wife's department weathered the summer fine, but currently have multiple folks out on quarantine.

All healthcare workers just got to make it another month until they receive the vaccine. I really don't think this wave would be an issue if all these hospitals could expand their space again like they did in the summer. Unfortunately, the space is still there but there is no staff available for it.

My wife just let me know that Dallas crossed some red line that Abbott has. I guess that gives Clay the go ahead to shut down Dallas now?

Doesn't it have to stay above the 15% hospitalizations line for 7 straight days? Not just one day? And it's basically bars closing and resteraunts to 50%, but most bars are now 'resteraunts' so don't think it will really change much.

Yep

Even if it's 7 days it won't change much in dallas county , but businesses need all the help they can get.

For restaurants (or restaurants turned bars) it also doesn't impact outside patio space at all

Clay would have nothing to do with this one, it's from Greg Abbott and it's by Trauma Service Area, so we are only 3 days away from rollbacks.

Lord clay back at it. He couldn't wait to implement the 7 day hospitalization figure. So now he rolls back Dallas county and people just drive to Collin, Tarrant and Denton to eat and drink.

Did he implement something different than what the Governor had already laid out (capacity reductions based on 15% hospitalization)? From watching NBC5, it sounded like that was for all north Texas not just Dallas.

Nothing from anyone yet but Jenkins. No update from Abbott and Chris Hill in Collin didn't enforce anything last time so it won't happen now.

Jenkins probably had the tweet typed up and ready as soon as the 168 hours hit.

And only bars that didn't use the TABC loophole, so most should still be operating. Elective surgeries stopping as well.
