Lol low percentages of such issues are highlighted to preserve the integrity of the vaccine but low percentages of issues with the virus itself in many age groups are covered up and "just 1 is too many" is shouted from the rooftops.

So...let's not take into account the vast amount of information that we've learned in the last year about the disease and stick with what we planned in March 2020.Quote:
Dr. Philip Huang, Dallas County Health Department director, told commissioners recently that he didn't want to "move the goal post" that were defined last year, which he said is why the county was slow to lower that threat level.

That memo is an absolute mess. There are 989 new cases of which 184 are of concern yet 78% of the ones that are concerning are Alpha, yet Delta is the predominant strain in North Texas now.752bro4 said:
Any mathematicians here want to break this down for me?

Not sure how you are supposed to interpret any of that.
If the predominant strain is only 20 cases, then we are good.752bro4 said:
That's how I read it too. 20 TOTAL delta variant cases in dallas county.
What?? How can you not automatically like a two-time Baylor grad who's both a politician AND a personal injury attorney..???Diet Cokehead said:
Clay Jenkins is such a POS. I've had the unfortunate displeasure of working with him and he is a dumbass.

I think Clay did it a few days ago. I've seen the masks coming back in force lately and less people in the office. It's been ridiculous and is only getting worse. I can't imagine how bad it will be when we get to the epsilon, feta, gamma, hummus, etc variants.

Does anyone know someone first-hand that's currently sick to the extent they're in the hospital with covid?
Since March 2020, I've known 1 person who was hospitalized (60 y/o male, no known conditions), and that was in the Fall. Who the heck are all these hospitalized people now? I know of one other person who has gotten covid since vaccinations became available, he was vaccinated (65 y/o male), and he said it felt like it was a summer cold for 2-3 days.
Maybe I/we live in a bubble? Am I showing my #privilege?

(within the past month)
-Class of 2003 guy I know just got out of 10 days in the unit.
-Class of 04 guy I know just lost his dad (old) and sister-in-law (not). His brother was in the unit too but made it out. Mom caught it too, but had been vaxxed, and was fine.
-Friend from back home in Centex (she's 43) has a niece and nephew-in-law in the unit. Good times.
